HISD Chapter 77 Heroes Gathered Because of Yi Meng

When May carried Morgan, her little face streaked with tears, out through the front doors of the apartment building—

The once-chaotic building had already returned to silence. Outside, under the New York night sky, police cars with sirens wailing and lights flashing lined the streets, surrounding the entire block.

Among them, a sleek black luxury car pulled up beside the police cordon. A sweating, portly man in a suit rushed out in panic.

"May! Morgan!"

Happy's face was full of guilt and worry. "I was on the next street. When I heard the noise, I rushed back. Are you two alright?"

"We're fine, just… she's probably been badly frightened."

May shook her head, glancing down at the little girl in her arms. Morgan seemed dazed, staring blankly upward at the night sky.

"What exactly happened here?" Happy asked gravely.

May opened her mouth, but couldn't find the words. Her trembling gaze drifted to the sixteenth floor of the apartment building.

Sixteenth floor.

Shoop, shoop!

Two agile figures in different styles of Spider-Man suits landed from the high sky outside, their movements light as they entered through the broken walls.

"God… looks like we're too late."

"Yeah, the battle here is already over."

The two Spider-Men—different in height and build—looked around at the ruins. The apartments and corridors of the sixteenth floor were a devastated wreck, smoke and dust still heavy in the air.

The taller Spider-Man pulled off his mask, revealing a sharply handsome face, though shadowed with fatigue and dark circles around his eyes.

"We need to find this world's Spider-Man. Maybe he can help us return to our own worlds."

The other Spider-Man nodded and also removed his mask, exhaling deeply. He was middle-aged, his features weathered but still carrying the outline of once youthful strength.

If Yi Meng had been present, he would have instantly recognized them. The Spider-Men from other cinematic worlds.

The Amazing Spider-Man, and the original, first Spider-Man.

"Over here!"

The Amazing Spider-Man waved and leapt toward a collapsed corner of the ruins, heaving up a fallen wall with his bare hands.

"Oh my god…"

The first Spider-Man's pupils contracted at the sight.

Beneath the rubble lay a tragic scene—

A white teenage boy in a metallic Spider suit lay on the ground, pinned under the lifeless body of a gentleman whose chest was torn open by a fatal wound.

And beside them, a man with four mechanical tentacles—Doctor Octopus—was bracing himself against the debris with nothing but his human body, shielding the others from being completely crushed by the collapsing wall.

When the wall was lifted, Doctor Octopus managed a bloody smile before collapsing.

"That's Norman Osborn… the Green Goblin from my world. And Otto Octavius, too."

The first Spider-Man caught the broken body of his world's Doctor Octopus.

"He's already dead."

The Amazing Spider-Man checked Norman's condition—he'd died minutes ago.

"You… you're this world's Spider-Man, Peter Parker, right?" The Amazing Spider-Man looked at the bloodied teenager, his eyes unfocused and dazed.

"I… I messed up. I ruined everything." The young Spider-Man murmured, staring at the dead Norman Osborn, his emotions tangled between hatred, anger, and grief.

"Doctor! Doctor!"

The urgent call came from the first Spider-Man.

"He won't make it," the Amazing Spider-Man said quietly, glancing at Doctor Octopus in the elder's arms.

"No… Doctor!"

The young Spider-Man snapped back to his senses. He wiped the blood from his face and rushed to Octavius's side, activating the nanotech medical systems of his suit. But the scans confirmed it—his internal organs were too damaged.

The boy trembled, staring at the dying man. "Doctor… you didn't have to save me. That collapse… it wouldn't have killed me…"

"Save you? Ha…"

Doctor Octopus leaned weakly against the first Spider-Man, his glasses crooked, revealing a pair of still-intelligent eyes. "I wasn't saving you… I was saving myself…"

With those final words, he exhaled and went still, his expression oddly peaceful.

The young Spider-Man slumped helplessly to the ground.

"Rest in peace, Doctor." The first Spider-Man sighed and gently straightened the fallen man's glasses.

"We have to learn to live with loss," the Amazing Spider-Man said flatly, as if speaking from experience. His gaze fell on the scorched fragments of tech nearby. "Looks like three villains from our worlds have died here."

Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Electro.

"Not just three."

A sudden voice echoed through the ruined floor.

All three Spider-Men turned. A circular portal shimmered open, and from it stepped a distinguished gentleman in a flowing sorcerer's cloak, streaks of white at his temples.

"A magician? This world has wizards too?"

The Amazing Spider-Man and the first Spider-Man exclaimed in unison.

"Strange… Mr. Strange, I'm sorry. I really messed everything up." The young Spider-Man looked down in despair, unable to meet the sorcerer's eyes. "I should've listened. I should've sent them all back to their worlds when you told me to."

"Indeed."

Doctor Strange shrugged, then gestured to the portal. A monstrous lizard corpse and shards of crystalline glass spilled through onto the ruins.

"The Lizard…?" The Amazing Spider-Man's eyes widened.

"Sandman, Flint Marko…?" The first Spider-Man studied the glass shards before realizing in shock.

"This isn't a villain roll call." Strange's voice cut sharp, though his tone grew grave. "In less than five minutes, five supervillains from other universes, all dead. And they were killed by the same entity."

The words left all three Spider-Men shaken. They knew these villains well. Each one—Sandman, Electro, Green Goblin—was enough trouble to film a whole saga.

And yet, all had been slain, quickly, by one being.

"This world… is terrifying," the Amazing Spider-Man muttered. The first Spider-Man nodded grimly.

"Do you know who killed them?" the young Spider-Man asked.

"I was trapped in the Mirror Dimension, but I caught glimpses," Strange said, his eyes narrowing. He looked at the boy with a peculiar expression. "It's someone you should already know."

"Me? I know him?" Peter Parker froze.

Before Strange could answer, a roar split the night sky outside.

Whoosh—

A figure descended in a blaze of thrusters. A black man clad in blue camouflage-pattern armor, bearing a star-spangled shield, landed heavily on the ruined floor.

Sam Wilson—the second Captain America, once the Falcon.

"Let me answer that question," Sam said evenly. "Because lately, Bucky, Banner, and I have been tracking its presence… all the way from Wakanda."

Tonight was no ordinary night.

Two Spider-Men from other worlds, Doctor Strange, and the Avengers themselves—gathered together, all because of Yi Meng.
