Chapter 198 - Silver Defends Him

"Sometimes you fight for someone else."

Silver was trying very hard to focus on her coffee and not on the conversation happening three tables over.

The Blue State Coffee on York Street was packed with the usual Thursday afternoon crowd. The anonymity of being surrounded by people who weren't paying attention to her.

Today, she couldn't escape.

"I'm just saying, Rivers has been off all week." The voice carried across the café despite the general noise. Male, probably a sophomore based on the hockey jacket. "Did you see practice yesterday? He's a mess."

Silver kept her eyes on her Economics textbook. Not your problem. Not your business.

"Dude got benched." Another voice, this one laughing. "Against Brown. That's embarrassing."

"Coach is probably regretting that recruitment pitch."
