"Welcome to my humble home, Mr Eddie." Jonathan gestured as he opened the door for his guest, Mr Eddie.
Mr Eddie walked into the house like this wasn't his first time, but he had been visiting the place subsequently.
Clyde slipped in as well before the door was closed shut.
"It's a pleasure to see you again, Mr Jonathan. I have been waiting to visit again so I could have a cup of your delicious jasmine tea." Mr Eddie praised, taking a seat on one of the empty couches.
"Please don't flatter me with your words Eddie, my tea is nothing but average." He responded with a smile.
"Then I am nothing but an average man if you say so," Mr Eddie added.
'Hmm, how good must his jasmine tea be for Eddie to praise him to the point of belittling himself,' Clyde thought as he stood quietly by the corners.
He took a brief glance at Mr Eddie, taking notes of his features. It has always been a habit of Clyde's to pay close attention to details even when it wasn't necessary because he was fond of it.
'You never know when those details might come in handy, so it's best to keep your eyes open and your mind smart at all times,'
Mr Eddie had sharp features that made him different from the ordinary lecturers he had met, a jawline that curved down to his chin, giving his face that noble look. He wore circular glasses that rested on his pointed yet round nose.
His beard was cleanly cut, accentuating his jawline and his pink colored lips.
He had a normal body building, nothing out of the ordinary. With body hair all over him, he was rich in whatever made body hairs to grow fast and a lot.
Mr Eddie noticed Clyde standing by the corner without any formal introduction yet, he decided to ask himself.
"Hmm, hmm. I am just noticing that I haven't seen him here before, an employed helper by chance?" He asked out of curiosity.
Clyde released a nervous smile, being called a helper despite his looks was what he was not expecting, but it wasn't an insult either because it was Mr Eddie's first time meeting him.
And he has been helping Mr. Jonathan for a while now, so he might as well be called one, but his looks should have made him think of anything else other than a house maid or helper.
"Him?, no, he's not," Jonathan chuckled, taking a seat on the couch opposite Eddie.
"He's a friend. He's new to the city too, so i told him he could stay at my place for the time being until he finds a better place to stay," Jonathan explained.
Eddie nodded, staring at Clyde a bit more than necessary.
"I see, and you're certainly hes trustworthy enough?" He asked openly, not minding that Clyde was standing in the room with them.
"Hm, yes, I am. He has proven himself by chasing off a Mireling," Jonathan said, trying to make Clyde look better in Eddie's eyes.
'Wait! I did no such thing. Don't over exaggerate it so much so he doesn't see me as a pro!' He shouted inwardly.
"Don't say it that way, sir Jonathan. I simply used the items I was given to keep it away, I didn't chase it off," he interrupted before Jonathan made things worse.
'How did he even know I kept the Mireling away, wait... a Mireling is that frog like creature?!' He yelled inwardly, almost shouting it out.
He glanced at Jonathan, who said he didn't know what a Mireling was earlier.
'Did he lie to me or something? How come he now knows what a Mireling is?'
"You chased off a Mireling on your own? What level is your soul core?" Eddie asked with a curious face.
*a nervous smile*
"Haha, I just awakened it a week ago, so im barely away from awakened," he lied, trying to cover things up.
Eddie kept staring at him for a while longer before he looked away with a disappointed expression.
"I thought you did so without a soul core, would have really grabbed my attention." Eddie sighed, pushing his glasses back into place.
'And I actually did so. Here, i thought he might get suspicious if i told him I did without a soul core'
"Yes, now I remember something. Clyde here wanted to ask a few questions regarding soul cores and a Mireling, I will be getting your jasmine tea while you both discuss." Jonathan said as he stood up from his seat.
"Wait, sir Jonathan, what about your son? Didn't you want to know if he was fairing well?" Clyde reminded.
"Eddie is staying till evening so we can discuss that anytime. Besides, I want to have a private discussion with him about it." He explained, turning around and moving toward the kitchen.
'A private discussion? Guess he doesn't want me knowing anything about his son,'
Now, the room was only occupied by Clyde and Mr Eddie, who looked extremely bored now that Jonathan had left the room.
"Well, what questions do you have in mind, or do you plan to stay there for the rest of the time we've been given?" Eddie said with a bored sigh at the end.
"Sorry," he hurried and took a seat with his arms folded together.
"Well, i already have a vague knowledge of it all, so I didn't see it extremely necessary, but I do have specific questions I'd like to ask." He started off.
"And what are they exactly? If they're within my exposition, I will answer them. Otherwise, don't expect an answer from me."
Eddie drew the border on the kind of questions Clyde would ask and whether they'll be answered or not.
Clyde sighed heavily before he started with his first question.
"I want to know if it's possible to awaken ones soul core by binding himself with a beast, or if it's out of the ordinary," he squeezed his hands together.
Eddie turned to Clyde, his bored expression fading away at the sound of Clyde's question.
"That question..." Eddie squinted his eyes at Clyde.
