Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 Dusk Wolf's Concerns

Texas, El Paso County, early morning.

Logan, who had just dropped off his last customer, was tiredly sleeping in his rented limousine when he was awakened by the noisy sounds outside.

"Damn it!"

He cursed angrily and had no choice but to painstakingly get up and push open the car door.

He often encountered such things; it must be those hooligans who had sneaked over from Mexico, eyeing his luxury car, wanting to remove the wheels to sell for money.

However, at this moment, he could not let those hooligans succeed, because he still needed to earn money with this rented car, and he needed money very much now.

Professor's illness required money to buy medicine to maintain it, and he had also been saving money to buy a yacht to take Professor to live on the safe open sea.

Having lived so many years and experienced the deaths of friends and lovers, he was actually tired of his own life.

His only thought now was to give Charles, his only old friend who had once redeemed him and was still alive, a decent old age.

And if he let these hooligans remove the wheels, he would not only have to compensate the rental company but also be unable to continue this stable job.

"Hey, these lug nuts are all chrome-plated, and you guys have ruined them. You guys, get out of here..."

Leaning on the car door, Logan wanted to persuade these hooligans to leave without resorting to violence, but the result was obviously not as he wished.

When the hooligans saw the car owner appear, they did not run away immediately; instead, they raised their hands and shot Logan, then continued to remove the wheels.

Killing seemed as simple as eating and drinking to them.

Logan's self-healing ability had greatly diminished due to the toxins in the Adamantium, but such an injury was not enough to kill him.

He slowly got up, released his Wolverine claws, and went forward to fight with the hooligans.

However, due to his aging body and lack of sufficient rest, he was quickly beaten to the ground by the six hooligans surrounding him, only able to protect his head with both hands, waiting for an opportunity to counterattack.

"George, can he really help us now?"

In the truck, Gabriella asked with some concern.

After rerouting to El Paso County and searching for a full four hours, they finally found Wolverine Logan's whereabouts, but the current situation made her lose some confidence.

George smiled and nodded:

"Of course he can, and he can be of great help."

Don't look at Wolverine like this now; when he really gets serious, a few more won't be his opponents.

If a way to remove the Adamantium toxins could be found in the future, then Wolverine's body would recover to its peak youthful state.

It should be known that Apocalypse, who also gained self-healing abilities, lived for thousands of years without any aging.

"You wait for me here, I'll go talk to him first."

Pushing open the car door, George jumped down and used his ability to control two daggers to slash at the necks of those hooligans.

For such hooligans who had no moral bottom line and casually killed innocent people, he naturally would not have any good intentions and aimed for vital points with his attack.

"Swish, swish, swish, swish."

Several sounds of tracheas being cut by sharp blades rang out consecutively, and the hooligans who were kicking Wolverine instantly covered their necks and fell down in disbelief.

Wolverine noticed the abnormality, released his arms, and also looked surprised.

At this moment, a hand reached out to him.

"Are you alright, Wolverine Logan."

"Friend, you might have mistaken me for someone else. I am not Wolverine, but thank you for your help."

Logan did not reach out his hand but slowly stood up himself.

George didn't mind, withdrew his hand, and continued:

"My name is George, and I am a Mutant. We also have thirty-five Mutant children here, and we need your and Professor's help."

"Mutants? Mutants have long disappeared. There are no Mutants in this World anymore, and there is no Wolverine or Professor."

Wolverine shook his head, squatted down with some difficulty, wanting to pick up the scattered lug nuts on the ground to restore the car's tires.

George waved his hand, and the scattered lug nuts on the ground instantly floated up and fell into his hand.

"There are indeed few naturally occurring Mutants left, but there are still many Mutants created by human experiments. For example, I am a Mutant synthesized from Professor and Magneto's genes."

"Who exactly are you?"

Wolverine saw the lug nuts floating in the air, and a vigilant look appeared in his eyes, his Wolverine claws extended again, although one was stuck halfway.

George paused at the sight, then waved towards the truck parked by the roadside not far away.

A moment later, Gabriella led Little Wolf Girl and thirty-five other Mutant children slowly walked over.

"Show Mr. Logan your abilities."

Little Wolf Girl extended her Adamantium Wolverine claws, Ricktor made a wall of earth rise from the ground, and the other children also used their respective abilities, controlling Wind, controlling Fire, controlling Plants, controlling Water and electricity, and also exhaling cold air, and so on.

Although the power was not great because they had not yet developed them, they could indeed prove their Mutant identities.

"Mr. Logan, George didn't lie to you. We just escaped from the Mexico City Genetic Modification Research Base, and they—"

Gabriella recounted her experiences and the situation at the Research Base in detail.

After listening, Wolverine took a deep breath, looked at George and the children, and refused with some difficulty:

"I'm afraid I can't, and I don't have the ability to help you."

His own life and death didn't matter, but Professor's current situation didn't allow him to get involved in such troublesome matters again. If not handled well, it might implicate Professor and lead to his death.

So, even though he was reluctant, he still refused at this time.

Gabriella's eyes darkened at the words, but George had long expected it and did not give up because of it.

He knew the reason for Wolverine's refusal, and he also knew that Wolverine was essentially a kind person. As long as he was given a reasonable step, it would be easy to persuade him.

"At the experimental Base, I once inadvertently saw information related to the Westchester incident. You are working so hard driving to earn money, which should also be to cure Professor's illness.

By helping us, you are actually helping Professor and helping yourself.

If according to our plan, Professor will receive the best medicine and equipment in the World for treatment in the future, he might even recover to normal."

"But have you ever thought that the famous playboy Tony Stark might not repay us, but instead might betray us?

Not everyone in this World is willing to repay you after being saved. Many, for the sake of profit, might even retaliate with greater intensity."

Wolverine replied after a moment of silence.

He had a deep understanding of such matters.

Once on the battlefield during World War II, he saved an officer, but later, when that officer was about to die of old age, he actually coveted his self-healing ability, wanting to kill him and take away his self-healing ability to keep himself alive.
