Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

Looking at his findings, Renji was able to come to a conclusion.

At exactly 1:22 P.M. Kuroda Katusuro, also known as Rupture, was spotted in downtown Musutafu near the commercial district carrying multiple sharp weaponry such as knives and other sharp materials, including broken glass.

Police were alerted immediately as the hero who spotted him contacted his agency.

Ensuring that Kuroda wouldn't get away, said hero followed him around the block. However, Kuroda noticed the hero almost instantaneously and bolted inside a nearby shop.

Reports say that what ensued could only be described as a blood bath.

Upon entering the store, the hero was ambushed by Rupture. Kuroda had sliced one of his arms using a knife he carried, leading to the activation of his quirk, Bloodburst.

Following the cut, Kuroda's blood sprayed from his body like acid, coating the hero's head in it.

Unfortunately for the hero, Kuroda's quirk had more to do than just exploding blood. Eyewitness reports say that the hero's face seemed to melt off in a horrific display of power.

Now came the part that Renji was most concerned about.

Before backup could arrive on scene, Rupture was reported to have killed multiple civilians within the shop he was hiding away in with many more injured.

The few that were able to get away survived with just a few acid burns from his quirk. However, those that were still inside died a gruesome death.

With a predicted time of 1:32 P.M., Ryuga Yamamoto was murdered by Kuroda Katusuro, also known as Rupture.

—Ground Beta—

Back in Ground Beta, Renji's fists clenched tightly as his knuckles turned a glaring white.

His eyes stared blankly at the screens ahead, thoughts roiling through his mind like flashes of lightning.

Glancing over, Mina noticed the strange look on his face. Sipping past the other students, she silently approached Renji from behind with a mischievous smile.

She reached up to tap his shoulder, hoping to surprise him and figure out what was up with his expression.

"Boo—!" She started before Renji rapidly twisted around and gripped her wrist tightly.

His eyes spoke of a nightmare no one would wish upon their enemy as Mina stared back, a shiver running down her spine.

"Ow-ow-ow!" She yelped, realizing just how tight his grip was. It felt crushing, almost as if he was imagining it was her neck he was about to snap off.

"Young Renji!" All Might shouted as he noticed what was going on. He had been so preoccupied with guiding Midoriya's and Bakugo's team that he had lost sight of what was going on in the surveillance room.

The others turned to look over at Renji, who was still holding onto Mina's wrist with a killer gaze.

Her hand became paler as the blood's circulation was cut off, eyes widening in fear at the thought of losing it.

All Might rushed over in a panic, zooming toward the pair in standard hero fashion.

Just as he was a step away from the pair, ready to use force if necessary, Renji casually let go of Mina's wrist.

Mina quickly pulled away and looked down at her hand, shaking it to get the blood flowing again.

Looking up, her eyes trembled, adrenaline spiking through her body as she stared and found a killer in the place of a classmate.

"Young Renji!" All Might reprimanded, grabbing his shoulders to confront him. "What were you thinking? Young Ashido could have been seriously hurt!"

Renji said nothing, his mind creating scenarios of the future, multiple plans needing action.

Finally, he spoke up as the class looked intently at him, wondering what was going on.

"Let me go, All Might." Renji replied, staring right back at him. "It won't happen again."

He then tilted around All Might's massive frame to look at Mina, flashing her a warm smile. "I'm sorry, Mina. I got a little distracted."

But Mina didn't say anything to the apology, instead shifting her gaze to the smile on Renji's face.

To the rest of the class, that smile seemed utterly normal. It was a warm, apologetic smile which showed Renji's accountability.

However, with what had just happened, all Mina saw was a bone-chilling smile that hinted at the monster underneath.

—HPSC Containment Sector—

Inside the observation room beside the cell, a few agents sat calmly, reviewing the reports and keeping an eye on Rupture.

The room he was in was bare and was surrounded by multiple guards. The walls of the room were white and padded, almost like the ones you'd see at a mental asylum.

Sitting down at the end of the room was Rupture. He had been apprehended accordingly with all of his weapons safely stored as evidence. As for Kuroda himself, his arms and legs were strapped to the table, and even his mouth was restrained so he could do nothing but breathe.

Even the slightest nick on his body would allow him to use his quirk, possibly melting through the bindings. All it would take was a bite of his lip or tongue to unleash havoc.

Through the one way glass, the agents looked at the man in disgust after reading up on him.

"What even causes someone to do this?" One of them asked, looking up from the papers.

The two agents kept their eyes fixed on the restrained villain, though their earlier disgust had dulled into something more like unease.

His partner nodded his head, gaze never leaving Rupture. "You don't get to melt people alive and blame it on the past. He's exactly where he belongs."

The door hissed open behind them. Both men turned sharply, standing to attention as a tall figure stepped into the observation room.

Director Takeda looked older than his true age. His hair, once black with streaks of grey, had dulled to a washed out silver, and deep lines carved into his face told stories of sleepless nights and decisions that weighed far too much.

"Report." His voice was gravelly, and both agents instinctively straightened.

"Sir, Rupture hasn't moved since he was brought in," one of them answered. "No resistance, no outbursts. He just sits there with his eyes closed, head down."

Takeda studied the figure beyond the one-way glass. The villain looked almost ordinary now. His wiry frame slouched, his messy hair falling over his face. If not for the restraints, one could have mistaken him for a man asleep.

"I see." Takeda exhaled slowly, the weight in his chest almost audible. "In a few hours, he will be transferred to Tartarus. But before that…"

He pressed his ear piece, sending instructions to the guards stationed outside. "Move him to the interrogation chamber. I don't care how deranged he is, we will get everything we need."

Takeda released the communications and turned to the agents. "Bring him in. I want him breathing when I ask my questions."

"Yes, sir."

The guards entered the containment room cautiously, their weapons trained on the restrained man as they approached. One of them knelt to check the bindings while the other kept a watchful eye.

A beat passed.

Then another.

The kneeling guard froze, his expression darkening. "Director… something's not right."

The second guard frowned. "What do you—"

"Vitals," the first interrupted, his voice tight. "He has no pulse. He's dead."

The room fell into stunned silence, broken only by the hum of the fluorescent lights.

Takeda's eyes widened. For a rare, fleeting moment, the old director looked caught off guard, his breath halting in his throat.

"…Dead?" he muttered. His fingers curled into fists at his sides. "No… no, damn it—he was supposed to talk!"

The agents exchanged uneasy glances. Takeda was never one to raise his voice. But now, the calm veneer was gone, replaced by a raw frustration that seemed to shake the air itself.

He slammed a hand against the console, rattling the glass. "We had him right here. Bound. Secured. And now he's nothing but a corpse!"

His glare locked onto Rupture's motionless frame. "Whoever did this just robbed us of a perfect lead."

Silence followed, heavy and suffocating.

Takeda finally drew in a sharp breath, forcing his tone back under control, though the fire in his eyes hadn't dimmed.

"…Move on to the next. We'll get our answers—somehow."

Yet as he turned away from the glass, his thoughts roiled like violent waves.

I'll find you soon, All For One.
