Lin Chen smiled at Diana."Beautiful, let me tell you a joke. Someone who was raised in a laboratory and grew up without any maternal love actually tries to strike up conversations with people."
The Homelanders' fury exploded, and his eyes instantly turned red. This was his reverse scale—his greatest taboo.
Without a family, trained from childhood to be nothing but a killing tool, now forced to play the role of a smiling internet celebrity every day… it was unbearably exhausting.
He forcibly suppressed his rage. Glancing around, he noticed countless phones pointed at him, filming everything. He held himself back.
Lin Chen smiled."Yes, that's right. Keep smiling. Keep suppressing your anger."
The Homelander could no longer endure it. He crouched slightly, then shot straight into the sky.
Maeve and the counterfeit Aquaman rushed to his side as well.
Diana whispered,"That guy is bad news."
Turning grief and rage into raw power, the Homelander began attacking everything in sight in a mad frenzy.
Lin Chen flung out a Fire Dragon Talisman.
A massive blazing dragon roared into existence in the sky.
The fire dragon crashed into the unmanned battle suits. Wherever it passed, all the armor was melted into glowing molten metal.
The fake Aquaman was nearly dried out by "Seven-Five-Seven." He leapt into a fountain to refill himself with water.
Only then did he realize how vast the gap between himself and Lin Chen truly was. Any one of those fire dragons could roast him into jerky.
The Homelander's cape caught fire as well, leaving his entire body blackened and scorched. He looked utterly miserable.
The onlookers immediately uploaded the footage online.
"Daoist Priest is incredible! That fire dragon looks just like the real dragon of our Xia Kingdom!"
"Not those fat-bellied Western dragons that only scare children!"
"The Homelander is useless—his cape got burned! Even Superman isn't that weak!"
"Exactly. He's just dreaming of replacing Big Blue's position."
"That clown Deep Aquaman is even more ridiculous, jumping into a fountain!"
"Am I the only one noticing the girls next to the Daoist Priest—Lorna and Wonder Woman?"
"I used to think Maeve was impressive, but now she looks like a local beat cop compared to the real Wonder Woman."
The internet exploded with reactions.
Vought Corporation rushed to do damage control.
"The Homelander is busy saving people and hasn't had time or funding to upgrade his equipment!"
"Deep Aquaman doesn't adapt well to life on land, yet he still insists on saving lives!"
"Maeve is only human, not a god. It's normal she can't compare to Wonder Woman—but she's beautiful too!"
Lin Chen and the others had no idea about any of that. They kept moving toward areas still filled with active battle suits, clearing them out one by one.
A small boy wearing an Iron Man helmet aimed a flashlight beam at an unmanned suit.
The suit refused to attack him.
Lorna raised a finger. That battle suit immediately sparked, smoked, and shut down.
The little boy jumped in excitement."Yeah! I defeated a robot!"
Lin Chen walked over and said,"Kid, that thing was destroyed by my girlfriend."
"No, it was me!" the boy insisted stubbornly.
Mindy lost her patience. She yanked off his helmet."Kids are such a hassle."
She ran forward, leapt high, and sliced the head off another unmanned suit.
Skipping back, she sang,"See, little boy? I'm way stronger than you!"
The boy burst into tears. Pointing at Mindy, then at Lin Chen, he wailed,"You're all bad people!"
Lin Chen frowned.So even as a kid, Little Spider-Man was a crybaby.
"Keep crying and I'll call Aunt May and tell her," Lin Chen threatened. "Sneaking out like this—having fun, huh?"
The boy froze."You know Aunt May?! Waaaah—then you're going to be my uncle!"
"Sick," Lin Chen muttered, completely speechless.
Lorna and Diana stared at him suspiciously."Who is this Aunt May? How do you know her?"
"You're overthinking it," Lin Chen waved them off. "She used to be pretty when she was young, but she's almost forty now…"
Diana pouted."Is forty old?"
Lin Chen thought: Can you even compare to her? Mortals don't live forever.
While they were chatting, Iron Man flew down.
"Master, you're way too relaxed!"
Lin Chen pointed at the wreckage of destroyed drones all over the ground."Our results seem several times better than yours."
Tony glanced toward the distant Homelander."That clown again. He shows up wherever there's trouble. I don't even know if he bought a ticket."
Lin Chen laughed."He's got sharp ears. You offended him."
Tony waved it off."So what? If you burned his cape, you've offended him even more. He'll come after you first."
The little Spider-Man exclaimed,"Iron Man, can I get an autograph?!"
Then he suddenly screamed."The big bad guy is coming!"
He shot away on a web.
Rhode chased after him—still under Ivan's control. They flew into a massive glass globe filled with artificial trees and streams.
Lin Chen told Diana to protect the girls and stay away from the battle suits—they might explode—then flew in himself.
The moment he entered the globe, he saw Tony and Rhodes already fighting.
"Oh wow, you two are really close buddies."
"Daoist Priest, hurry and save him!" Iron Man shouted. "Rhodes is being controlled!"
Lin Chen waved casually."Natasha Romanoff will restart his suit soon. You two just keep fighting for now."
At that moment, the remaining unmanned battle suits rushed in.
Lin Chen summoned the fire dragon again. The blazing dragon soared through the air, smashing all the drones into scrap before melting them into liquid metal.
Black Widow finally succeeded in rebooting Rhodes' suit. Control was restored.
"Boom!"
Ivan crashed down from the sky in his heavy armor.
He glared at the three of them."Very good. Both of my enemies are here."
Lin Chen shook his head."You can't even beat one of us. What are you acting tough for?"
Ivan activated the twin electric whips in his hands.
"Hmph! This time I won't lose to a bottle of salt water!"
He lashed the whip toward Rhodes.
The weapon barrel on Rhodes' shoulder was sliced clean off.
Rhodes yelped,"This Hammer Industries weapon is trash!"
"So you can't beat those two, so you come mess with me instead?!" Rhodes roared. "Try my 'ex-wife'!"
His shoulder armor opened, launching a cigar-sized miniature missile.
The missile hit Ivan's armor—but instead of exploding, it bounced off, fell into the water, and went dead.
Rhodes was embarrassed."Justin said this thing was really powerful…"
Tony snorted."Hammer Industries. What did you expect?"
Ivan laughed wildly."You're all going to die!"
He swung both whips toward Lin Chen and Iron Man.
Lin Chen dodged easily."How does a little boss like you dare stand in front of me?"
With a wave of his hand, countless stones shot toward Ivan.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The stones smashed into Ivan so hard he couldn't even lift his head.
Iron Man took the opportunity to blast him down with a laser.
Rhodes joined in, beating him mercilessly.
Ivan quickly collapsed, unable to rise. His armor's defenses were far too weak.
Whoosh!
The Homelander flew in, hoping to steal the kill—only to find Rhodes had already ripped Ivan out of his suit.
Without a word, the Homelander flew off again.
Lin Chen also prepared to leave.
Rhodes shouted,"Master, don't go!"
"What is it?"
"Daoist, give me a peach-blossom charm," Rhodes said with a cheeky grin.
Lin Chen was speechless."Fine, fine. I'll give you one."
He tossed Rhodes a peach charm and then said to Tony,"Hurry up. These suits are about to explode."
"Pepper!" Tony's face changed instantly as he flew away.
Lin Chen flew back to find Diana and the others. Seeing them safe, he smiled.
"Go back to Diana's place first. I'll come later."
Diana snorted."That's not fair. We're going to find that little goblin."
