Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: The True Form of the God

At that moment, Gilles de Rais, who had been quietly standing on the water, began walking forward, just like King Arthur, who could also fight on the surface.

But now, even though Gilles de Rais still looked like himself, his entire body was radiating an aura that made Tia feel extremely heavy and tense.

Tia frowned slightly, feeling an odd wave of fatigue wash over her.

"Tia, fall back. Let me handle this. You can't deal with him yet."

Tia didn't like it, but her mind really did feel off all of a sudden. It seemed this Gilles de Rais had truly… turned into that god?

Tia retreated into the depths of her consciousness, and Senji Muramasa stepped out, releasing his full power. The anti-god EX skill powered by his will was already stirring inside him, ready to strike.

Gilgamesh stood at the bow of Vimana, his usual amused smile completely gone, replaced by a grim expression. It was clear—this Gilles de Rais was indeed a god.

In the distance, Waver's body was already starting to sway. Alexander the Great wasn't affected at all, but when he looked at Gilles de Rais, he felt something strange—he couldn't sense his existence at all, and a strong feeling told him he shouldn't fight this being. So he returned to Waver's side, grabbed him, and moved far away.

Alexander hadn't planned to retreat at first, but after seeing Waver's condition, he knew staying would put him in danger.

As for Emiya Kiritsugu and Irisviel, they weren't affected at all.

"Oh? No one fell asleep?" Gilles de Rais's voice hadn't changed, but it felt like some other overwhelming being was mimicking his tone.

"Hmph! You dare try a simple hypnosis spell on me? Even if you're a god, it won't work! Before me, even a god must obey my judgment!" Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes, locked his eyes on Gilles de Rais. In the next instant, the sound of clashing chains rang through the air as Enkidu's Chains appeared and bound Gilles tightly.

"A mere Servant dares think you can bind me?" Gilles's voice turned icy cold, filled with contempt for Gilgamesh's chains. But when he tried to break free and move forward, he realized he couldn't budge an inch—the chains had completely restrained him.

"What is this!" Gilles looked down in shock. It was obvious the god inside him had no idea what Gilgamesh was.

"You don't even know the Chains of Heaven and still call yourself a god? What a joke!" Gilgamesh laughed triumphantly as he watched Gilles completely trapped.

Gilles frowned deeply, and in the next second, countless tentacles burst from under his feet, wrapping around the chains and crawling toward their ends.

Gilgamesh froze for a moment, then instantly realized what those tentacles were trying to do.

"You dare!" Without hesitation, Gilgamesh pulled out Ea, his strange cylindrical sword with three rotating segments.

Without even chanting the activation words, he unleashed its power immediately.

The three cylindrical segments spun in different directions, generating an immense spiral wind that tore toward Gilles.

In an instant, Gilles's body was ripped apart by Ea's attack. The Chains of Heaven fell uselessly into the water and were recalled by the King of Heroes.

But right at that moment, countless bubbles started rising from the water, spreading more and more until they covered the whole surface.

No one knew what was coming up from below, and no one dared to check.

Just as Senji Muramasa was about to take a look himself, a massive creature suddenly emerged from the bubbles—much bigger than the giant octopus from before, and even larger than the huge sea monster outside the church.

This thing was at least 300 meters tall, so huge that even people far away in the night could see it.

Tia even saw a plane flying overhead to check out the situation, but as soon as it got close to the 300-meter monster, it lost power, fell straight down, and was grabbed by the monster's tentacles before being swallowed whole.

The creature still looked like an octopus on the outside. As Muramasa observed it, Tia wondered if this was really Cthulhu. In Cthulhu Mythos, she only knew Cthulhu and Nyarlathotep. As for the ones that possessed Yang Guifei, Katsushika Hokusai, Abigail, the leader, or Van Gogh, she had no idea—she only knew they were Outer Gods.

But as the giant octopus appeared, King Arthur's holy sword—though she had used her Noble Phantasm earlier and was a bit drained—suddenly gave off a very strange reaction.

That reaction made the monster focus on King Arthur first.

When King Arthur saw several tentacles coming at her, she quickly used the Wind King Barrier, but this time the tentacles weren't blown away. With no choice, she prepared to cut off a tentacle and break out of the encirclement.

But then, Senji Muramasa made his move.

He casually forged a weapon on the spot and slashed at the mass of tentacles. In an instant, countless severed tentacles splashed into the water.

"Hmph! Just as I thought, your true form is nothing more than a giant deep-sea octopus!" Gilgamesh smirked. The Chains of Heaven appeared again and bound the monster. "God Slayer, if you don't act now, this king will do the job myself!"

Gilgamesh once again activated Ea.

"A god from the deep sea—no matter how powerful you think you are, before my Ea, you're nothing but a target for annihilation! Die and behold! Enuma Elish!"

Ea unleashed its spiral storm once more, surging straight toward the massive 300-meter octopus. The entire monster was engulfed by Ea's power. However…

"Impressive, very powerful—you truly managed to hurt me. If I were a god from your world, I might have been defeated. Unfortunately, I come from the Abyss—I am nothing like any of your gods!"

The monster, which had taken a nearly full-force strike from Ea, claimed to be hurt, but there was no visible damage.

At that moment, Tia seized the chance to start creating the holy sword.

But Tia didn't notice that King Arthur's holy sword was starting to undergo a strange change.
