Lorna nodded. Her green hair fluttered without wind, her eyes glowing emerald as she raised her hand toward the unmanned battle suits charging at them.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several suits let out sharp cracking sounds all at once, then began smoking before freezing in place.
The remaining suits were shattered outright by the tremendous impact from Diana's bracers.
Little Pepper stared in shock. "Master, your friends are incredible!"
The group rushed backstage. Justin Hammer was already in a miserable state, his hair scorched black.
"What? We can't get in?!""Damn it—Ivan!"
Lin Chen sighed. "Justin, I already warned you to be careful around anyone who chews on toothpicks. Unfortunately, you didn't take my advice."
Justin panicked. "Then what am I supposed to do now?"
"The solution is obvious," Lin Chen replied calmly. "Hand over Ivan Vanko and wait for your company to go bankrupt."
The Widow stepped forward, grabbed Justin's arm in a reverse lock, and slammed him onto the table.
"Hand over Ivan Vanko!"
Lin Chen sighed inwardly. My widowed sister is truly terrifying.
"It hurts, it hurts!" Justin cried out. "Ivan's in my company, but I can't even reach him by phone right now!"
The Widow released him and strode out decisively.
Lin Chen turned to Lorna and Diana. "You two help clear out the remaining unmanned suits. I'll go take a look."
Diana nodded. Dealing with these suits was effortless for her and Lorna.
Lin Chen stepped forward and caught up with the Widow as she left the venue.
She was about to get into Happy's car and change into her combat suit inside. How could Lin Chen possibly tolerate that?
He wrapped an arm around her waist and took off toward Hammer Industries.
The Widow suddenly turned her head and spat viciously at him.
Lin Chen immediately used one of the Six Divine Abilities.
Her face flushed red, her body nearly going limp, though she forced herself to remain composed. "It's too high… I'm afraid of falling!"
"Don't tell me elite agents are afraid of heights," Lin Chen laughed. "Hurry up and change. You'll need to fight later."
She shot him a sharp look. "You weren't afraid I'd change clothes in the car, so you chased after me?"
"As beautiful as you imagine," Lin Chen replied shamelessly.
They soon landed on the roof of Hammer Industries. With no one around and no surveillance, the Widow quickly changed into her combat suit.
"Can't you be a gentleman and turn around?" she snapped.
Lin Chen replied righteously that flying together wasn't just for this benefit.
They descended to the first floor. The Widow moved to unlock the coded door—Lin Chen kicked it open with a single strike.
This was a trick he had learned from Selina. Extremely useful.
The Widow surged forward, her red hair whipping as she kicked one guard flying.
She tossed out a shock ring, stunning two more guards.
Then came Xingyi Quan and Tantui—fists and kicks flying. In under two minutes, over a dozen guards were sprawled across the floor.
Lin Chen clapped. "Impressive. Truly impressive. I'd let you beat me up."
"Don't help!" the Widow snapped angrily.
Lin Chen nodded obediently, raised his hand—
Two orbs of lightning shot forward. Every guard in their path collapsed, twitching violently.
The Widow stared at him. "…Pervert! And you still made me fight on the front line?!"
Lin Chen sized her up thoughtfully. "I just wanted to see how you twist your waist and kick people. Damn, that's dangerous."
"Definitely perverted!"
She kicked open the control room door. Aside from a hanged guard, Ivan was nowhere to be found.
Lin Chen nodded. "He's gone after Tony. You handle the system here. I'll go help."
The Widow turned and spat at him again. "Go die!"
Lin Chen smashed through the door and flew out.
Back at the expo, Diana, Lorna, and Mindy were still battling the unmanned suits.
Mindy leapt into the air, slashing with her butterfly knife and splitting a suit's head clean in half.
"Oye! I got one too!"
Diana slammed her bracers together. The shockwave obliterated eight suits in a straight line.
Lorna waved her hand—ten more suits instantly sparked, smoked, and shut down.
Mindy nearly cried. They're all bullying me!
Lin Chen landed beside them, drawing the Heavenly Master Sword.
"Five Thunders!"
The sword amplified his connection to lightning. Thick bolts crashed down from the sky, striking the remaining suits.
More than a dozen exploded instantly, as fragile as paper.
Their area was cleared in moments.
Elsewhere, however, the battle continued.
"Whoa!"
Homelander descended from the sky, firing heat vision wildly and destroying several suits.
Maeve and a fake Aquaman joined him, attacking as well.
Below them, Vought's cameramen filmed everything enthusiastically, carefully choosing angles. Some civilians were ignored entirely—saving them wouldn't look good on camera.
Several beams of heat vision suddenly shot toward Lin Chen's group.
Lin Chen immediately pulled Mindy and Lorna behind him.
The spirit shield flared—the heat rays vanished on contact.
Homelander smiled smugly in their direction, as if saying he was just helping with the suits.
"Bastard!" Mindy shouted.
"Shameless!" Lorna cursed. "He did that on purpose!"
Even Diana frowned at the behavior.
Lin Chen sneered, pointing the Heavenly Master Sword.
Boom! Boom!
A curtain of purple lightning engulfed the area.
All unmanned suits—airborne and ground-based—were obliterated in a storm of electricity.
Homelander was struck, convulsed, and slammed into the ground.
The fake Aquaman curled up like a shrimp, twitching nonstop.
Maeve screamed as her straight hair fried into tight curls.
All the cameras were destroyed.
Netizens would only see the three heroes' humiliation before the broadcast cut out.
"Haha! Taoist Priest is amazing!" Mindy laughed.
Homelander flew back over, clearly displeased. "Lin Daochang, what are you doing?"
"Sorry," Lin Chen said innocently. "My lightning is uncontrollable. I was just fighting unmanned suits—same as you."
He flashed a peace sign at the onlookers filming with their phones.
Homelander instantly switched to a professional smile for the cameras.
Maeve and the fake Aquaman approached awkwardly.
Standing before Diana, Maeve—Vought's so-called Wonder Woman—was utterly crushed in appearance, height, temperament, and equipment.
She subconsciously took a step back.
The fake Aquaman stepped forward. "Two beautiful ladies, I'm Deep Aquaman. Nice to meet you."
Lorna ignored him and held Lin Chen's arm.
Diana merely patted Mindy's head.
No response.
The fake Aquaman coughed awkwardly. "Lin Daochang, I'm Deep Aquaman."
"I'm sorry," Lin Chen replied calmly. "I don't know you."
The fake Aquaman froze.
Homelander turned toward Diana with a smile. "Miss, I'm Homelander. We should keep in touch."
Diana glanced at Lin Chen. "Then ask my boyfriend."
Lin Chen's expression darkened instantly.
Right in front of him, this guy dared approach his woman.
This Homelander really was arrogant.
