HISD Chapter 76: Consecutive Battles Against Villains
Mei stood frozen in the second-floor corridor, her mind blank.
Ahead of her—
Inside the shattered remains of the elevator car, a towering white mechanical figure floated silently. A silver-white cape fluttered behind its shoulders, and the chip embedded in its forehead ceased releasing its blazing laser beam.
From the tunnel below, the furious roars of the lizard-like monster had also gone quiet. A strange silence filled the ruined elevator shaft.
The white mechanical being turned its head, crimson light flickering in its electronic eyes as they settled on the little girl cradled in Baymax's arms just outside the elevator.
"I—I won't let you hurt her!"
Though terrified and fully aware of the overwhelming power before her, May forced herself to rise from the floor, standing protectively in front of Morgan.
Morgan squirmed desperately, as though frightened, trying to break free from Baymax's soft inflatable embrace. But the healthcare robot seemed frozen, malfunctioning, refusing to release her.
The white figure continued to stare at the girl, its cold, merciless eyes faintly flashing with something almost human, before finally tilting its gaze upward toward the sixteenth floor.
Its body gradually shifted from solid to intangible, as if it were nothing but a phantom construct. Passing effortlessly through the elevator's ceiling, it vanished from May and Morgan's sight.
Not long after, Baymax's arms loosened as well, losing their intelligent control.
"No!"
Morgan rushed toward the elevator, only to be stopped by May.
"Morgan, it's dangerous!" May cried, clutching the girl tightly.
But the usually obedient Morgan thrashed and struggled, tears brimming in her wide eyes as she sobbed, "You don't understand! He'd never hurt me—he's my…"
…
By altering the atomic density of his vibranium body, Yi Meng phased through walls, rushing toward the Stark Fabricator machine.
Through the second-floor surveillance feed, he caught sight of a familiar figure. Seeing the little girl's face projected in his mind, the corners of White Vision Yi Meng's mouth curled upward.
Morgan. She had grown in just a few days.
Not only had she gone to MIT, but she had even built Baymax—a medical robot he had once casually described to her.
At this rate, she would one day grow into a true superhero, even without him.
Yi Meng thought silently.
"Morgan, we'll meet again, but not now…"
His crimson eyes blazed as his intangible body shot upward to the sixteenth floor.
There—
Yi Meng saw Spider-Man locked in a fierce struggle with Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin, while Doctor Octopus wrestled with his own berserk tentacles.
What kind of battle was this?
To prevent these villains from harming Morgan, his Marvel dream anchor, Yi Meng chose not to intervene directly. Instead, with a mere thought, a crimson spark of static slipped into the chip embedded in Doc Ock's neck.
In an instant—
One of Doc Ock's tentacles abruptly shifted its trajectory, impaling Norman Osborn's back as he grappled with Spider-Man.
The Green Goblin had no defense prepared. With a wet crunch, blood splattered across Peter Parker's face.
"What—?"
The three combatants froze, all movements halting.
On the floor, Peter lay beneath Osborn, who had been choking the life out of him. But now, a tentacle jutted straight through Osborn's chest, blood dripping onto both him and Doc Ock.
"Otto, you—"
Norman stared down in disbelief, eyes wide with betrayal.
"It wasn't me! I swear, it wasn't me…" Doc Ock muttered, stunned, his eyes glassy behind his sunglasses.
Peter lay dazed beneath them, vision stained crimson, the stench of blood choking his lungs.
…
Yi Meng felt nothing. This was only a dream world, but even if it were reality, he wouldn't hesitate to send these villains to meet God.
After all, perhaps only God could forgive them.
Whoosh!
Yi Meng phased into Happy's apartment room. A Stark Industries Fabricator machine stood active, powered by an arc reactor of new-element energy—the same device Morgan had used to build Baymax.
In front of it stood a Black man clad in a charging-tech suit.
"Whoever you are, you're too late!"
Sensing Yi Meng's intrusion, Electro's eyes gleamed with blue lightning. With a sharp grin, he snatched the arc reactor from the Fabricator, slotting it into his armor.
A surge of incredible energy erupted through his body.
Yi Meng paused at the doorway, watching.
"Ha ha ha! Such power! This energy is limitless!"
Blue lightning poured from Electro's body, his eyes and skin overflowing with blinding white arcs.
"You'll be my first test subject. Die!"
Electro unleashed a torrent of white-hot lightning, engulfing Yi Meng and blasting him straight through the walls. The apartment shook as the storm ripped furniture and walls apart, even exposing the glittering city skyline beyond.
"Incredible! Absolutely incredible!"
Electro trembled with excitement, convinced of his newfound invincibility—both in this world and his own.
But then—
A cold, mechanical voice echoed behind him.
"That's it?"
Electro froze. He turned, only to see a white mechanical hand phase through his armor, extracting the arc reactor from his chest.
"No! Give it back!"
Cut off from his energy source, Electro's eyes bulged in desperation. Lightning sputtered uselessly as Yi Meng's body flared with the same blinding arcs.
"Here—take it back."
With the Mind Stone fragment empowering him, Yi Meng pressed two fingers gently to the back of Electro's head, releasing the stored energy in a single, devastating burst.
Crack!
A torrent of white lightning surged into Electro's brain, exploding his skull from the inside out. His head burst into a glowing blue phantom of electricity—instantly split apart by a flicker of golden light.
The storm of lightning consumed his body, shredding it into nothing, then spilled outward across the room. The explosion lit up the New York skyline as if day had dawned.
Yi Meng shielded the Fabricator, preventing its destruction by the storm.
With victory secured, he sealed the Fabricator inside a massive metal box, taking it along with the arc reactor. His silver cape snapped in the wind as he accelerated into the night sky above the city.
