Chapter 40 - Showdown Against Jack (4)

Ray was watching all three of the fights from outside the formation, and beside him was his mother, controlling the formation. Nina was dodging everything, still unaware of where her enemy was. She had no idea that the very enemy she was searching for was outside the formation, controlling it.

Alicia and Elizabeth were in a stalemate, but if you watched closely, Alicia had the upper hand in the fight.

Meanwhile, Jack was engaged in a head-on battle with Robert. Though they were also locked in a stalemate, Jack seemed to have a different idea in mind when he attacked. Suddenly, Jack gave an evil grin. Seeing that, Robert felt a bad premonition.

Jack, who had swung to block Robert's attack, suddenly let Robert's strike come toward him faster. Then, Jack swung his own powerful attack upward, and with the combined force of his attacks, Robert's attack was deflected upward. The fused attacks shot through the roof and smashed into the formation that Diana was maintaining, breaking through it and soaring into the sky.

Robert now understood Jack's intention. He wanted to attract the soldiers and guards. But what Robert didn't know was that Jack wasn't aiming for the guards—he had another target.

Jack looked up at the sky and said, "You would have won this fight since this body is not mine to begin with. I can only use 90% of this body's strength. That's the limit. But I need some help, and I do not feel shame for it—my goal is entirely different."

Alicia and Elizabeth stopped fighting when they saw the gaping hole above. Diana began repairing her formation, while Nina, who had been running and dodging, started to feel the side effects of the prolonged fight. She wouldn't be able to continue fighting for more than a minute.

Just then, all the guards and the wives of Daymond arrived to investigate. The five concubines came running and asked, "What is going on here?"

Before anyone could speak, Elizabeth declared, "Sisters, these traitors are attacking us! They want to kill us and take over the kingdom!"

She continued trying to convince her sister concubines. But before she could speak further, Alicia interjected, "Sisters, she is lying. She's trying to stop me and the others because she poisoned Daymond and had someone possess our husband's soul. If you want proof, go to the library's secret room. Our husband left some clues there with the library caretaker."

Hearing that, Elizabeth, Nina, and Jack were all shocked. They had never heard anything about such a thing before. Jack was especially terrified at the mention of the library. He knew that if he ever went inside, he wouldn't come out the same. He always avoided the library and had warned Elizabeth not to go near it.

Jack had once tried to sense the library using his soul and immediately felt a sense of danger. When he saw the library caretaker looking directly at him, sweat poured down his face, and he ran away. He later discovered that the library caretaker could not leave the library, and that limitation was the only reason Jack's plan had been progressing so far.

Elizabeth wanted to respond, but the five concubines trusted Alicia. They knew Alicia would never lie, especially since she was one of the wives who truly loved Daymond. As they prepared to attack Jack and Elizabeth, a sudden trembling began.

At that moment, Ray, Diana, and Robert received a message from one of Diana's shadow guards: the three other Dukes were coming, and they were bringing nobles ranging from barons to earls.

Robert looked at Jack, who was still grinning, and realized what that earlier grin meant—it was a signal to the Dukes and their forces. Robert chuckled, shook his head, then raised his sword and released a lightning flare to signal his own allies.

Seeing this, Jack narrowed his eyes and said, "I have three Dukes and their men coming to help me. What can your measly few barons and earls possibly do?"

Robert replied, "If it were only them, I would've run away. But you forgot—my son has built his own connections. He has already sent word to them. Look up. Those allies are here."

Jack looked up through the hole he had created—and saw multiple floating objects in the sky. Hot air balloons were descending. These were the inventors who had responded after Ray promised to share a new invention idea if they helped deal with the issue concerning the king.

Suddenly, Jack realized that they were at a disadvantage. All the hot air balloons were now in Alicia's control on their side. He sighed, knowing the plan had failed, and gave a signal to Elizabeth and Nina.

Nina immediately threw pills in every direction, creating clouds of smoke that blanketed the area.

Three souls—those of Elizabeth, Daymond, and Roxanne—suddenly flew out of their respective bodies and shot away. Their bodies dropped one after the other, unconscious and unaware of what had just happened. Jack and the others had ensured that the original souls wouldn't resist during the escape.

Before anyone could react, the two women's souls teleported away using teleportation talismans. Jack, however, had a different plan. He shot up through the hole he'd created and spotted Ray standing beside Diana, who was still focused on repairing the formation.

Jack flew at top speed toward Ray and, without hesitation, passed directly through Ray's body, attempting to take it over by force. Diana, sensing something coming toward them, abandoned her work on the formation—but she was too late to stop the incoming soul.

Jack's soul pierced through Ray's body, right before Diana's eyes.

"No!" Diana screamed and rushed toward Ray to see what was happening. She extended her soul sense, and then she heard Ray's voice from within:

"Mother, I just got a huge opportunity. You need to take me away quickly. I need to concentrate on cultivating."

Hearing that, Diana didn't care about the formation or anything else anymore. She pulled out a teleportation talisman and disappeared with Ray.
