We see the window overlooking Beacon Academy from the new room of Team RWBY (Ruby), before panning over to Weiss sleeping soundly in her bed. Her eyes flutter open and she stretches her arms above herself, yawning, while Ruby, dressed in her strangely-colored school uniform, creeps up on her side and suddenly blows a whistle, causing Weiss to fall off the bed.
Ruby: "Good morning, Team Ruby!"
Weiss: (from the floor) "What in the world is wrong with you?"
Ruby: (ignoring the question) "Now that you're awake, we can officially begin our first order of business."
Weiss: (getting up and brushing herself off) "Excuse me?"
Yang: (holding a collection of objects - pillows, pamphlets, a candle-holder - in her arms, also dressed alongside Blake) "Decorating!"
Weiss: "What?!"
Blake: (lifting her suitcase) "We still have to unpack. (the suitcase opens, spilling its contents) Aaaand clean."
Weiss does not look enthusiastic, especially when Ruby knocks her back again with the blow of her whistle.
Ruby: "Aaaalright! Weiss, Blake, Yang, and their fearless leader Ruby have begun their first mission! (raises her fist into the air) Banzai!"
Ruby, with Blake and Yang: (doing the same at her sides) "Banzai!" (they turn at an angle as Weiss lays on the floor and upbeat montage music starts playing)
Yang places a poster of six guys in various poses named "THE ACHIEVE MEN" on her part of the room. Weiss positions the painting of the Forever Fall forest to perfection and walks away. Blake is busy putting away her books on the shelves, before picking up a copy of Ninjas of Love and widening her eyes as she warily looks around before putting it back. Ruby positions Crescent Rose at an exact angle against the curtains so she can perfectly slash a diagonal portion off. A quick zoom around the room (and the repaired curtains) ends with the girls admiring their handiwork... with one problem. The beds are cramped together in the center of the floor.
Weiss: "This isn't going to work."
Blake: "It is a bit cramped."
Yang: Maybe we should ditch some of our stuff...
Ruby: "Or we could ditch the beds... and replace them with bunk beds!"
Weiss: "Umm, that sounds incredibly dangerous."
Yang: "And super-awesome!"
Blake: "It does seem efficient."
Weiss: "Well, we should put it to a vote!"
Ruby: "I think we just did."
To the sounds of two dings and a single buzz, Blake thumbs up at the idea, Yang makes a double-rocker gesture, and Weiss angrily curls her fists at her side. Decided, they rush at the beds, where sounds of jackhammering and sawing are heard until they gather back at the front of the room.
Ruby: "Objective: Complete!"
While Weiss' bed is simply on the ground next to her art and luggage, Blake's bed is next to her books, which are used to raise Yang's bed over it by placing the novels on the posts, and Ruby's is hanging from ropes on the ceiling with a blanket used as a tent over it.
Ruby: "Allllright! Our second order of business iiiiiiiis...! (the room spins until she lands on her bed and a book lands in her lap) Classes... (pulls out a pencil) Now, we have a few classes together today. At 9, we've got to be-"
Weiss: "What?! Did you just say 9 o'clock?"
Ruby: "Uuuum..."
Weiss: "It's 8:55, you dunce!"
Weiss is the first rushing out of the room and down the hall, the members of RWBY and JNPR peeking out from their doorways to look at her go.
Ruby: (flabbergasted until she decides) "To class!"
Ruby then runs out, only to be stopped by Nick and his teammates.
Nick: "Hold up, Rubes. I know a shortcut."
In the courtyard, Professor Ozpin and Glynda watch Weiss hurrying through the school. Glynda looks at her watch, and Ozpin simply sips his drink. Soon, Weiss manages enters the classroom, trying to catch her breath. Then...
????: "What took you so long?"
Weiss looks and is shocked to see Ruby, Yang and Blake, along with Team NAAE (Unimaginable), and Team JNPR (Juniper), all sitting at their seats behind desks.
Weiss: (shocked) "B-But...W-What...H-How...?!"
Nick: "Did you forget that I can create portals?"
We then cut to a flashback from yesterday, as Geats and Ruby both rejoin the others.
KR Geats: "Alright, gang! Let's book it!"
Blake: "I believe we all have a lot of questions at the moment."
KR Geats: "I'll answer any questions you guys have later, okay? For now, let's get going."
Geats then opens a portal leading back to the auditorium. Once there, everyone who's already there are shocked to see the Kamen Rider himself in person.
