Chapter 95 - Blood Was Everywhere

The women nodded then closed the door. With the sun setting, the temperature had turned even chillier. Huddled in her coat, Blue hurried down the block, around the corner, and through Mrs. Whitmore's front yard. There were three keys on the ring, but without a light on the covered porch, it was too dark to even see the knob. She took her mini flashlight from her duty belt, put it between her teeth and aimed it at the bolt lock. The first key unlocked the bolt, and the third one fit into the keyhole above the knob. 

When Blue entered the house, it was eerily silent. She pocketed the keys and shut the door behind her. A lamp in the living room had been left on, but it was so yellowed with age, it did little more than throw shadows. 

"Kitties?" she called out. "Meow?"
