Ethan's POV
I woke to the dim orange glow of evening light bleeding through the curtains, the room heavy with shadows. My head throbbed, sluggish and cloudy — like I'd been drugged or dreaming.
Then I felt it. Bare skin against mine.
My eyes snapped open.
Lila lay beside me, her dark hair spilling over the pillow like a river of ink, her body pressed against me — both of us completely naked.
"What the..?" I jolted upright, heart hammering. Did we..?
No. It couldn't be.
I grabbed her shoulder and shook her gently. "Lila. Wake up."
She stirred slowly, stretching like a cat, before her eyes fluttered open. A satisfied, almost lazy smile curved her lips.
"Evening," she murmured.
"What happened?" My voice came out harsh, panicked. "Why are we—why are we naked?"
She sat up, unbothered, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Isn't it obvious?" Her smile turned sly. "We finally mated, Ethan."
My breath caught. "What?"
"Relax," she said with a small laugh. "It was just sex."