Ruby: "Um...Nick? Why is your belt smoking?"
KR Geats: "What 'cha talking about, Rubes?"
Geats then looks down at his Desire Driver, only to see smoke being released from the Boost Buckle as it started glowing.
KR Geats: "Oh crap. (to everyone in the auditorium) Everyone hit the deck!"
Geats then moves to the side, as the Boost Buckle, literally, blasts right of his Driver, at it started rocketing around the whole auditorium, while everyone else ducked down to avoid getting hit by the rocketing belt Buckle. The Boost Buckle then lands back on the stage, right next to Geats, who just picks it up, while everyone else stands back up.
Blake: "Um...What was that?"
KR Geats: "That would be what happens every time I use Boost Time for a finisher."
Weiss: "Every time you use that buckle?!"
Nick: (transforms back) "Only when using Boost Time."
Yang: "Hah!"
Nick then finger-gun points at Yang.
Back to the present...
The sight of an axe-blunderbuss weapon pans down to the boards displaying various species of Grimm - King Taijitu, Death Stalker, Beowolf, Boarbatusk, Nevermore, and Ursa - behind an elderly teacher named Peter Port.
Port: "Monsters! Deeeemons... Prowlers of the night! Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as prey! Ha-ha!"
The members of RWBY (Ruby), seated on the front row, are in varying stages of interest; Blake and Yang are sitting up and paying attention, Weiss is taking notes, and Ruby has her head propped in her hand as she takes a quick nap until she is woken back up by Port's bad joke, which receives a cricket-filled silence as a result. We also see Team NAAE (Unimaginable), who are sitting in the row behind Team RWBY (Ruby), with all four of them being bored, with Team JNPR (Juniper) sitting in the row behind them.
Port: "Uhhhh... And you shall too, upon graduating from this prestigious academy! Now, as I was saying: Vale, as well as the other three kingdoms, are safe havens in an otherwise treacherous world! Our planet is absolutely teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than to tear you to pieces! And that's where we come in. Huntsmen! Huntresses... (gives Yang a wink, which she groans uncomfortably at) Individuals who have sworn to protect those who cannot protect themselves! From what, you ask? Why, the very world!"
Student: (raises his fist) "Ayyyy-yep!" (stands like this for a moment as everyone looks at him strangely before sitting down, embarrassed)
Port: "That is what you are training to become. But first: A story. A tale of a young, handsome man... Me! When I was a boy..."
His words fade into the background (and a series of "blah"s) when Weiss notices Ruby is very focused on penciling the paper in front of her.
Port: "...Despite smelling of cabbages, my grandfather was a wise man. 'Peter', he told me..."
The speech evolves into more "blah"s as Ruby chuckles at her creation and shows it to her teammates: a ball-with-limbs-and-a-head drawing of the teacher with stink lines coming from him and "Professor Poop" written underneath. Ruby blows a quick raspberry. Blake and Yang laugh, but Weiss looks annoyed.
Port: "Ah-heh-hem!" (he waits until he has their attention again) In the end, the Beowolf was no match for my sheer tenacity, and I returned to my village with the beast in captivity and my head held high, celebrated as a hero!
The teacher takes a bow as Weiss slowly gets more and more frustrated with Ruby's antics.
Port: "The moral of this story?"
Nick: (whispers to his female teammates) "There's a moral?"
Port: "A true Huntsman must be honorable!"
Ruby is balancing an apple on a book with her pencil held only by her finger while making a silly face.
Port: "A true Huntsman must be dependable!"
Ruby has fallen asleep again in the first class of the year.
Port: "A true Huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise!"
Ruby is not-so-subtly picking her nose, much to Weiss' building anger.
Port: "So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?"
Weiss: (angrily raises her hand) "I do, sir!"
Nick: (whispers to his female teammates again) "Of course she does."
Port: "Well, then, I'm hoping that the Kamen Rider could show us what it means to be a true Huntsman!"
Nick: "Yeah, sure, I don't mind."
Port: "Very well then! (turns to gesture at the glowing red eyes surrounded by shadow shaking the cage that traps it) Step forward, Kamen Rider, and face your latest opponent!"
The unknown monster continues to growl as Nick steps into position, not bothering to get changed.
Port: (confused) "Are you not going to get changed into your combat outfit, or grab your weapon?"
Nick: "I don't need to. I'll be just fine."
Port: "Very well then."
