Chapter 55 - HISD Chapter 55 Reunion, A Promise

HISD Chapter 55 Reunion, A Promise

In the doomsday city shrouded in eerie fog, the two of them embraced—one large, one small.

The smaller, a girl in the bloom of youth, had long, straight black hair cascading to her waist. Despite her urgent escape attire—jacket vest and tight leather pants—her slender curves were still evident. She wore gloves and leather boots, her exposed skin radiant and flawless in the mist.

Even in this situation, she retained her nobility and beauty.

Based solely on appearance, she could easily have celebrity-level fans online and boost Dream Century Tech's stock. But Chen Hong knew well that Miss Dream Tifa was no mere face; beneath her beauty lay talent, character, vision, and unmatched presence.

She was a truly perfect beauty, and in a couple of years, when her youth fully matured, the world would marvel at her.

The slightly larger boy she embraced, however, was terrifying.

His originally lean frame, now encased in exoskeleton, looked taller and more muscular. Tendons and muscles flowed like a machine, bone spikes tore through his clothes.

His handsome young face, partially covered by a small bone-like mask on the right side, revealed an ever-burning red flame in his eye, exuding an aura of killing and destruction.

On the ground behind the silver-haired, spiked boy was a cracked, sunken crater, evidence of his recent descent from above, breaking the concrete road beneath him.

Forget the fog spiders—Chen Hong felt a chill run through her body, wishing she could pull Miss Tifa away. This was no fairy tale of beauty and the beast; it was a beautiful girl and a monster.

What had happened to Yi Meng in just one day? Chen Hong could not understand.

…

Within the white fog.

"You…"

Tifa noticed the abnormality in Yi Meng's body, yet her left hand remained tightly around his neck. Her gaze fell on the deformed exoskeleton on his chest, and her right hand naturally touched the armored surface.

Her ruby-like eyes held tears of joy, her soft lips parted slightly. Not afraid, she looked curious and playful, her slender finger poking the armor.

Her finger pressed against iron—no, something far harder than iron.

"So hard…!" Tifa exclaimed in surprise, her lively, playful charm still intact.

Yi Meng, exhausted in body and mind, felt a strange relief, almost laughing. He knew Tifa was worried about his appearance, so she was trying to show she wasn't afraid.

"You're not scared?" Yi Meng asked calmly.

"You mean the spiders? They were terrifying, huge!" Tifa blinked.

"I mean me," Yi Meng's gaze met hers, pointing to himself.

"You're Yi Meng, right? Why fear you? You saved me. Without you, the spiders would have eaten me to bones."

Tifa stuck out her tongue, then realized and punched the exoskeleton, producing a clang. "Damn it! You're not planning to ditch me, are you, scumbag?"

"Three years, taking all of my firsts and leaving? That won't do. I'm very persistent!"

With that, she jumped forward, wrapping her legs around his body like a large doll clinging tightly.

Chen Hong's heart skipped a beat, fearing one of Yi Meng's spikes would pierce Miss Tifa's legs.

Then…

Chen Hong's eyes widened in horror.

While Yi Meng and Tifa reunited and conversed, a mountain-sized shadow emerged from the fog, crawling rapidly toward them.

Massive tentacles with huge suction cups reached out first.

"Mi-Miss!" Chen Hong called, trembling.

Tifa, clinging to Yi Meng, noticed too, opening her eyes wide. "Yi Meng, behind you…"

"I know. Close your eyes." Yi Meng said.

"Okay."

As death approached, Tifa obeyed, her long lashes trembling—an act of unimaginable trust in Yi Meng.

Rustle!

The giant tentacles circled to strike. Chen Hong's face fell in despair—these were monsters the army could only repel with shells.

At the critical moment,

Yi Meng carefully supported Tifa with his left hand, spun, and leapt forward. Even at his slowest pace, it was faster than the attacking tentacles.

Wind surged, the fog swirled, revealing the massive form of the tentacle beast.

Yi Meng's right fist swung forward. The gray-white exoskeleton glove left afterimages, the air exploded in layers, and his punch penetrated the monstrous body with unparalleled superhuman force.

Boom—

Chen Hong stared in shock as the meat mountain crumpled and exploded under his fist, the resulting shockwave clearing kilometers of fog from the city.

Such divine power, yet wielded by a boy transformed into a monster.

Even a god would have to retreat.

This was the power of Doomsday.

"What happened? Did it run away?"

Tifa still had her eyes closed, unaware of what occurred, feeling like she'd been on a roller coaster.

"Yeah, it's gone. You can open your eyes."

Yi Meng lowered his head, retracting his fist, the red flame in his eyes surging stronger.

"It's really gone."

Tifa opened her eyes and looked around—no sign of the tentacle beast.

Yet the road was littered with countless chunks of flesh, and the returning fog concealed the previous scene.

Chen Hong, the only witness, fell silent.

The monster had truly fled, returning to its own dimension, to hell.

"You're okay?"

Tifa worried about Yi Meng rather than the monster, noticing gray-white exoskeleton creeping over his face, like a mask about to cover half of it.

His face was now just the remaining exposed areas not yet covered by armor.
