Chapter 45: Leaving in Three Days, Forging the One-Word Battle Armor, Named "Light"
In the midst of sleep, Ye Ling vaguely felt something poking his face.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Cai'er's little face just inches away, leaning over him and occasionally prodding his cheek with her small fingers, seemingly deep in thought.
"What is it, Cai'er?" Ye Ling asked with no trace of grogginess, only curiosity.
Startled by his sudden awakening, Cai'er's face flushed. Realizing her position, she quickly got up and said, "Uncle Long came by just now. He told me to let you know when you woke up to go find him."
"Alright." Ye Ling sat up and checked the time—he'd slept for about twelve hours. All of his fatigue had vanished.
It was time to get moving.
As soon as he stepped outside, he spotted Long Xingyu standing nearby. Seeing Ye Ling emerge, Long Xingyu approached.
"It's about time. Haochen should be awakening his internal spiritual power soon. I plan to take him to the Hao Yue sub-temple in three days for testing. Want to come with us?" he asked.
"In three days? No problem. I'll bring Cai'er and Haochen along," Ye Ling replied with a nod.
Long Xingyu gave a nod of acknowledgment and left. His message delivered, he went off to handle his own affairs.
"Since I've had enough rest, I can begin forging the battle armor now. It's a bit troublesome, but three days is enough to finish the armor for the Six-Winged Angel."
"Although my Time-Space Dragon martial soul and Golden Dragon King bloodline can't share equipment, it might be possible in the future. Given the current circumstances, there's hope that each martial soul and bloodline could have their own set of battle armor."
Ye Ling murmured.
He then returned to his forging platform, preparing to officially begin crafting his battle armor.
Battle armor typically consisted of eleven components: headband, chestplate, left shoulder + upper arm, right shoulder + upper arm, left gauntlet + forearm, right gauntlet + forearm, waistguard + battle skirt, left thigh, right thigh, left greave + boot, and right greave + boot.
That was the One-Word Battle Armor. At the Two-Word level, it added left and right wings—perfect for Ye Ling, who could sprout wings using his Six-Winged Angel martial soul.
Of course, that was a matter for later.
By his own estimation, he wouldn't touch Two-Word Armor until he reached at least mid-fifth rank. For now, it wasn't a priority.
With that in mind, Ye Ling turned his attention to the Thousand-Refined Jade Silver on his forging platform. He closed his eyes and connected with his Six-Winged Angel martial soul, searching for the most optimal form for his battle armor.
No need for a mecha designer—his martial soul would show him everything.
Soon, Ye Ling opened his eyes. Without hesitation, he raised his Spirit-Refined Deep Silver Hammer. Light energy from his martial soul surged into the hammer. With a powerful shout, his aura exploded as he brought the hammer crashing down onto the Jade Silver.
The shaping process had begun.
The first piece Ye Ling chose to craft was the chestplate—the largest and most complex component of the armor.
He used three full pieces of Thousand-Refined Jade Silver, merging and shaping them. After nearly three hours of effort, the forging was complete.
"The chestplate is done. Everything else should be simpler from here."
Ye Ling looked at the completed chestplate in front of him without saying much, then immediately moved on to the next part.
The chestplate was the most intricate component. With it complete, the remaining pieces should go much faster.
An hour per piece shouldn't be a problem.
Even the more complex parts wouldn't take more than two hours at most.
And so, Ye Ling began forging the next component.
"Brother Ye Ling, what are you doing now?" Cai'er asked, slightly confused as she watched. She knew Ye Ling was forging something, but the details were beyond her comprehension. So she turned to Long Haochen, waiting for him to explain.
At that moment, Long Haochen's gaze remained locked on Ye Ling's forging silhouette, his eyes sparkling with awe. He stared with excitement and admiration, wishing he could memorize every single detail of Ye Ling's technique and reproduce them perfectly one day.
"Brother Ye is forging his own battle armor... and using metal of this level... and so much of it... Tsk. With all this, could this armor surpass the spirit-magic tier and reach radiant grade?" Long Haochen murmured.
He didn't respond to Cai'er—he didn't even hear her question. All he saw was Ye Ling, hammer in hand, forging, radiant and majestic. That was the only figure in his mind. He admired him, revered him, and desperately wished to stand in his place.
What a relentless overachiever.
"Brother Ye Ling's forging skills... have they broken through again?" Cai'er heard Haochen's mumbling and could only feel her heart swell. Ye Ling was powerful—truly powerful. As expected of her Brother Ye Ling—strong and awe-inspiring!
Not just strong—handsome, too!
Handsome from head to toe.
At that moment, Cai'er quieted down, simply watching Ye Ling's meticulous forging in silence. In his movements, she could see the beauty of power and precision.
And when she grew tired of watching, she would draw her Death God Sword to practice, sometimes entering the Reincarnation Trials through the Reincarnation Spirit Furnace to continue her training.
Occasionally, Long Haochen would challenge her—but with his current strength, how could he possibly compete?
After a few attempts, he was instantly defeated within a single round—no suspense whatsoever.
He might have talent, but his practical growth was still too limited.
Soon, a full day passed.
All the components of the battle armor had been forged by Ye Ling.
Exquisitely crafted, flawless—by even the standards of Douluo Dalu 3, this would be considered a top-tier One-Word Battle Armor. Try finding a flaw? There simply wasn't one.
"This should be enough. Now I can move on to the next step—using spiritual power to nurture it and bind it to myself, skipping the inscription process entirely and allowing it to fully integrate with my body," Ye Ling thought to himself.
Then, a brilliant light burst from his Six-Winged Angel martial soul, its aura surging outward. All eleven pieces of the battle armor were instantly drawn into his martial soul, radiating with layers of divine brilliance.
Through his internal view, Ye Ling could see the armor attached to his Six-Winged Angel soul, gradually being nurtured. Faint inscriptions emerged within, and in that moment, Ye Ling could sense it clearly—his One-Word Battle Armor was now completely bonded to him.
And with a single thought, it could manifest on his body.
"The battle armor I've long dreamed of... it's finally complete."
"It should have a name. A One-Word Battle Armor—just one character. Then let it be named according to its nature."
"This One-Word Battle Armor... shall be named Light!"