Nick just stands there, after doing a few light stretches, as his teammates, along with Ruby, Yang and Blake, cheer him on from their seats.
Amber: "Good luck, Nick!"
Erza: "Show us your unrivaled skills, Kamen Rider!"
Atalanta: "Indeed!"
Yang: (raising her fist) "Goooo, Kamen Rider!"
Blake: (waving a small flag saying "Kamen Rider") "Fight well!"
Ruby: "Yeah, represent Teeeeam NAAE (Unimaginable)!"
Weiss: (looks over at her "leader") "Ruby! He's trying to focus!"
Ruby: (looking sheepish) "Oh, um... Sorry..."
Nick then looks at Weiss and Ruby, with the younger leader looking back at him. Nick just gives Ruby a warm smile and a thumbs up, much to her joy.
Nick: (thought) 'Now, which form should I go with this time? I've been Zi-O for a long time (no pun intended), I've already transformed into Geats during the initiation. So, who should I transform into this time? Kuuga...Agito...Hibiki...Den-O...Kiva...Ex-Aid...Build...Cross-Z...Revi...Zero-One...Gotchard...Gavv...maybe not Zeztz. So many options to choose from. Plus, I don't just transform into Kamen Riders, I could go with something else right now. I could manifest the Omnitrix, and turn into an alien, like Heatblast, my all time fav, or maybe Four Arms, or even Diamondhead. Or, I could morph into a Power Ranger instead, it would be pretty cool to fight as GozyuWolf, or Don Momotaro. I might not transform into a Tenkai Knight, like Bravenwolf. I'll probably save that for another time. What to go with for this fight. Actually, I don't even NEED to transform at all. I could just create a weapon and fight as myself. Yeah, I'll just do that. No need for me to take this fight seriously.'
Nick then opens a small portal, and slips his left hand through it, before pulling out a small box. He then opens the box, which contains cards, specifically; Future Card Buddyfight cards, and pulls out a card, with it depicting a sword.
Nick: "This'll do the trick. Equip, Arc Dragon Sword!"
The card then glows and turns into the sword itself. This makes everyone else surprised by Nick turning a card into an actual sword.
Port: "Allllright! (next to the cage, pulling out his weapon, Blowhard) Let the match... begin!"
The professor swings down and breaks the lock, dropping the cage door and revealing a boar Grimm called a Boarbatusk inside, which looks around until it spots Nick. Once it does so, the boar Grimm does something that confuses everyone else in the room. The Boarbatusk...started to slowly back away, and although it was hard to tell, it almost looked like the boar Grimm was...threatened...almost as if it was scarred of Nick.
Yang: "Um...Is it just me, or is that Grimm acting a little weird?"
Blake: "Yeah...It's almost like it's scarred of Nick."
Nick: (sighs. thought) 'Just great...this thing knows that I could easily destroy it within minutes, or even seconds, without a problem. Just like how all of the Grimm in the Emerald Forest avoided me and Amber during the initiation.'
Nick then turns his Arc Dragon Sword back into a card, slides it back into the card box, and puts it back through the small portal, before pulling out his Desire Driver, and placing it on his waist.
Desire Driver: Desire Driver.
Nick then holds out a new small Core, this one being purple and orange, with the image of a buffalo, as he places it into the center of his Driver.
Desire Driver: Entry.
Nick then summons two new Raise Buckles, one being colored purple, reassembling a rib cage, and the other being lime colored, reassembling a sleeping, cartoonish-looking teddy bear with a blue backward cap, a red band-aid on its forehead, and giant gloved hands on its side. Nick then places the purple Buckle on the right-hand side of his Desire Driver, and the teddy bear Buckle on the left-hand side.
Desire Driver: Set! Set!
The word "Zombie" then appears floating beside Nick on his right, while the word "Monster" appears on his left, as he then places his left hand to your right side, then draws a slow horizontal line, and finishes by thrusting his hand upwards into a claw-like pose.
Nick: "Kamen Rider!"
Nick then twists the key on the purple Buckle, causing it to open and reveal an orange claw, and hits the cap on the teddy bear Buckle, causing it to open it's eye, as if it woke up.
Desire Driver: Dual On! (Hard Rock music) Zombie. (Cartoonish noises) Monster. Ready, fight!
Nick then transforms into a new Kamen Rider, this time with a menacing buffalo-themed helmet with sharp horns and eyes, a rib cage-like chest, spiky shoulder armor, and a large zombie claw on his left hand, along with a bulky, monster-themed legs and lower body unit with blue and yellow armor, and large, heavy-duty boots on his feet. Seeing no way to escape, the Boarbatusk charges at the Kamen Rider, who simply backflips to the side.
