Mutou Yugi had no intention of resurrecting Atem—not unless he asked for Atem's opinion first.
His thoughts were simple: if Atem could also become a member of the shop, then they could meet often and talk about the interesting things in daily life.
But…
At this moment, he felt small… or perhaps not small, but that his wish was somehow out of reach.
The terminal cost 10,000 coins. His balance was 800 coins. And he had no way to earn money…
Wait—maybe he did have a way to earn money…
Mutou Yugi suddenly remembered the Millennium Items, the strange tools he had once seen, and the evil Duel Monster spirits…
Those things all seemed quite valuable, but he didn't have any of them…
He did have many kindhearted Duel Monster spirits, but unlike the evil and dangerous items, selling evil dangerous objects would both eliminate a threat and bring in a sizable amount of money. Why not?
But the good-natured Duel Monster spirits were his friends and partners—he couldn't sell them.
After thinking carefully for a while, Mutou Yugi abruptly realized that as the King of Games… he seemed especially poor.
"Boss Mu…"
Coming back to his senses, Mutou Yugi planned to seek Mu Yang's help. The moment he lifted his head, he saw Mu Yang looking at him with great interest.
"You… how long have you been watching?"
For some reason, the words that came out weren't what he had planned to say.
"I've been watching the whole time."
Mu Yang replied with a gentle smile. Yugi immediately stiffened, recalling everything he'd done earlier, and his expression gradually darkened.
Seeing the rapid changes in Yugi's expression, Mu Yang didn't continue teasing by telling him he'd recorded everything. After all, he needed to leave his customers a little dignity.
Besides, he wasn't collecting blackmail material to threaten people—it was simply amusing.
The strange silence lasted for a minute or two. The salty sea breeze swept across the deck. Yugi finally steadied his emotions, restored a normal expression, and spoke.
"Boss Mu, is there a way for me to clearly know what valuable items I possess?"
Yugi asked. His question sounded odd, but thinking about it carefully, it made sense.
A person may not know everything he possesses, and determining which items the shop would accept was even harder.
"Yes. Give me a moment."
Mu Yang understood Yugi's meaning. He added a new function to the member subsystem: a feature that allowed users to check which items they owned that were eligible for exchange.
"All done. Try it."
Hearing this, Yugi noticed a new box beside the recharge option. Inside it were the words "Item Query."
He tapped the box. A semi-transparent virtual screen popped up, floating in front of him, moving along with his line of sight.
The screen displayed a long list of items and their values. On the left side were item names; on the right, the word "Sell."
The list included a duelist's "Power," certain cards with special abilities, Duel Monster spirits, and various tools with unique powers…
Among them, the strangest item was:
Title: King of Games
Effect: +10% win rate in competitive games; +20% win rate in card games; +50% win rate in card-based competitive games.
Value: 26,000
Yugi's expression became subtly complex.
He knew the title "King of Games" all too well—it was the honor he and Atem had earned together. But what were those effects supposed to be?
Why didn't I know the title "King of Games" had these effects?
More importantly… it's pretty valuable!
The reason he treasured the title wasn't for the effects, but because it symbolized the bond between him and Atem. It was proof Atem had once remained in this world.
But now…
I'm going to see Atem again anyway. The title isn't that important anymore.
With that thought, Yugi decided to ask Mu Yang whether selling the title would have any consequences.
"Consequences? None at all~"
Mu Yang raised one finger and explained, "A title is basically a buff or enhancement. Wearing it boosts one or several aspects of your abilities.
Your title comes from your experiences and your duelist 'Power.' Selling it won't cause you trouble. At most, you'll feel a bit weakened for a while, since some of your 'Power' will be extracted. You'll recover after some time."
"Thank you."
After hearing Mu Yang's explanation, Yugi immediately sold the title of King of Games. He stood still for a while, waiting—yet felt no weakness at all.
So the weakness doesn't appear physically? Then where does it show?
A duelist's power… Could it show up during duels?
If weakness only shows in duels, I don't really mind.
Yugi thought casually. Since he would soon be able to meet Atem again, he would obviously want to catch up with him, not go off to duel people.
With that in mind, Yugi bought the terminal and planned to—wait. How was he supposed to send the terminal to Atem?
There was definitely an answer somewhere in the shop, but it would take time to look.
So Yugi chose the shortcut. "Boss Mu, may I ask—if I want to give this terminal to my friend, and that friend happens to be in the Underworld… how should I send it to him?"
Mu Yang knew exactly who he meant. He pointed Yugi directly toward a viable solution.
"Go to the shop and buy an item like 'Courier.'"
Hearing this, Yugi thanked him again and purchased a messenger bird. It was far cheaper than a travel voucher.
The messenger bird could cross worlds and deliver an item weighing less than one kilogram. It could only be used once.
The phantasmal bird opened its beak and swallowed the terminal and the letter Yugi had just written, storing them in the space within its belly. With a cry, it spread its wings and flew into the void.
Yugi watched the messenger bird disappear, then withdrew his gaze and walked to the edge of the deck. He leaned against the railing, staring out at the deep blue sea.
Only the boundless ocean could calm his nervous and excited heart.
Well… maybe it couldn't calm his rapidly pounding heart…
Seeing that the customer had finished shopping, Mu Yang didn't stay. He walked over to the lounge chair and lay down.
He picked up the World Economy News and began reading.
He had to admit, Morgans was a real talent. Reporters around the world acted as his eyes and ears. Most of the time, he obtained intelligence earlier than the World Government.
Mu Yang took a sip of his drink and quietly read the newspaper.
The sailboat, pushed forward by the currents and wind, sped across the vast sea. But the ocean was so immense that even at high speed, it felt as if they were barely moving—though they were indeed advancing.
Proof of this was that the ship had already sailed out of the peaceful, sunlit waters and into the Serpent Seas.
Those long, twisting ocean currents—serpentine waves winding through the world like water snakes—slithered across sea and sky. Yugi's heartbeat immediately grew stronger.
