"You didn't do it, right?" Selene looked at Lin Chen with unconcealed admiration.
"By the way, this incident was exposed by a fortune teller. Was it really you?" she added. "It seems your character isn't bad at all."
"Things I can't stand," Lin Chen leaned back and replied calmly, "will eventually be exposed."
"Damn it… acting all cool again."
Selene stole a few glances at him. The more she looked, the more… appetizing he seemed. She really had the urge to take a sip of his blood.
"Hey, Miss Driver," Lin Chen said lazily, "could you at least look at the road while driving?"
Nearly an hour later, they arrived at an ancient castle on the outskirts.
Selene drove straight in and led Lin Chen inside. She kicked the gate open with one foot."Follow me."
The hall was filled with vampires drinking blood wine and smoking cigarettes, the atmosphere decadent and dreamlike.
Lin Chen understood. Living for centuries without daylight, unable to enjoy normal food—boredom was inevitable.
Several vampire women stared at Lin Chen with glowing eyes.
"Wow! A new handsome guy!""Come play with us!"
Lin Chen waved his hand and pointed at Selene."Sorry. I belong to her. You'll have to ask her first."
The vampires immediately started shouting.
"Selene, share him! I didn't expect you to like handsome guys too!""So she does have taste!""I thought she'd stay single forever!"
Selene's mouth twitched. She grabbed Lin Chen by the arm."Bullshit. Hurry up."
"Sorry, everyone," Lin Chen said politely. "Selene's in a rush."
The crowd booed loudly. Some vampires—clearly jealous—began whispering maliciously.
"Kraven chased her for so long and she ignored him. And now this?""Yeah, pretending to be so aloof!"
The chatter grew louder and uglier.
Lin Chen suddenly turned and spoke coldly,"You're wrong. It's precisely because she's excellent that Kraven kept chasing her—and why I chose her. As for you lot with chaotic private lives? I'm not interested."
"What?!"
"What did you just say?!"
A female vampire lunged at him.
Bang!
Lin Chen kicked her in midair, sending her flying more than twenty meters straight into the wall.
Silence.
The hall fell deathly quiet.
Selene immediately pulled Lin Chen away.
They moved down a side corridor. Whispers echoed behind them.
In the armory, Selene slammed the werewolf weapon onto the table and said to the bald man, Konn,"We're in serious trouble."
Konn examined the blue-tipped bullet."Radioactive?"
"Ultraviolet ammunition," Selene corrected.
At that moment, Marcus Wen—temporarily acting as Blood Clan leader—entered with his people.
He stared at Lin Chen with hostility."Selene, who is he? You brought a human here?"
"Why?" Selene shot back. "Don't I have that right?"
"You—! The elders will awaken soon. Nothing can go wrong!"
"I'll take responsibility," Selene snapped.
A blonde vampire named Erika sniffed the air and smiled."Selene, your prey smells amazing. His blood must taste wonderful."
Lin Chen smiled faintly."What's wrong? You want to try it?"
"You—!"
Marcus Wen glared at him."Brat, you're too arrogant."
Lin Chen shrugged. No explanation needed.
Selene said nothing and led Lin Chen upstairs to her room.
Inside, Lin Chen looked around."Nice place. Clean."
"Wait here. I'll handle something, then we'll head to the Black Prison in the back mountain," Selene said before leaving.
With nothing to do, Lin Chen opened a video call.
"Harley, miss me?"
"I miss you to death!" Harley Quinn pouted.
Mindy squeezed into view."We're having roasted lamb tonight. Sister Mela's cooking is amazing!"
Catwoman appeared and frowned at Lin Chen's background."This is a woman's room. What are you doing?"
Lin Chen put a finger to his lips."Quiet. I'm in a vampire castle. Going to rescue Lorna."
"Then why are you in a woman's room?" Jill asked teasingly.
"She's not a girl," Lin Chen replied seriously. "She's over five hundred years old."
"Five hundred?!" everyone exclaimed.
"What nonsense are you talking about?!" Selene suddenly opened the door.
"Just killing time," Lin Chen waved and ended the call.
Catwoman immediately complained to the others,"That bastard! Clearly a young woman in leather jacket and pants—and she even has a similar figure to mine!"
Far away in Europe, Lin Chen sneezed repeatedly.
"Let's go," Selene said. "Black Prison."
They headed to the back mountain. The vampire guards dared not disobey Selene and opened the gate.
The Black Prison was enormous—a stone structure built into a cave. They searched but found no sign of Lorna.
Selene frowned."Your intel wrong?"
"No," Lin Chen replied. "There's a hidden cell."
The guard denied it.
Lin Chen suddenly grabbed him."Look at me."
Overwhelmed by Lin Chen's aura, the vampire froze.
Lin Chen activated Water Mirror Physiognomy, took a key from the man's waist, dragged him to a concealed wall, and inserted it.
The stone door opened.
Inside, seven or eight prisoners were locked up.
"Lorna!" Lin Chen shouted.
"Master! I'm here!" came a sobbing reply.
The green-haired Lorna rushed forward. Lin Chen kicked the door open, and she threw herself into his arms.
"Master, you came!"
Lin Chen held her shoulders."Of course I did. Anyone who bullied you—I'll settle it."
Lorna cried like a child, completely unlike her usual queenly self.
The other captives stared in shock.
Lin Chen frowned."You control magnetism. How did they catch you?"
"They used sonic attacks and put this on us," Lorna explained, pointing to the electronic collar around her neck. "It suppresses our powers."
Lin Chen crushed it with one hand.
The Blood Clan shouldn't possess technology this advanced.
He tossed the device to Selene.
"I've never seen it," Selene said.
"It's from the Holy See—likely Sentry tech," Lorna explained.
She then looked suspiciously at Selene."Master… why are you with a female vampire?"
Lin Chen sighed."To save you, I made a deal. A small sacrifice."
Lorna gasped."Master! You sacrificed your life for me?! Is your waist okay?!"
Selene's eyelid twitched.
This girl's not stupid… just missing a few screws.No wonder she got caught.
