Chapter 58 - CHAPTER 58

Claiming the Yacht

"It's okay. Just be more careful in your next life."

Xu Mo's words landed coldly.

Alyssa's face fell in disappointment, but he ignored her and turned to Harry at the wheel.

"Where are you taking us?"

From the route, it was obvious Harry already had a destination in mind. With nightfall less than an hour away, Xu Mo also intended to secure a safe resting place — and begin preparing the auxiliary formations for his greater ritual.

"To the beach!" Harry answered, tapping at the car's built-in screen. He pointed to a location marked on the map.

"According to the reports, the safest place right now is offshore. My yacht's docked here. Once we're aboard, we'll be safe."

Xu Mo nodded slightly. So he's a rich second-generation.

It was only a ten-minute drive. A large supermarket sat along the way, the perfect chance to resupply.

Harry steered toward it without being told. Clearly, he'd had the same idea.

The supermarket was chaos. Shelves overturned, crowds looting anything not nailed down. People rushed out with carts piled high.

"Stay in the car," Xu Mo instructed Alyssa, then followed Harry inside.

Despite the disorder, plenty of supplies remained. They quickly filled two carts. But as they pushed them outside, Harry's face stiffened.

"Something's wrong."

A man with a gun had approached their truck, pointing it at the window.

He pulled the trigger—only for the weapon to explode in his hand. Fingers flew, and the man collapsed, screaming. Xu Mo had disabled the weapon with a thought.

Two others ran forward to seize the truck. Xu Mo kicked one aside while Harry emptied both their carts — plus the wounded man's — into the pickup's spacious trunk. Three carts' worth of food, secured.

The bleeding man tried to rise. Harry drew his pistol, hesitated only a second, then fired. His breathing hitched, his hands trembled. His first kill — but he steadied himself quickly.

Back in the car, Alyssa leaned forward, eyes bright.

"Was that you just now? With the gun?"

When Xu Mo nodded, her admiration only deepened.

"It's amazing."

They soon reached the yacht harbor. Harry led them to a gleaming white vessel — his yacht.

But it wasn't empty. Another car was parked nearby, and figures moved inside the cabin.

Xu Mo frowned.

"Looks like someone beat us here."

Harry smirked.

"Doesn't matter. This yacht has a top-grade anti-theft system. Without my key, it's going nowhere."

He pulled another pistol from the glove box and handed it over.

"Magic's great, but you might still need this."

Xu Mo accepted without protest.

The three approached the yacht. A man leaned out from the deck, flanked by gun barrels poking from the windows.

"This is our territory. Leave."

Harry shouted back.

"I'm the owner! You thieves, get off my yacht!"

The men inside jeered.

"Prove it."

Harry pressed a button on his key. With a mechanical hiss, the glass panels on the deck retracted, revealing the interior.

The intruders' eyes widened. Then they ducked back inside.

A moment later, gunfire erupted.

Bullets tore through the air—then froze midflight.

Xu Mo sighed, his right hand lifting lazily.

"I told you before: show no mercy to people like this."

All their weapons ripped free, flying into his grasp.

"Come out," he ordered coldly.

The five men emerged trembling, their hands raised high.

"Off the boat," Xu Mo commanded.

Relief washed over them. They thought they were being spared. Foolishly, they even looked down on Xu Mo's mercy.

Alyssa hurried to his side, whispering urgently.

"We can't let them go. They tried to kill us!"

The lead man heard, panic flaring.

"No! You don't understand! The window— it just slid down— the gun went off by accident!"

Xu Mo's lips curved into a smile.

"It's okay. Just be more careful in your next life."

The crack of gunfire shattered the night.

Xu Mo emptied the rifle in seconds. Fifty rounds tore through flesh, shredding the men into lifeless husks.

He hadn't spared them. He'd only lured them off the yacht — to avoid staining his new shelter with their blood.

After all, he would be sleeping there tonight. And the stench of death on deck was not something he cared to tolerate.
