Chapter 94 - Quicksilver’s Accent

Ultron looked a little innocent, but Han Yu couldn't even be bothered to respond. With Ultron's level of knowledge, could he really not understand what that meant?

Han Yu figured Ultron was just trying to get back at him for making him work overtime, so he didn't bother arguing and went to wash up.

Passing by the kitchen, he saw Wanda already busy cooking, while Quicksilver was setting the table for breakfast—occasionally sneaking bites of the dishes. When he noticed Han Yu's gaze, he choked violently, frantically looking for water.

There was a cup just a few palms away, yet he couldn't seem to grab it. A strand of deep-red energy coiled around the cup, lifting it over to his hand. Quicksilver snatched it up, took a huge gulp, and finally swallowed the food that had gotten stuck. From the kitchen came Wanda's teasing voice:

"Serves you right for sneaking food."

Watching the scene, Han Yu couldn't help but smile faintly.

This was the kind of life he wanted—not that lonely kind of success where you looked impressive outside but came home to eat alone.

Back when he was focused solely on getting stronger, Han Yu had spent most of his time in other worlds. He never had the chance to relax at home or enjoy a calm breakfast.

Now, with three lively people around, the place finally felt alive again.

During breakfast, Ultron couldn't contain his excitement. He came out of his room carrying a laptop and placed it on the table."Boss, let me show you something amazing."

Since everyone present was on the same side, there was no need for secrecy. Ultron opened the laptop in front of all of them.

He introduced enthusiastically, "This is the program I developed. I call it the 'X System.' It contains data on everyone in the world. Even if you only input an approximate face or age, it can locate the person—and even predict whether someone will become a mutant."

"Not bad, you work fast. Let me give it a try," Han Yu said, sitting down at the computer.

He opened the X System, and a small sphere popped up on the screen. Wavy lines pulsed across it as a voice sounded,"Please state your search request, and I will execute it."

The voice, once hoarse and raspy like an old man's, was now bright and youthful—full of energy. No one would guess it used to belong to Zola.

"I want to find someone—Charles Xavier. Limit the search to mutants. Target ability: telepathy," Han Yu said eagerly.

The name Charles Xavier referred to one of the kindest mutants Han Yu knew—Professor X himself, the most powerful telepath among mutants.

"Searching for target…"

Han Yu tensed up. He wasn't sure if mutants had started to appear in greater numbers yet—there'd been no clear news. Maybe the ripple was still too small to notice.

Within five seconds, the X System replied,"Target found. Charles Xavier—currently teaching at Berlin First High School."

It actually found him!

Han Yu's eyes lit up, though his excitement was mixed with unease. He had specifically added "telepathy" as a keyword to narrow the range.

If the system could find someone by their ability, it meant the person had already used that ability—even discreetly.Hidden from normal people, perhaps, but not from the analytical reach of the X System.

After jotting down Professor X's school, Han Yu searched for a few other mutants, including Magneto—but came up empty. He wasn't sure if it was because they hadn't revealed their powers yet or because the local system's range was too limited.

"Looks like I'll have to use S.H.I.E.L.D.'s helicarrier soon. If we delay until mutants start awakening in large numbers, the world's going to be chaos again."

Han Yu took a backup drive from Ultron, planning to go to S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters when he had time.Combining the predictive X System with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s satellites—which covered most of the Earth—would make for the ultimate tool for tracking people and hidden powers.

After packing away the laptop, footsteps sounded upstairs. The four of them looked up to see the Winter Soldier coming down the stairs, rubbing his head in confusion.

"Where… am I? Who are you people?" he asked blankly.

Seeing that he'd regained consciousness, Han Yu smiled and waved him over."Come down and have breakfast first. We'll explain everything slowly."

Winter Soldier opened his mouth to refuse—but his stomach let out a loud growl, making him blush.

"Come on, quit being stubborn. The boss said sit, so sit!"

Quicksilver zipped over, pulled him to the table, and handed him a bowl and chopsticks.

Han Yu raised an eyebrow. "Pietro, why do you sound like you've got a northeastern accent?"

Even though they were speaking English, Quicksilver's intonation carried a distinct Dongbei twang.

"Ah, boss, you caught that, huh?" Quicksilver grinned. "I'm telling you, the folks from your country are amazing! Great at games, and they sound awesome when they talk—I just love it!"

That accent of his was clearly beyond saving. His speech pattern was pure northeast China. He must've picked it up from his gaming buddies—after all, GTA Online had players from all over the world, and running into players from Huaxia wasn't rare at all.

Listening to him talk made everyone burst into laughter—everyone except the Winter Soldier, who just stared at them in silence. He didn't know why, but watching them like this made him feel a little envious—envious of their warmth and easy camaraderie.

After lunch, Han Yu and the Winter Soldier sat in the living room.Han Yu asked, "How much do you remember about your past?"

"I remember everything," the Winter Soldier said. "And I remember you injected some kind of green energy into my brain. That's what wiped out Hydra's programming, isn't it?"

Han Yu smiled and nodded. "That's right. S.H.I.E.L.D. has already discovered Hydra's infiltration. The two sides haven't clashed yet, but it's only a matter of time. I'll call Rogers over later—you'll need to help him take down Hydra. It's been a long time since you two met, hasn't it? I'm sure you've got a lot to talk about."

The Winter Soldier froze, his lips trembling slightly. "Steve… he's still alive?"

He knew Steve Rogers had taken the Super Soldier Serum—he'd come to rescue him from Hydra's base afterward, and the two had fought side by side for a while.

The Winter Soldier also knew that super-soldiers weren't immortal—just that they aged more slowly. But seventy years had passed. Even if Steve hadn't died, he should've been a frail old man in his nineties by now.

"He's not dead," Han Yu said with a smile. "Like you, he was frozen in ice for a time. He only woke up a few years ago. I'm sure he's still the man you remember."