Kamen Rider Buffa: "Just as I expected. It knew it couldn't get away, so it doesn't have a choice but to fight me."
Port: "Ha-ha! Now things get interesting!"
Ruby: "Hang in there, Nick!"
Buffa then speeds towards the oncoming Boarbatusk, sticking his claw straight at its skull until they meet and the Grimm is trapped in the Kamen Rider's grip. Buffa is still holding on to the boar Grimm's tusk, as the beast struggles to escape it's opponent's grip.
Port: "Bold, interesting new approach. I like it!"
Ruby: "Come on, Kamen Rider, show it who's boss!"
Weiss turns to glare at Ruby, while Buffa presses a button on the top of his Driver and rotates it 180-degrees.
Desire Driver: Revolve On!
Buffa's whole body then rotates 180-degrees, with lower-half of his body becoming the top-half, with his boots becoming gloves, and the Zombie upper-half becoming the lower half. While having his claw, which is now his right foot, caught in one of the boar Grimm's tusks, he then twists the key on the Zombie Buckle.
Desire Driver: Zombie Strike!
Buffa's right foot then starts to glow, as he kicks the Boarbatusk away, causing it to roll onto it's side, before it crashes into a desk, as it then stands back up.
Port: "Oh-ho! Now that was truly unexpected!"
Blake: "Did his body just rotate?"
Atalanta: "It looks like his belt can rotate, which seems to let him rotate his own body."
Erza: (seemingly amazed by what Buffa did) "That is truly remarkable!"
Buffa then looks up just in time to see the Boarbatusk, which managed to recover, charge at him again, as Buffa simply puts his hands forward and grabs the boar Grimm's tusks, holding his ground while the Boarbatusk attempts to push forward. Buffa then throws his opponent to the side, causing it to crash into a desk again.
Ruby: "Nick! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-"
Weiss: (turns to Ruby) "Stop telling him what to do!"
Ruby looks hurt at Weiss' rebuttal, with Buffa getting angry by how Weiss is treating Ruby. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leaps into the air and rolls into a ball, spinning rapidly in the air and landing on the ground, consistently gaining speed until it launches itself at Buffa. It comes closer and closer, but Buffa grabs the Grimm and tosses it into the air, and then activates his Driver's Revolve On function again, returning back from MonsterZombie Form to ZombieMonster Form, as he then uses his finisher again, driving his claws into the Boarbatusk's stomach, before slamming it onto the ground with intense force. It squeals and falls silent while Buffa sighs in relief.
Port: "Bravo! Bra-vo! It appears that we are indeed in the presence of a true legend! (as Buffa stands up and de-transforms back into Nick, while Ruby continues to frown) I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!"
Weiss glares and hurriedly walks to the exit past her teammates.
Jaune: (watching her leave) "Sheesh, what's with her?"
The remaining members of Team RWBY (Ruby) look at each other with the same question, while Nick just glares at where Weiss walk off to with an angry look on his face. We then see Weiss still storming off, but Ruby turns a corner and manages to catch up with her.
Ruby: "Weiss!"
Weiss: (turns around) "What?"
Ruby: "What's wrong with you? Why are you being-?"
Weiss: "What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You're supposed to be a leader, and all you've been so far is a nuisance!"
Ruby: (scoffs) "What did I do?"
Weiss: "That's just it - you've done nothing to earn your position! Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so!"
Ruby: "Weiss, where is this coming from? What happened to all the talk about 'working together'? I thought you believed in acting as a team."
Weiss: "Not a team led by you. I've studied and trained. And quite frankly, I deserve better. (turns her back to Ruby, trying to reach out but dropping her hand with the following words) Ozpin made a mistake." (about to walk away as Ruby looks dejected)
Nick: (walks up to them) "Oh, and making YOU the leader wouldn't be a mistake?"
Weiss: (turns towards him) "What do you mean by that? I'm-"
Nick: (on his breaking point) "You just be quite, alright?"
Weiss: "E-Excuse me?"
Nick: "You heard me. Shut it. Can it. Zip it. Shut your trap. Stop talking. Shut up. Nobody wants to hear you cry like a little baby. Ruby is a million times better of being a leader then you are, you spoiled brat."
