Chapter 18 - Crab Fu Karate? I Don't Know What to Name It

My training took a few weeks, which was an obvious thing since learning a move takes so long, so that your body would be able to memorize it. I had to make sure that each form and step I took was placed in an appropriate position, as one wrong step or move would be a mess, and launch an attack towards where I was aiming. Not only that, but I had to be sure that I wouldn't be the one to come face-to-face with a strike that some smart monster would take advantage of.

That was when I discovered a flaw in my use of a weapon. The first was the fact that my grip, you can call it that, was just me pinching it, and anyone knows that if I simply picked it up by just the tip of it, then it would more than likely fall out of my grip. So I had to hold it fully with my entire pincher, pinching it. Which only meant that I had to be careful not to hold it full force, like what happened to practice weapon number 3, which was cut in half...anyway.

The same goes for my shield, as I found out that I had to hold it away from me, as if I hold it close to me, then I am susceptible to being harmed by it. Being pricked by tree roots has already taught me about that.

Now replace these practice weapons with my real ones, and then it really puts it in perspective on how it's a danger to me, especially the club, since I did use the Spider's claws for making that. Claws that were able to harm me to the point that I would have died because of it. Now, for the shield, since it was made from the shell of the urchin, I still haven't found just how deadly it is for me if that urchin used it against me. I mean, I would have tried if it weren't for the fact that I was a bit scared of trying it, cause I remembered a certain detail about it. Some species of sea urchins are poisonous, so yeah, I don't wanna try it out.

So each movement needs to be careful and precise, as again, I would be the one to cause harm to myself if I didn't. Hence, why I made three Styles or Stances.

This fighting style I have come up with is a perfect fit for me for this moment, as I try and work on it.

The first and the basis of this style is the Sumo Style, or in this case, the Tree Stance, fit for a defensive style where I would first use the anchor myself into the ground that I am standing on and take on an attack head-on. This is great for when I would have to brace for when something either pounces or lunges at me at full force, and I couldn't dodge.

But the downside to this since I wouldn't be able to move out of the way of an attack, and this is mainly for defensive purposes, hence why I called it a Tree Stance. Like a tree trying to handle everything in its way, even though it couldn't move.

Next was the Hammer style, or as I affectionately called it, the Eel Stance. It's a combination of heavy blows from both of my weapons in a sort of brawl-like battle. It's just a normal slugger-type move that I always use, but now with weapons attached to my pinchers, each would cause me immense harm if I accidentally hit myself.

So yeah, I'll only use that to force my enemies to get their defense down and to stop them from trying to move, instantly locking them from trying to attack me. Of course, the downside to this is the fact that it would mean that I would have to go all out on the attack, while my defense would be down while doing so.

Now, for the last one, this is the balance one among the Styles that I have come up with. This one I called a Gear Stance or Switch Style, since each movement needs to be well-switched to an appropriate one, like pulling my shield up to block an attack, then suddenly switching to attacking my enemy. The downside for this one is the fact that I need total concentration as I am doing the switch, cause one wrong move, then I would die...or be harmed awfully.

Aside from that, I also came up with a move where I didn't have my weapons with me. I didn't call it anything special, as it was simply grapple moves, which were perfect for a crab like me. But it was still altered for my crab physique. So the ones that use the upper part of a human are easy for me since my pinchers would do all the work for me, while the leg locking and stuff wouldn't work since doing that with my 6 legs feels redundant at this point. But at least kicking still works for me since it's just me swinging them at my enemies.

If all fails and my weapons and styles don't work, then I will go wild at my enemies like what I have been doing since before I made my weapons. But that would just mean that all else fails, and going wild like biting, crushing, swinging, and slamming is the only thing that would keep me alive.

With that said...I'll take a break first since I have gone through about 9 of those coconut things and 5 Tree roots during a full week, so I'll have to stop before the area around me is turned into a battle zone where I am the sole cause of such a thing. At least now, though, I wouldn't cause a lot of damage to myself, now that I have trained myself to control how my body moves.
