Chapter 51 - HISD Chapter 51 Mist

HISD Chapter 51 Mist

"Wife, what are you doing here?"

Yi Meng's words echoed slightly in the sealed basement.

Of course, this wife wasn't his literal wife.

In Yi Meng's previous life, a life spent entirely in entertainment, the so-called "otaku" culture often referred to game, anime, or film female characters as "wife." or "waifu".

Perhaps only virtual characters could reach a perfect standard in appearance, personality, and abilities.

Take, for example, the snow-white wizard robe magical doll placed on the isolated rack in the basement.

The wizard hat, the snowy robe, the tiny hands, the blue legs inscribed with mysterious runes—its noble and mystical aura seemed ready to scold someone for losing composure.

It looked exactly like Ranni, the demi-god witch from Elden Ring.

Ranni, the demi-god witch, had killed herself to break free from the world's fundamental rules and ultimately destroyed the creator god. A truly ruthless figure.

Yi Meng recalled that Elden Ring also featured a small Ranni doll connected to the witch's soul.

Could this be the real one?

He quickly checked the intrusion file:

Intrusion file: "Magic Doll"

Type: Construct

ID: SAS-999

Casualties: None

Level: G (lowest risk)

Report: Appeared spontaneously on a Tianhe City theater stage in 0199 of the Star Dragon Era. No unusual energy detected.

Checked by Dragon Maiden; no potential danger found.

…

The report indicated this wasn't the genuine article.

Disappointment flickered in Yi Meng's eyes. If it hadn't appeared in the real world, this doll wouldn't even be classified as an intrusion object.

Dragon Maiden's Phoenix power detected no spirit inside, further ruling out the real Ranni.

Yi Meng studied the lifelike doll. The genuine Ranni doll had her left eye open, but this one's eyes were closed.

He touched the closed left eye; it felt cold and smooth, sealed shut, impossible to pry open.

Clearly, it was a high-quality replica from another world.

Even if it were genuine, it would have lost all connection to the witch's soul during the interdimensional intrusion.

Meaningless.

Yi Meng shook his head and pocketed the doll, refusing to leave empty-handed.

Besides, the only gain in this world was this previous-life "wife" figure. He turned toward the basement exit.

…

Chaos reigned inside and outside the Supernatural Department.

The thick, strange white fog spread everywhere. City and external communications were cut off. The captain leading the investigation was missing, and the high schooler containment subject had escaped.

Events piled on so quickly the agents could barely react.

Moreover, the remaining agents noticed—

There were actually moving creatures in the fog! Unknown beings not of their world!

…

Boom! Boom!

Unknown flying creatures crashed through windows. Resembling small pterodactyls, their black beastly eyes darted around, claws and wings slashing through the air, hunting inside!

Hidden in the fog, they moved as shadows.

With agents shouting warnings, gunfire erupted.

Rat-a-tat-tat!

Inside the department, fierce gunfire rang out.

Muzzle flashes lit the fog-filled rooms as armed agents clashed with the flying creatures. Some creatures were riddled with bullets, crashing to the ground.

Other agents were sprayed with black, viscous acid-like fluid. Protective suits corroded, screaming in agony, only to be torn apart by sharp claws in the next moment.

The fog-borne creatures seemed endless, masters of hunting within the mist.

Even well-armed agents fell one by one, surrounded and treated as prey.

"Run! Yingzi!" shouted a fallen agent.

The young female agent, Yingzi, had run out of bullets. Three bloodied creatures flew toward her. Pale, she turned and fled down the stairs, furniture and lamps crashing behind her.

Huffing and gasping, her gas mask visor fogged, the once-familiar department now alien, causing her to stumble blindly.

She eventually reached a long, smooth hallway on the basement level.

Only then did Yingzi realize she had reached the first basement. Except for the captain, no one had clearance here.

She wanted to turn back but saw the three creatures descending the stairs, forcing her to continue forward.

Wait, the basement door… how is it open?

Through the fog, she glimpsed the doorway, ajar.

She gritted her teeth and ran.

At that moment, a tall figure emerged from the doorway.

A boy.

Quickly reacting, he sidestepped, causing Yingzi to collide harmlessly with the basement interior.

Without hesitation, the boy continued down the corridor leading outside.

"Watch out! Monsters—"

Yingzi's words died on her lips as her pupils froze.

The silver-haired boy faced the three flying creatures head-on. His skeletal gray-white hands shot out like lightning, gripping one creature each while smashing the third with a powerful blow.

Boom!

No screams.

Blood exploded between his palms. Three creatures were flattened, the corridor fog stained crimson.

Afterward, the silver-haired boy tossed the limp bodies aside, shaking his hands to fling off the blood, black venom, and slime.

"You… you are…!"

Yingzi stared in shock at the familiar high school boy in the corridor.

The silver-haired boy looked back. Through the dense fog, one eye flashed a violent, destructive red, then was covered by calm silver light.

He said nothing and continued down the corridor.

Only after he disappeared into the fog-filled hallway did Yingzi murmur in realization: "It's him."

The containment intruder, high schooler Yi Meng.