Weiss: (angry) "How dare you! Who do you think y-"
She immediately stops talking when she realizes what she was about to say to Nick.
Nick: "What? Who do I think I am? Someone who's nothing like you."
Weiss: "Look, all I'm trying to say is I am much more fitting to be a lead-"
Before Weiss could finish, Nick transformed into Kamen Rider Buffa again, but this time in Fever Zombie Jyamashin Form.
KR Buffa (FZJ): (gets in Weiss' face) "SHUT UP, YOU STUPID, ARROGANT, SELFISH, SPOILED BRAT!!!! I'M FED UP WITH THAT STUPID, STUCK UP ATTITUDE OF YOURS, AND SUPERIORITY COMPLEX!!!! EVER SINCE WE GOT HERE, YOU'VE BEEN ACTING LIKE THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND YOU!!!! LIKE YOU'RE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE!!!! LIKE IT'S YOUR WAY, OR THE HIGH WAY!!!! LIKE YOU'RE PERFECT!!!! LIKE YOU'RE SOMEONE WITHOUT ANY FLAWS!!!! SOMEONE WHO CAN'T MAKE MISTAKES!!!! BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING!!!! YOU'RE NONE OF THOSE THINGS!!!! YOU'VE SPENT YOUR ENTIRE LIFE GETTING EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED, BUT NOW THAT SOMEONE ELSE GOT SOMETHING YOU WANT, YOU'RE THROWING A TEMPER TANTRUM!!!! YOU'RE ACTING EXACLTY LIKE YOUR FATHER, AND LOOK WHERE HE IS RIGHT NOW!!!! IN PRISON!!!! AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, YOU DON'T BELONG HERE!!!! AND YOU DON'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES, NOR DESERVE, TO BE A EITHER A LEADER, NOR A HUNTRESS!!!! SO WHY DON'T YOU JUST DO EVERYONE A FAVOR, AND GO BACK TO ATLAS, WHERE YOU BELONG!!!! AND WHERE PEOPLE ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR STUPID, PITIFUL, MEANINGLESS EXSISTENCE!!!! AND ALSO, NOW I WISH I NEVER BOTHERED HELPING YOUR FAMILY, AND I SHOULD'VE JUST LET THE SCHNEE NAME AND COMPANY GO A THOUSAND FEET UNDER!!!!"
Hearing all of this causes Weiss to become completely shocked, as she is now greatly terrified by Nick's anger. Buffa then transforms back to normal, but still has an angry look on his face.
Nick: "This is why I HATE rich people. You're just a bunch of good for nothings. And another thing, Ruby's mom was the leader of her own team when she was a student here at Beacon. Come on, Rubes, let's go. (looks back at Weiss) Stupid Atlesians."
With that, Nick and Ruby walk away, leaving Weiss with a shocked and hurt expression on her face from Nick lashing out on her. We then see a flashback to sometime before Weiss left for Beacon, sometime after her battle against an Arma Gigas, as we see the Atlas Military arresting Weiss' father, Jacques Schnee, for his corrupt, shady, business methods, dealings, and illegal mistreatment of Faunus employees. It is also revealed that on Weiss' 10th birthday, the Kamen Rider, Nick, talked to her mother, Willow Schnee, who agreed to help him gather evidence of Jacques' wrong doings, which Nick gave to General James Ironwood and Winter Schnee, Weiss' older sister. This leading to Jacques and Willow getting divorced, and Willow becoming the new, "rightful", CEO of the Schnee Dust Company, it's also revealed that the Kamen Rider told Weiss that she should try to be more like her grandfather, Nicholas Schnee, and not like her father. We then return to the present, as Weiss feels ashamed that she forgot what Nick told her at that time.
Ozpin: (standing right behind a surprised Weiss with a coffee in one hand and his cane in the other) "Hmm... Now that didn't seem to go very well."
Weiss: (looking doubtful) "Is he right? Do I not belong here? Or deserve to be a leader, or Huntress? Is Ruby a better leader then me?"
Ozpin: (laughing slightly) "That remains to be seen."
Weiss: "What do you mean?"
Ozpin: "I mean, it's only been one day. So it's too soon to judge whether or not if someone is suited to be a leader. Weiss...I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet. But at this moment, I would not consider Ruby's appointment to leader to be one of them. (leans in so he can look more directly at Weiss) Perhaps you shouldn't either? Don't forget, Ruby was personally recommended by Nick, who we all now know is the Kamen Rider. Not to mention, Ruby also skipped two grades because of that. I feel like something like that earns her much praise. With all due respect, your exceptional skills on the battlefield are matched only by your poor attitude."
