Chapter 51 - snoop

Chapter 51: October 29th, 2001 - "Let's Get High": A West Coast Collaboration

The serendipitous meeting between Holmes and Snoop Dogg quickly turned into a concrete plan. Within a day, they were back at Dr. Dre's studio, ready to lay down the track they had only dreamed about a few days earlier. The energy in the room was palpable, a mix of excitement, creativity, and mutual respect.

"Let's Get High": The Creation

The song, tentatively titled "Let's Get High," was a collaboration in every sense of the word. Dr. Dre took the lead on the production, crafting a laid-back, G-funk inspired beat that perfectly captured the West Coast vibe. The beat was reminiscent of Dre's classic sound, but with a modern twist, featuring a smooth bassline, crisp drums, and a hypnotic synth melody.

Holmes, Snoop Dogg, and Dre brainstormed lyrical ideas, bouncing concepts off each other and refining their verses until they were just right. The theme was simple: relaxation, good times, and enjoying life. Snoop's verse was filled with his signature laid-back delivery and witty wordplay. Holmes, after the meeting with Snoop felt loose , decided to drop the intense and the confrontational verse he always used to create something new for once.

Snoop passes a blunt towards Holmes

Holmes: Thanks snoop i'm good on smoking

Snoop: Why you don't smoke man

Holmes: Not really into it, just prefer to be sober

Snoop : That is good thing

Dre's verse, as always, was a masterclass in flow and lyrical precision.

The recording process was smooth and effortless. Each artist brought their unique talents to the table, and the chemistry between them was undeniable. They fed off each other's energy, pushing each other to be their best.

Release and Chart Success:

"Let's Get High" was released unexpectedly a week later, it blasted, quickly gaining airplay and digital downloads. The song struck a chord with listeners, its infectious beat and positive message proving to be irresistible.

In just a week.

- "Let's Get High" reached Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, dethroning "Top Bully."

- "Big Bully" fell to Number 2.

- Juice's "Juicy" continued its climb, reaching Number 5.

Holmes smiled while watching his music, with snoop and his artist juice reach high spots:

Holmes" Damn never saw it coming, that will blast off"

snoop: I told you Holmes bro

Snoop's Influence and the Blunt Offers:

Throughout the recording process, Snoop Dogg's presence was a constant source of entertainment and inspiration. He was always cracking jokes, sharing stories, and offering everyone blunts.

"C'mon, Holmes, man," Snoop would say, extending a perfectly rolled blunt towards Holmes. "Just take one hit. It'll loosen you up, get your creative juices flowing."

Holmes, however, always politely declined. "Thanks, Snoop, but I'm good," he would say. "I prefer to stay sober. I think better that way."

Snoop never pressured Holmes, respecting his decision and acknowledging that everyone had their own way of doing things.

Despite Holmes's refusal to partake in the herbal festivities, he and Snoop developed a genuine friendship, built on mutual respect and admiration for each other's talents. Snoop admired Holmes's drive and his dedication to his craft, while Holmes admired Snoop's laid-back attitude and his ability to stay true to himself.
