HISD Chapter 66 I Am Not Vision
The neighbor, Agnes, had left.
Yi Meng glanced back at the closed door, his silver eyes flickering.
Earlier, the Mind Stone fragment had reacted. That woman was extremely dangerous, full of malice, though deeply hidden.
"Wanda, what was the neighbor discussing with you?"
Yi Meng asked calmly over his shoulder.
"About today… something important," Wanda replied, blinking in surprise. "Xiao Meng, why are you back so quickly? It's still daylight outside!"
"I work efficiently. Besides, didn't you ask me to come back early?" Yi Meng smiled.
"But this is too fast… I didn't even have time to…" Wanda murmured, trailing off, then whispered, "Close your eyes and silently count to three."
"No problem," Yi Meng replied, following the instructions.
Three… two… one…
When he opened his eyes, the sunlight outside had faded, and the room's main hall glowed with dozens of candles, no other lights on.
The romantic setup sent a shiver through Yi Meng—a sense of foreboding.
Footsteps approached cautiously. Two pale hands covered his eyes from behind, and a soft, sweet voice whispered in his ear: "Guess who I am."
"Wanda," Yi Meng replied.
"Correct!"
The woman behind him lowered her hands and embraced him. Yi Meng opened his eyes to see Wanda in a white, strapless, form-fitting dress.
Even in the dim candlelight, her skin appeared luminous, her curves strikingly beautiful.
So this was the neighbor's idea. A clever plan indeed…
Yi Meng twitched at the corner of his eye. This was the witch testing him after suspecting his fake identity.
Regardless, Yi Meng instinctively blocked the Sword Bureau's signals probing this location.
"Come, let's have something to eat."
Wanda held his hand and guided him to the dining table.
On the table sat a single chocolate-covered strawberry, two sets of cutlery.
Wait—why was the stove warming up?
Yi Meng forced himself to stay calm, ignoring the tempting witch, and sliced the strawberry, revealing its heart-shaped center.
As he did so, Wanda leaned on the table, her chin in her hands, eyes reflecting the silver-haired young man's image, her expression soft and joyful.
"Why are you staring at me?" Yi Meng asked, avoiding her intense gaze as he placed half the strawberry in his mouth.
"Xiao Meng, we're going to be together forever, you know?" Wanda said, looking straight at him.
Yi Meng, now fully in character, opened his mouth but could not speak.
Falsehood remained false. No matter how he acted, he could not make it real. Offering a fake sunlight to someone trapped in darkness was cruel.
He forced a change of topic. "Wanda, you can repair any furniture, right?"
"Of course. I'm a magical girl," Wanda replied with a small smile.
"What about… something like a gemstone?" Yi Meng asked, guiding.
"A gemstone? I haven't tried, but I think I could," she tilted her head.
"What about a yellow gemstone?"
The moment he spoke, the entire wooden house—no, the entire town—shuddered violently!
Yi Meng looked at Wanda. Her face was pale with panic, lips trembling: "No! It wasn't me! Xiao Meng, I didn't mean to do that!"
"Sorry, that was my mistake," Yi Meng said.
He realized he had overthought it. If Wanda could reconstruct the Mind Stone fully, then Vision could genuinely be reborn, not just a fake.
Bang!
The wooden house shook violently; the town quaked.
Wanda's emotions destabilized the Chaos-powered illusion, making it hard to maintain.
Seeing her shivering like a wounded animal, Yi Meng pulled her close: "Wanda, I'm here. It's okay now."
"I'll always stay with you!"
"Xiao Meng, Xiao Meng," Wanda murmured, clinging to him until she fell asleep.
Once she slept, the house and town quieted.
Outside, the night was calm, peaceful.
Yi Meng sighed quietly, carrying the tearful woman upstairs.
In the bedroom, he gently laid Wanda on the bed, covering her with a blanket, shielding her exposed shoulder.
He looked at her sleeping, weary, and sorrowful face.
"I'm sorry, Wanda," Yi Meng said calmly.
"I lied. I am not Vision, your resurrected love. I don't know why I became Vision here. If I find the answer, I will return to tell you.
But only if you don't hate and try to kill me."
He said no more and left the room.
As the door closed softly, two clear lights slid across Wanda's sleeping face in the night.
Yi Meng left the newly-settled wooden house, no longer pretending to be Vision. The moment he stepped outside, he soared into the air, heading beyond Westview!
From a nearby house, Agnes secretly watched from her window, smiling:
"I didn't expect him to awaken so fast. He didn't need any guidance from me."
…
A streak of light.
Yi Meng, in his reborn Vision body, streaked across the town's night sky, from the center to the border, until he struck the faint red energy dome surrounding Westview.
Buzz!
A burst of crimson energy resisted his exit.
Outside the town, Sword Bureau personnel at the temporary base monitoring Wanda and Westview rushed out, gazing at the sky in shock.
Bang, bang!
Crimson energy rippled violently. A young figure emerged from within, the vibranium-powered mechanical body pushing the dome aside.
Yi Meng surged forward, first his head, then the metallic torso, finally his powered legs.
The instant he fully escaped the town's energy field,
Crack!
Vision's vibranium body fractured, breaking into countless pieces that fell from the sky.
It looked like self-destruction.
But in truth, his consciousness escaped along the network signal into the outside world.
He was free!
AI Yi Meng rejoiced, like a dragon returning to the sea, striking across the Westview sky, reaching Sword Bureau's nearby orbital satellite, overlooking Earth in the Marvel universe.
Goodbye, Westview. Goodbye, Scarlet Witch.
Hopefully, never to meet again.
Yi Meng resolved silently: restoring the complete Mind Stone would be his next task…
