"Sheriff Hayes," said Bill Knapp, his voice rough with emotion. "What's going on?"
"Please take a seat," said Blue.
"Where is my daughter?" demanded Socie.
"I think you know where she is." Blue sealed the bag.
"I...what? Why would I know where Maddie is?" Socie turned wide eyes to her husband. "Bill? What's happening?"
Bill's gaze was fastened to Blue. "Tell us. Please."
"We found Madeline." Blue stared at Socie then turned a softer gaze at her husband. "Your daughter is dead," she said bluntly. "I'm sorry, Mr. Knapp. I truly am."
Socie let out an impressive wail and collapsed against her husband. But Bill moved away, and Socie was forced to sit up. Either that or she'd've fallen onto the couch.
