Chapter 42 - Betrayal

Kael's POV

I was growing impatient.

The execution bell had rung, its sound still echoing in my ears like a death knell. Each toll felt like claws raking against my chest, slow and merciless, reminding me that Soraya's time was slipping away second by second. She was running out of time, and we were still stuck outside the damn wall. My claws threatened to tear through my skin. My wolf paced violently inside me, begging to be set free, snarling for blood. All I wanted was to climb that wall, tear through whatever guards stood in my way, and get her out — no matter the cost.

The gate creaked.

A woman stepped out from the shadows, holding a lantern.

"You're late!" Darius snapped, his voice sharp with anger.
