Chapter 30 - ch: 29 her chaos, his crown

Keifer's PoV

The city was louder than my heartbeat. New York skyline rose like a crown of fire against the early evening sky. But all I could think of was her. Jay. Her voice lingers in my mind, echoing in the empty void. Jay—my chaos, my ruin, my reason. Every passing car, laughter across the corner of the streets felt like a whisper of her presence

The driver's voice broke through my thoughts "sir we're almost at the venue"

I nodded absently, my fingers tightening around my phone, still warm from her call,I don't know if I can forgive you or not but for the sake of us I'll forgive you

I clung to those words like a lifeline. It wasn't forgiveness yet, but it was hop.

But hope is dangerous. Hope meant I might get her back— but it also meant that I might lose her forever.....

Inside the hotel, cameras flashed, ppl shook my hand congratulating me for success as if I already owned the company. But none of this mattered if she wasn't there—the success, the company, inheritance nothing mattered

Cause she wasn't there, her eyes locking in mine,. Her chaos was always mine, my storm was always hers, together we buit something raw, with no boundaries, something that can last forever, if we're together.

I slipped into the room, letting the silence swallow me, her deleted message still haunting my thoughts. 'I don't know what I am without you' did she mean that? Does she still ache, the way it ruins me does it ruin her as well?

The door clocked shut behind me muting the sound of celebration, of ambition, of a life I once wanted. The room was dim, city lights painted the streaks of the celing like restless ghosts. I loosened my tie, breath catching in my throat like a held scream.

I sat on the edge of the bed…..elbows on knees. Silence pressing in too close. My phone lit up—Just the screen no messages. I pressed the phone to my forehead. Warm. Empty. Relentless.

A soft knock on the door. Barely audible. As if the person on the other side was hesitating to enter.

My assistant? Room service? It didn't matter. I don't wanna meet anyone at all. Then a flicker of hope. Hope that maybe it was her....but I knew too much to belive that it was actually her.

Another knock—-then another and another

Annoyed I went to open the door. My fingers gripped the handle. Brethed. Swallowed. And finally opened it.

And there she was.

Jay.

Wearing the same look on the night she disappeared—Strong, brave and yet she was broken.

That's when I noticed what she was wearing—the gown. My mother's gown. Now her's, highlighting every curve, diamonds shimmers on her neck. A ring on her finger. Our ring. Hope. Joy. Anger. All emotiona mixed to form the love I have for her.

"Everyone's waiting for you" a voice so soft, os this really her?

I stepped back, wordless, letting her in. Though she never left…
