Chapter 112 - Sorcerer, Don’t Fight in Melee

"You're called… Doctor Strange, right? I want to ask—did you choose me only because I have Chaos Magic?"

Wanda walked alongside him, curious. She couldn't think of anything else about herself that would make Strange take notice.

They arrived at an empty room. Strange gestured for her to sit and poured her a cup of tea before speaking.

"No, it's not just that. I've been observing you for some time. You're very kind. Even though you possess extraordinary skills, your daily work at the grocery store is mostly laundry and cooking, right?"

"Yes. I think that's what I should do. Although Han-Yu gave me the nickname Scarlet Witch, my heart isn't in combat. I don't want to engage in killing and fighting. But if that means falling further behind him, then I will work hard to improve myself—not just be a decoration."

Wanda said firmly. Both her brother Pietro, aka Quicksilver, and later Ultron, now possessed powers not inferior to hers.

She had immense potential but lacked control, which made her akin to a "vase." This was why she had agreed to come to Strange's place immediately upon meeting him—she didn't want to be a burden.

So she came here.

"Good. That desire to improve is the best motivation. Now, let's test the extent of your magic."

Strange raised his right hand and twirled his fingers. Instantly, the surroundings transformed. Countless fragments, like shards of mirrors, spread from his hand and enveloped the entire room.

"This is a mirror space. Whatever happens here won't affect the real world," Strange said with a smile.

Wanda nodded in surprise, observing the surroundings. A woman, dressed similarly to Strange, appeared and served tea—but when Wanda waved at her, the woman didn't react at all.

"Now, show me the full extent of your power." Strange stood in the corridor of the room, hands behind his back.

Wanda hesitated, then walked to the corridor. "What should I do?"

"Attack me in your usual combat style," Strange replied with a smile.

Wanda paused. Attacking Strange made her nervous; she had real combat experience and knew her attacks were no weakling.

"Don't worry. Go all out. If you easily defeat me, it proves your potential as a sorcerer. If not… that's normal. You're here to learn how to become the strongest sorcerer, aren't you?"

Encouraged, Wanda raised her slender hands. Crimson magical energy flickered at her fingertips.

With a sudden clench, strong energy erupted from Wanda, forming several spheres that she hurled at Strange while letting out a soft, determined cry.

Strange's eyes widened slightly at the raw power in the spheres. He raised both hands, forming a massive circular magic array in front of him, blocking Wanda's attack.

"This level of power already rivals a high-level sorcerer!"

He marveled internally. Such an attack could make one a guardian sorcerer in any sanctum, yet Wanda's potential was even greater.

Wanda didn't stop. Her palm glowed with a thick crimson imprint, forming a magical hand in an instant. It soared toward Strange, growing from a small palm imprint to over two meters tall within a few meters of flight.

Strange's expression changed. "A strong and unique attack!"

Golden magical energy surged from him, forming a small cauldron in his palm. He waved it toward Wanda's palm imprint.

At that moment, he realized: "Wait, too much energy… it might harm Wanda!"

He was about to intercept, but the cauldron collided with Wanda's palm imprint midair, sending ripples of energy outward.

"It… it canceled out?!"

Strange was stunned. She quickly summoned a shield, for the energy ripple alone could displace the internal organs of an ordinary person.

After neutralizing the shockwave, she focused on Wanda. The latter was dispersing the energy ripples midair. Strange exclaimed, "You didn't even use magic to block that impact?!"

"Nope, it felt… kind of nice," Wanda replied honestly, unaware of why Strange was shocked.

Strange's eyes were filled with astonishment. "That energy didn't hurt you at all?"

She hadn't, and the energy was substantial. Strange's cauldron had condensed a power that many sorcerers together could not resist. Yet Wanda had easily neutralized it.

"Monster, truly a monster!"

Strange shook her head. She had expected Wanda to be roughly equal to her, but it turned out Wanda's magic strength surpassed her, and her physical body was unusually strong.

Sorcerers usually have strong magic and magic resistance but weak physical resistance. Without magical protection, a knife could kill them.

Strange dismissed the mirror space, curiosity piqued. "Wanda, did Han-Yu teach you this combat style?"

"Yes. He told me sorcerers shouldn't fight in melee. Always attack from a distance. Sorcerers deal area damage from afar. Getting close to the enemy is foolish."

Strange covered her face. That was true—the essence of a sorcerer is to attack with magical energy, like Iron Man firing repulsors from his palms.
