Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven

Soren, Fallon, the twins, Marryanne, Levi and Maelis had been standing behind the curtains of the stage. The starry ceiling of the courtyard, gleamed. A gleam that welcomed the winter snow.

Marryanne sighs, "Where's our pretty Cinderella?"

Cyrus hadn't come out of the dressing room yet. Still grumbling about the dress being itchy.

Soren cracks his head from side to side, "what a trouble..." Soren looked at Marryanne, "I will go call him."

Raynold smirked, "go get your princess, Prince Charming."

Jayson matched his brother's smirk, "ooh, the prince is going for his princess."

"Yeah, Yeah." Soren rolled his eyes, "stepsister number one abd number two."

Ray and Jay grumbled at their roll. Seeing that Soren winked and left towards the dressing room.

Fallon sighed, clutching a drink in his hands, "Why do most of us are women or girls?" He took a sip of the drink.

"Not my fault." Marryanne rolled herceyes at Fallon's complain l, "one of you wrote 'Cinderella' on parchment." She smoothed out her dress, "'Cinderella' has more female than male characters."

Ray and Jay sighed.

Ray looked at Marryanne, "Didn't you wrote 'Cinderella'?"

Marryanne shook her head, "I wrote 'Snow White'" she chuckled, devilishly, "I would have LOVED to see you boys work in mines."

The boys grimaced at Marryanne's idea and now are suddenly glad that 'Snow White' didn't get picked

Jay sighed, "If you didn't pick 'Cinderella' then who did?"

Marryanne glanced at Fallon, "Did you?"

Fallon quickly finished his drink then glanced back at Marryanne, "No, I didn't."

Ray sat next to his brother, "If none of us picked 'Cinderella'" he went into deep thought, fixing his dress as he shifted, "then the only two persons who picked 'Cinderella' are Soren and Cyrus."

Marryanne sighed, "Cyrus could never pick anything like 'Cinderella' I doubt he even participated."

Then they all came to a realization. Marryanne wondered, "then the one who picked 'Cinderella' is..."

"Soren...!" they all said in unison. Their voice echoed together.

Then silence fell over the entire group.

"Well..." Fallon was the first one to break the silence, "regardless of who picked what," he looked at himself, "I must agree that we all look dazzling in gowns."

Ray clicked his tongue, "can't argue about that."

Jay shrugged, "Guess we do look kinda... pretty."

Marryanne huffed out a breath, "damn right, you do." She flipped her hair, "I'm the one who picked the costumes."

"Cyrus's one is my favourite." Fallon chucked.

"Big sis, Mary?" Maelis called, holding Levi's hand

Marryanne turned towards the voice, "Yeah?"

"Levi's not feeling well." Maelis said as Marryanne approached them.

"Is that so...?" Marryanne knelt to Levi's level. "Do you still want to participate?"

Levi nodded.

"Okay," Marryanne ruffled his hair, "If you feel even a little bit under the weather. Come to one of your big sisters or brothers."

"Okay." Levi nodded.

"If he feels horrible I will take him to his room." Fallon says, fixing the mouse ears on Levi's head.

"Sounds like a plan." Jayson huffed.

Ray wondered "what is taking our Prince Charming and Cinderella so long?"

The door opened slowly. Soren peaked in, the room was dark like someone had blown out all the candles. Soren took a deep breath in and entered the dressing room.

"Sunshine...?"

Cyrus is there in the corner still in the pretty blue dress. Hair brushed. Mismatched eyes closed as if he was asleep.

Soren looked at Cyrus in the dark. He lit up a candle, setting it on a table he approached him with slow and steady steps. Soren poked Cyrus's cheek.

"What do you want Soren?" Cyrus mumbled, slightly rubbing his eyes.

Soren chuckled, "Did you really fall asleep, Princess?"

"Call me princess one more time and I will shove the slipper down your throat." Cyrus opened his eyes. His face, illuminated by the candle.

Soren cracked his neck side to side, "I would rather have something else shoved down my throat." Soren winked.

Cyrus groaned, "go fuck yourself." He cursed.

"Why do I need to do that, when I have you." Soren joked.

Cyrus's face turned red, "stop with your inappropriate jokes." Cyrus grumbled.

"Fine, I will stop." Soren sighed, "still worried about going out on the stage?"

Cyrus looked away from Soren's infuriatingly handsome face, grumbling. "Why," he huffed, Soren would have seen the annoyance that had etched on his face if his face wasn't turned away from view, "are you here?"

"I'm here to call you," Soren leaned back against the wall beside Cyrus, "our turn will come up any time soon."

Cyrus sighed, "five more minutes."

Soren chuckled, "okay, five more minutes." He paused, "without the charming prince?"

"Without."

"Okay." Soren smiled gently then he was about to get up but he couldn't. Cyrus was tugging at his cape. His eyes were still looking the other way.

"You don't want your prince to leave?" Soren sat back down.

"I do..."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"..." Soren grinned, "is that a lie?"

"..." Cyrus paused, letting the silence setting in, then he said, "Yes."

"Fine, I will sit here until you are ready to go."

Cyrus didn't say anything. His eyes flickered for a second towards Soren. He blinked and sighed.

"I'm gonna murder whoever put 'Cinderella' in the drawing." He grumbled. His fingers moved towards Soren's hands. He moved them away before they made contact.

Soren smirked, "I would like to see you try."

Cyrus sides eyes Soren, "you know who put 'Cinderella'"

"No." Soren lied biting his tongue. He needs Cyrus to keep a cool head (which is impossible) during the play. He does know who put 'Cinderella' in the draw.

He knows himself really well. He is the one who put 'Cinderella' in the draw, he didn't expect it to be picked. And he didn't expect himself to end up as Prince Charming or Cyrus as Cinderella. But there they are now.

Just Cinderella and his

Prince. In a darkened room illuminated by the red-orange glows of the candle light. Soren couldn't deny that if Cyrus was a girl. He would be a very pretty one.