Weiss: "But..."
Ozpin: "Nick is also right about other things, too. Like him, I see, before me, a girl who has spent her entire life getting exactly what she wanted."
Weiss: (crossing her arms, trying to look defiant) "That's not even remotely true, sir. (under the headmaster's gaze, she reluctantly relents) Well...not entirely true."
Ozpin: "Being a team leader isn't just a title you carry into battle, but a badge you wear constantly. If you're not always performing at your absolute best, then what reason do you give others to follow you? So the outcome did not fall in your favor. Do you really believe that acting in such a manner would cause those in power to reconsider their decision? (as Weiss looks at him again) So instead of fretting about what you don't have, savor what you do. Hone your skills, perfect every technique, and be not the best leader, but the best person you can be."
Weiss smiles a little at the words of wisdom. Meanwhile, we then see Nick and Ruby walking down the hall.
Ruby: (stops walking) "Hey, Nick? Can I ask you something?"
Nick: (looks at her) "Yeah. Sure, Rubes. What's up?"
Ruby: (looking doubtful, even on the verge of tears) "Was she right? Did Ozpin make a mistake to make me the leader?"
Seeing her like this makes Nick shocked.
Pretend the background behind Nick turns black, and lightning strikes behind him.
Nick: (thought) 'AHH!!! Oh no! Ruby is to pure, cheerful, innocent, and adorable to be sad! I hate seeing her like this!'
Not knowing what else to do, Nick brings Ruby into a gentle hug.
Ruby: (slightly embarrassed by the hug) "Umm...Nick? What are you doing?"
Nick: "Ruby...Ozpin didn't make a mistake. The thing about the initiation, is that Ozpin chooses a leader based on who shows the most leadership skills. Just like what you did during the initiation. And besides, it's only the first day. You'll get plenty of chances to show that you DO deserve, and have what it takes, to be a leader. Don't forget, I personally recommended you to be enrolled here two years early, remember?"
Hearing this makes Ruby smile in happiness. Nick then lets her go, and creates a cookie out of thin air.
Nick: (holds the cookie in front of Ruby) "Here. Will this cheer you up?"
Ruby: (surprised to see a cookie appear out of nowhere, before shyly accepting the cookie) "Thank you. (she then takes a bit) It's really tasty."
Nick: (warmly smiles) "It's strawberry, chocolate chip."
Amazed by this, Ruby happily eats the cookie, as she and Nick continue walking.
Time Skip...
We then see the full,-ish, moon shine over the green lights of Beacon, and in the room of Team RWBY (Ruby), the door opens and Weiss' shadow is seen against the hall's light. Blake is sleeping under the covers, Yang is spread out on her bed and snoring, and when Weiss lifts the blanket of Ruby's tent, she finds the occupant with her head resting on notes, a pencil in her hand, and open books all around her. Weiss, looking amazed at Ruby's determination, clears her throat and gently shakes the other girl awake, who takes a second to regain consciousness and start flailing in surprise.
Ruby: "Weiss! I-I was just studying, and then I fell asleep! I'm sorry..."
Weiss places a hand over Ruby's mouth and puts a finger to her own so Ruby understands the need for lowering her voice. Weiss looks near Ruby's pillow and spots an empty Beacon coffee mug.
Weiss: (lowering her hand) "How do you take your coffee?"
Ruby: "I...I don't..."
Weiss: (calmly) "Just answer the question."
Ruby: "Uhh, cream and five sugars?"
Weiss: (sighs) "Don't move. (she ducks under to her own bed and comes back up a moment later with a fresh cup, offering it to Ruby) Here."
Ruby: "Um...Thanks, Weiss."
Weiss: (smiles, then looks apologetic) "Ruby, I think you have what it takes to be a good leader. (Ruby smiles appreciatively) Just know that I am going to try and be the best teammate you'll ever have! (they share a smile) Good luck studying! (ducks under, only to come up and point at one of Ruby's papers) That's wrong, by the way. (ducks under again, and her voice comes from the doorway this time) And, Ruby?"
Ruby: "Uh-huh?"
Weiss: (stands in the door with her hand on the knob) "I've actually always wanted bunk beds as a kid." (she starts to close the door)
Ruby, grinning at the progress with her friend, goes back to her notes as scene fades to black.
