"Garp!!"
With a thunderous roar, the towering figure of Don Chinjao shot to his feet. A violent gale burst outward in all directions, infused with the pressure of his Conqueror's Haki. The blast sent Lao G flying helplessly through the air.
"Where is that bastard?!"
Chinjao's bloodshot eyes locked onto the tumbling Lao G, his voice brimming with fury.
"N-No, not Garp himself! Someone mentioned Garp!"
Groaning, Lao G staggered to his feet, his voice lowered in caution at the sight of Chinjao's wrath.
In the next instant, Chinjao's massive bulk vanished. With speed that betrayed his size, he reappeared before Lao G, seized him by the collar, and with a thunderous stomp on the icy ground, launched them both skyward.
Just hearing the name "Garp" was enough to set Chinjao ablaze with rage.
Dangling upside-down, Lao G bounced painfully in Chinjao's iron grip, his stomach twisting until he nearly vomited his last meal.
Suppressing his nausea, Lao G raised a trembling finger and pointed out the direction.
"They're here."
Don rose to his feet, his eyes narrowing toward the incoming storm of killing intent. Even without Observation Haki, the violent aura was suffocating—like a beast charging toward them.
"This old man's that angry?"
At Don's words, Robin also stood, her gaze drawn to his broad back.
"Be careful," she warned.
"Relax," Don replied calmly. "This old man can't beat me. Not yet."
For Don, this fight wasn't just about victory. His plan was to face Chinjao in his normal state, test the extent of his Conqueror's Haki, and perhaps glean insight into its advanced applications.
From what he knew, Chinjao didn't yet wield Conqueror's infusion techniques—but with decades of mastery, his control was still formidable.
And for Don, the fastest way to grow was by clashing with someone who carried that same kingly will.
Hadn't Straw Hat Luffy learned advanced Conqueror's Haki mid-battle against Kaido-sensei?
It only proved the importance of a worthy teacher.
Of course, Don wasn't eager to "enroll" under Kaido anytime soon. In his current strength, Kaido would smash him in a straight fight. Even with his "Undying" ability active, breaking through Kaido's monstrous defense before the timer ran out would be… unlikely.
Shaking his head, Don pushed the thought aside. Too far ahead. Too premature. He hadn't even entered the Grand Line yet.
Resting his blade on his shoulder, Don strode into the street. Robin withdrew quietly into the shadows, ensuring she wouldn't distract him once the battle began.
BOOM!
From the heavens, Chinjao descended like a meteor. Over five meters tall, his bulk crashed into the city square, shockwaves erupting outward, tearing the cobblestones from the earth.
His entire body radiated a suffocating aura, bloodshot eyes fixed squarely on Don.
Yet the moment their gazes locked, Chinjao faltered. His killing intent receded slightly, confusion flickering across his scarred face.
He scratched his misshapen head and tossed Lao G aside with a bewildered grunt.
Thud!
Don kicked Boo toward the fallen Lao G, Boo groaned in pain as Lao G caught him.
Still alive. Good enough.
"You're the intruder in Kano Country?"
Chinjao extended his Observation Haki, scanning the scene. His frown deepened as his gaze returned to Don.
At least he was talking.
Don sized him up in turn, his eyes flicking toward Lao G and Boo.
Over five meters tall… and yet his grandsons barely topped two. Strange genetics.
Chinjao lowered his glare onto the battered Lao G and the groggy Boo.
"You two useless brats! I told you to train harder, and now you've let some brat beat you to the ground?!"
His tone dripped with fury.
The two looked away, faces red with shame. They had no excuse. It was the truth.
"You brat! I don't care where you came from, but now"
"Garp."
Don interrupted with a single word.
The name hit Chinjao like a hammer. His fleeting calm shattered, his face twisting with hatred, the blood in his eyes surging anew.
"Die!!"
His hulking frame blurred forward, fist cocked back and wrapped in Armament Haki, slamming down toward Don.
A fifteen-year-old versus a seventy-year-old titan.
BOOM!
Don slipped aside and countered with a devastating kick to Chinjao's gut. The blow landed full force.
The colossal pirate was launched skyward, spinning helplessly through the air.
Lao G and Boo's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
Glancing back at Robin, Don bent his knees and leapt high, pursuing his opponent into the sky.
Robin cast one last glance at the two fallen men before vanishing into a side alley. If she couldn't help, she would at least avoid becoming a burden.
The kick snapped Chinjao's rage into clarity.
Even through his hatred of Garp, his seasoned instincts recognized the boy's strength instantly. This wasn't an ordinary brat.
And just as that thought crossed his mind—Don was already there, descending from above.
"Hmph!"
Chinjao twisted midair, his massive fist sheathed in Armament Haki. It collided with Don's Haki-clad heel.
CRACK!
The impact hurled Chinjao downward, his bulk smashing into the outskirts of the city.
This was Kano Country's port capital—home base of the Eight Treasure Navy.
The ground quaked violently as Chinjao slammed into it, carving a crater. Shockwaves rippled outward.
Don landed lightly, meeting Chinjao's glare as the old pirate pulled himself from the pit.
For all the spectacle, Chinjao stood unharmed.
A pirate with a 500 million bounty, standing strong even in his twilight years.
Chinjao's eyes narrowed, nostrils flaring as steam puffed out.
"What's your connection to that bastard, Garp?"
"Not close," Don replied evenly. "We've crossed paths, that's all."
"Then he didn't send you here?"
Chinjao's fists tightened, Armament coating his knuckles.
"No," Don said with a shake of his head.
"Then why?!"
Chinjao's roar carried confusion as much as rage. This boy's power was rare in the Four Seas.
"Your reputation precedes you," Don said coolly. "Defeat you, and my name will echo through the West Blue."
Chinjao froze, then his face contorted with rage.
"You… you dare treat me as a stepping stone?!"
The twelfth leader of the Eight Treasure Navy—reduced to a proving ground for a boy's ambitions?
BOOM!
Chinjao launched himself again, fists wrapped in hardened Haki. His punch tore through the earth as Don dodged, ripples of force radiating outward.
The Hasshoken—unleashed in full.
This battle was only just beginning.
