Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: George the Points-Getting Maniac

History of Magic Class ended, and George was no longer alone; he was surrounded by young Wizards.

"Did you really memorize that many magic books?"

"Yes, my memory is quite good."

"I heard you're going to win the House Cup for Slytherin?"

"Of course."

On the way back, facing questions from his fellow first-year Slytherin young Wizards, George handled them with ease, always appearing confident but not arrogant, and quickly integrated with them.

Even his three roommates, whom he had beaten up earlier, looked at him with a hint of admiration.

This is how Slytherin works: as long as you are a Slytherin, and you are excellent enough to win honor and benefits for them, they will instinctively gather around you.

As a first-year student, George earned an impressive fifty points for Slytherin in the very first class of the semester, which was a source of pride for all the first-year students.

Of course, if George wanted to truly become a leader in Slytherin, this achievement alone was far from enough.

But at least it was a good start.

The news of him earning fifty points for Slytherin from Professor Binns in History of Magic Class quickly spread among the young Wizards and was soon known by most teachers and students throughout the school.

Actually, it wouldn't normally be that fast, but Professor Binns was famously stingy with points, and George's speech from that morning was still a hot topic, so the two events converged.

The benefit was that when he sat in the Slytherin common room reading that evening, older Slytherin students would occasionally come over to greet and introduce themselves to him.

Even Malfoy, who wanted to cause trouble for him, was stopped by the Prefect.

The next day, both morning classes were Transfiguration Class, taken with the first-year Hufflepuff students.

As soon as George walked into the classroom, he was given a look of attention by the Hufflepuff young Wizards; clearly, they had also heard about George earning fifty points for Slytherin yesterday.

However, they did not provoke him; most Hufflepuff young Wizards have relatively good personalities and were simply curious.

"Meow!"

Just as Transfiguration Class was about to begin, a tabby cat walked in from the doorway, and then, to the exclamations of the young Wizards, transformed into Professor McGonagall, dressed in deep green robes.

"Animagus transformation."

When George saw McGonagall transform from a cat to a person, his eyes couldn't help but sparkle slightly.

This was a very advanced type of Transfiguration, allowing one to permanently transform into a specific animal; although it couldn't be a magic creature and could only be one type, he still found it very useful.

Because no matter what animal it was, as long as it wasn't too conspicuous, it was an excellent disguise.

This disguise was very useful whether for gathering intelligence, escaping, or tracking.

Imagine you are being chased by a large group of Agents, monitored by satellites, with countless sniper rifles in the distance, and nowhere to escape.

But if you mastered Animagus transformation, you could just find a house, go inside, and transform into an ordinary creature to hide and escape.

If it were a cat, it might still arouse some suspicion, but if it were something like a fly, mosquito, or ladybug, then it would truly be unimpeded.

"Transfiguration is the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn in Hogwarts. Anyone who misbehaves in my class will be asked to leave and never allowed back in.

I have warned you!"

Professor McGonagall walked onto the podium, first giving a stern warning, then waved her wand and easily transformed the desk into a pig, and then back again.

Seeing this, the students were all captivated, wishing they could immediately begin learning this magical magic.

However, after an hour of theoretical knowledge explanation from Professor McGonagall, they realized how difficult it was to transform such a large podium into a pig.

"As expected, a famous Professor is different."

After listening to the theoretical class, George was filled with emotion.

Transfiguration being singled out from all spells as a separate subject indicates that this subject is much more profound than other magic.

Although he himself had spent time researching it, and had even truly memorized the entire textbook (History of Magic Class mainly relied on computer cheating), there were still many, many things he didn't understand.

Even when he asked Tonks several times, he still couldn't quite understand her explanations.

This is like studying advanced mathematics; even if you memorize the entire textbook, you might not score many points.

And Professor McGonagall, as a top Transfiguration master with many years of teaching experience, her explanation allowed George to suddenly have a breakthrough in his understanding of Transfiguration.

"Slytherin, five points!"

Before the end of the first class, there was naturally a question-and-answer session, and George unhesitatingly earned five points.

There was no way around it; two brains naturally had strong memories, and the other one was even taking notes on a computer. Not to mention proper knowledge points, even Professor McGonagall's scolding words were recorded verbatim.

Moreover, Professor McGonagall was not like Professor Snape; she was most concerned with fairness and treated all students equally, not deliberately making things difficult for George or refusing to give him points just because he was a Slytherin.

On the contrary, seeing George's perfect answer and his own understanding of Transfiguration, a rare smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.

The first class was theory, and the second was naturally a practical class.

Professor McGonagall gave each of them a matchstick and asked them to use a basic Deformation Curse to turn it into a needle.

But this was clearly not easy for the young Wizards; they chanted spells again and again, waved their wands again and again, but the matchstick remained a matchstick. Only a few talented young Wizards saw some changes in their matchsticks, but they were still a distance away from becoming a needle.

"Don't give up, practice more, think about the key points I taught you last class: the speed and rhythm of the spell, the angle of the wand's swing, and most importantly, your heart. You must firmly believe that you can turn it into a needle."

Professor McGonagall walked around the classroom, constantly correcting some young Wizards' Errors in spellcasting.

However, when she walked in front of George's position, her eyes couldn't help but light up:

"Slytherin, another five points!"

Because she saw a perfect needle; not only was the needle tip very sharp, but even the eye of the needle had no flaws.

Hearing Professor McGonagall's additional points, the young Wizards all turned their gaze to George's side, and seeing the perfect needle on his desk, they also showed expressions of envy and admiration.

At this moment, George had a slight smile on his face and did not say anything surprising again.

In fact, after the first class, he had already grasped a key to Transfiguration, or rather, the key to most magic.

That is the power of the mind, the power of belief.

When learning a new spell, the spell and the wand are only aids; otherwise, Wizards would not be able to cast spells silently and wandlessly.

The most important thing is the mind, which is mental power; this is the fundamental of magic completion.

It is often said that the magic in the Harry Potter World is very idealistic, and there is some truth to it.

He happened to have a great advantage in this regard, because in addition to being a Wizard, he also possessed the mental power of a Level 2 Mutant.

So, after learning the theoretical knowledge from Professor McGonagall, he succeeded in turning the matchstick into a needle after only a few attempts.

Crucially, he felt that with his mental power, he might be able to do more than just that.

Perhaps he couldn't turn the podium into a pig, but he should now be able to transform something a little larger, like objects the size of a fist.
