Kael's POV
Night had settled deep over the city, its faint lights flickering through the tall windows of Lucas' mansion. Even with walls around me and familiar faces close by, my chest tightened — that same relentless pull urging me forward.
I didn't have time to rest. Not when answers were waiting beyond these walls.
Not when Victor — the rogue leader — was the only one who could point me in the direction I needed.
Lucas' wife immediately ushered Aria inside to freshen up, her arm wrapped around the girl protectively. Aria clung to her, eyes red, trembling.
I turned to leave with Lucas, but Maya hurried after us.
"I'm coming," she said firmly.
I shook my head. "No. It'll be impossible, Maya. Where we're going is dangerous. You stay back and look after Zara and Henry."
She swallowed hard, eyes glistening. "Then please… bring back my friend. Bring back Soraya."
I nodded once. "I will."
