Chapter 171 - Quite Enthusiastic

Whoosh!

A sound of air being torn apart rang out, and Hela's figure vanished from where she was.

The Sea God's eyes widened. He couldn't even catch Hela's speed?

"Seriously? You're not still looking at me with your old eyes, are you? Then I'm really being underestimated."

The Sea God had just put up a defensive posture when Hela's laughter rang out behind him, and immediately, a sharp blade came at him.

The Sea God bit his tongue, forcing himself to sober up. He barely dodged the attack, but the other party's attack speed was too fast. He was still a second too late and was scratched on the cheek by the blade.

Frowning, the Sea God jumped back a distance, touched his face. The blood and the stinging pain on his face were very real. What's going on with this woman? Even at her peak strength a thousand years ago, she wasn't at this level.

The Sea God's eyes darted over Hela. His pupils suddenly shrank. He noticed the battle armor on the latter's body. The appearance of this set of armor didn't look like ordinary armor. Could it be that Hela's strength had improved because of this?

Seeing the other party sizing her up without restraint, Hela narrowed her eyes, a dangerous look flashing within them. She stomped her foot on the ground and shot forward.

The Sea God's vigilance immediately increased; the other party's combat experience was not weaker than his, and could even be said to be superior.

He was, after all, a god-king, and didn't fight often. But the other party was an Executioner, and combat was a daily occurrence for her. In terms of fighting, the Sea God wasn't necessarily a match for Hela.

The Sea God gripped the Trident's long handle with both hands, and after a low shout, he thrust the long spear into the ground. The surrounding water was mobilized by him, forming a semi-circular shield around his body, protecting him within.

As the water shield was just forming, several blades pierced in front of the Sea God, startling him.

It wasn't over. Behind the blades, the Sea God saw Hela standing outside with her hands raised high, piercing many dark green spikes up from the ground, which then shot towards him as she lowered her hands.

The Sea God could only passively defend.

Damn it, fighting Hela in Asgard, I probably can't win. This guy can absorb energy endlessly here, there's no end to it. If we keep going like this, I'm the one who'll die in the end.

The Sea God thought to himself. Fighting anyone in Asgard was fine; their energy wouldn't randomly increase. They all had a rough upper limit to their abilities, knowing at what point their opponents would become exhausted.

Hela, however, was different. Her energy source was Asgard itself. Asgard would provide her with a constant supply of energy, so Hela would become more and more frenzied the longer the fight went on. Injuries and blood would only excite her further, making her attacks even more ferocious.

While the Sea God was mulling over these thoughts, Hela's attacks hadn't stopped. In just ten seconds, his water shield was riddled with countless blades.

"Damn it, I didn't expect this crazy woman to come back. I'll retreat for now and discuss this with Thanos again. I don't want to die for nothing."

The Sea God immediately made up his mind. He was truly afraid of Hela. She was like a rabid dog; even if you knew you could beat it, you'd definitely end up losing a chunk of flesh in the end.

The Sea God wasn't a reckless person. He wouldn't just charge in and fight, thinking it a loss if he only managed to inflict some damage while also taking a beating in return.

If he didn't want to fight, he could leave. If he wanted to leave, Hela couldn't stop him.

Having made his decision, the Sea God's Trident tip gathered strands of tangible, sapphire-blue energy. He spun the Trident in his hands, drawing a circle in front of him before stabbing it into the ground once again.

The immense energy surged from the Trident, coursing into the ground and causing the entire island of Asgard to tremble, eliciting screams from many.

The Sea God seized the opportunity to flee, shouting back, "Hela, just you wait! The next time I come, you Asgardians will all die!"

His voice abruptly cut off. Turning his head, he saw something hurtling towards him. If he hadn't reacted swiftly to raise his Trident in defense, he would have been cleaved in two.

The powerful counterforce slammed the Sea God into the ground, sending him tumbling several times. He winced, lifting his head. Not far away, an axe was embedded in the ground. It seemed this axe was what had blocked his attack and knocked him down.

Following that, a voice rang out nearby. A young man walked over to the axe, pulled it out, and hoisted it onto his shoulder.

"What's this 'all must die' nonsense? You die, and the guys from Vanaheim can live. If you insist on resisting, they'll be chopped into eight pieces."

Among those present, only Hela, Thor, and Han Yu would speak to the Sea God so brazenly.

As he spoke, he gestured the number "eight" with his fingers, not knowing if the Sea God would understand, but that was his problem.

Watching the smiling boy, the Sea God's expression was uncertain. This boy had been beside Hela when she appeared, and judging by the way he was holding that axe, it seemed he had just activated the Bifrost.

"Laufey, Surtur, hurry over here!" the Sea God said in a low voice. The two names he mentioned belonged to the Frost Giant and the Fire Giant, respectively.

Hearing his call, the two giants arrived beside the Sea God in their flying machines, and the three main forces of this attack were all present.

Seeing the two of them beside him, a hint of ruthlessness flashed in the Sea God's eyes, he then looked up at Han Yu and asked, "Did you bring back Hela and Loki?"

"Yep, what's up?" Han Yu smiled.

"You can actually beat Mephisto?" The Sea God was shocked.

"Nope, I didn't fight him."

The first half of Han Yu's sentence made the Sea God breathe a sigh of relief. If they hadn't fought, then he probably used a clever method to bring Hela out. But Han Yu added another sentence, which made the Sea God's hair stand on end.

"We made a friend, he's very enthusiastic."

Han Yu's words were like a bolt from the blue. Making friends? And enthusiastically at that?

If it weren't for the fact that Mephisto's name was hard to mispronounce, the Sea God would have doubted if they were talking about the same person.

The Sea God had met Mephisto a few times. Every time he saw him, he was smiling, but don't think that this was a friendly smile. His smile was full of cunning, like a snake eyeing its prey. As long as the prey let down its guard, it would be swallowed whole.

Even people like the Sea God and Odin didn't want to deal with Mephisto too much, because the person who laughed last wouldn't necessarily be themselves.
