Chapter 3 - A sudden and unexpected visit....

As I shrugged off all my thoughts and decided to leave, I bumped into someone and looked up, only to be shocked shocked. "Veer Mehra?" I threw my arms around him, hardly believing he was here. Maybe I almost cried, but I was more happy to see him. "So you did miss me, right?" he said, caressing my hair. He wrapped his arms around me, almost caging me, as I laughed at his gesture. "Sudden arrival without informing very bad," I said as I broke the hug. "When did you decide to come back from Paris?"

He took my bag from me and held my hand, walking me to his car as he answered, "My work was done, and my company did well, and my hard work paid off, so I decided to come back and eat your non-existent brain." I wanted to kick him so badly, but I wanted to be nicer because – god – he arrived after 4 years, a long period, and decided to give me a great surprise, at my workplace. Can't kick him right now, but later for sure, 2 kicks for him.

We spent the entire ride talking about his experiences there. "Oh god, look who's here," my mom said, squeezing him in her arms; he too missed her a lot, I must admit, because of the way he hugged her back. Oh, my poor heart; I love their bonding.

The next few days were filled with only laughter, thanks to my dearest best friend. Despite being the rudest person to others, for me he's just my stupid best friend, and I love this fact the most. "What's your plan now?" I asked as we chewed on our favorite cupcakes, the chocolate chip ones we liked. "Nothing; I'll most probably work from India and sometimes have work visits to other places, Darla," he said. I cringed at the nickname; he called me nicknames when he wanted to tease me. I slapped his arm, only to hurt my hands because there's no way he got hurt. His lips turned into a small, faint smile.

We continued the rest of the day watching movies, as tomorrow I needed to go back to my projects. I sighed.

Today was something different because Vyom Shekhar and I were out for lunch, all thanks to our chief minister for inviting us – but he canceled the plans at the last moment because something important came up. I looked at him as he observed the menu; it was his decision to eat here because he wanted to discuss some important things, and he was hungry too. "So what do you want to eat?" he asked. I paused for a moment because the hardest thing for me was deciding what to eat; I always wanted to try everything, no matter if it was just a bite. I was confused but decided to go with pizza because a pizza can never go wrong.

As I watched him order something healthy that also included salad, I looked away. "Are you judging me?" he broke the silence, staring at me for some time because he probably noticed the way I looked away when he ordered the green veggies. I laughed hesitantly before answering, "Absolutely not; it's good to eat greens and vegetables – good for health." Hell for taste. "I see; want to try some?" he offered, looking at my nervous expression. "No, I love my pizza," I answered, only to earn a chuckle.

And maybe the lunch wasn't too bad at all; maybe the day wasn't bad at all, and maybe the month wasn't bad. Okay, too much.

After lunch, we decided to stroll around the place. I have always loved Jaipur; it healed a part of me that I never knew was hurt. My eyes were glued to the market – I wanted to wander and buy things. I looked down, knowing I was with Vyom, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to waste his time. "Do you want?" he asked, looking at me because he'd noticed the way I was gazing at the market in front of us. I nodded, and he understood.

As we roamed around, I bought several things. I stopped when my eyes landed on an ice cream shop. "Perhaps you'd like to get one?" I asked him, but deep down I didn't care if he didn't want one – I wanted it anyway. He simply hummed, and I immediately ran towards the shop, leaving him behind. God, now he'll probably think I'm childish.

I bought chocolate for myself and vanilla for him. "Why did you decide I don't love chocolate ice cream?" he raised an eyebrow. "Maybe you don't seem the kind of person who'd like chocolate anyway," I laughed, because I was definitely being sarcastic.

My heart skipped a beat when his thumb wiped off the ice cream from my lips, and he licked it. "I think it's my favorite," he said with a slight smirk. "Oh," a whisper escaped my mouth – barely audible even to me.

Vyom's gaze lingered on me, making my cheeks flush red, my breath quickening as I recalled what had just happened. "Let's go then?" he asked. I nodded slightly, feeling a flutter in my chest.
