Chapter 4 - Rest by the Shoreline

It took a while for me to recover from that fight I just had. Actually, it was more of a brawl since both of us were a bit harmed due to the scuffle we had a moment ago.

But a few parts of my body did ache a bit since that overgrown eel was more ferocious than I could have expected. Well, it is a beast and all, but even though it was a beast, it still harbored some intelligence in how it moved.

Those moves were a dead giveaway with how fast it counterattacked me; I could still feel that tail swipe.

But at least it stopped when I dealt a blow to its face. But that counterattack it did did rattled me, at least it wasn't as strong as I was expecting it to be.

I guess that fight was just for fun for that thing, or it was just curious as to what and why I was there.

Well, now I know why there weren't any sea creatures in that area. Cause of that giant eel and all. Still, that was quite amazing though, the very first creature that I laid my eyes upon, and it was a remarkable specimen.

But it was still a battle-hungry fellow; I could still feel that one hit on my top. Stings a bit, too. Especially that last strike.

At least this area has somewhat have a few creatures, well, the nocturnal ones at least. Some birds as well, I guess.

Looking at it now, I was actually really big, given the fact that I was as tall as the nearest tree, which was, I think, a coconut tree, given the round clusters hanging on it.

Anyway, at least I was now away from that area, well, a couple of feet away from it. Lucky for me, though, that strike did send me flying towards this place.

That fight really did take a bit out of me. I feel so dead tired right about now since it was still nighttime with how the moon shines on the land. I could still take a nap, though, so I would do that first.

I could try and sleep right here...actually, I should try and find a safe place to sleep first. My last one was discovered by that Eel, so I will have to be thoughtful with what shelter I create...please tell me there aren't any of those things up here in land...who am I kidding, there is definitely something up here. It would be gigantic and mean like that Eel a moment ago. Two things that I hate right at this moment.

I was found out because the hole I made wasn't that deep, and the fact that it wasn't that well hidden. So I might as well create a whole area for myself underground just to be safe. Or try and camouflage in the area, which is harder to do as well, since anything with great senses would be able to find me. So that's a no-go as well.

As such, the first one is the best solution for this problem of mine. The second wouldn't work since again, there might be something that would be able to sense me. So, might as well start digging.

So I did what I set out to do as I searched for an area where it was secluded, since that would be the best area to start making the entrance of my layer. This time, though, instead of using a boulder to hide it, I'll just have to close it once I'm inside the layer.

I could use another boulder to seal the entrance, but trying to seal it while I am inside would just make it hard for me. Maybe I could just seal it up with either sand or dirt, whatever I dug up underneath.

If I did do that, then any being would have a hard time trying to get me. Even if they try then they will have to dig it up, which will give me enough time to either escape or be prepared to fight it.

With that set into my mind, I then started to dig, which was way easier since I was not underwater and all. But it was a lot of work since I had to scatter the dirt and sand around so that I wouldn't have a pile of them just sitting there. What idiot would leave something like that around, which anyone would easily think that something had happened there.

So I continued doing that until I was able to create an entrance and a wide area for me to sleep in for the time being.

That took a while since I had to dig deeper, since the sand and dirt were so loose that I had to do it. But the soil deeper underground was dense enough for me to make that wide area that would become my current resting area. It would hold for the time being, but I will have to double-check it the next day just to be sure.

But with that, I was now finished with the necessary stuff I needed to do.

I will just have to make sure that no one notices that something happened here. Which means that I will have to sweep the area once more just to be sure that I didn't ruffle the area so much.

It took a few minutes before I deemed it was okay for me to take a well-deserved rest. So I went back to my hideout, sealed the entrance with sand and dirt. And make myself cozy as best as I can, as I went back to sleep instantly, as the fight and construction work I did tired me out a lot.

So with that, I closed my eyes, well, closed in a way that I would be able to somewhat sleep as a crab. Once I did it only took a couple of minutes before I fell asleep and let my ever-blank dreams take me.
