Chapter 94 - I Lied

"I'll carry her," said Mr. Knapp. "Are there any blankets or sheets down here?"

"Yes. We keep supplies for the theatre club down here," said Anelle. They looked among the shelves until they found a thick swatch of quilted fabric. Merrie and Blue gently wrapped the material around the body bag, and Mr. Knapp picked it up, cradling the bundle against his chest. 

They made a solemn procession as they walked down the main hallway. Most of the children were either in the lunchroom, playground, or class, so they made it out the front door of the building without running into anyone who might ask questions. 

Mr. Knapp looked at Blue. "Did she suffer? You...you saw the tape where Socie...did what she did."

Blue shook her head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Knapp. I lied. There is no footage of Maddie's death. Law enforcement has a lot of leeway when it comes to interviewing suspects."
