Chapter 8 - Too Handsome for My Own Good

The next morning, Loir came to pick Yuni up for school. Yuni was still chewing her breakfast in a rush when she spotted Elis leaving for the office.

Elis noticed her first and said warmly, "Good morning. Heading to school?"

At first, Yuni was too busy looking down at her plate to notice. But when his voice reached her ears, she quickly looked up, flashed a smile, and replied, "Good morning, Mr. Charming. Are you on your way to the office?"

Elis gave a simple nod. Just as he was about to say, I can give you a ride on my bike…, Loir cut in from behind, yelling, "Oi, idiot! Are you coming or not? We're going to be late!"

Yuni jumped, gave Loir a smack on the head, and hissed, "Have you lost your brain? There's a handsome guy standing right in front of us, and you chose now to insult me?!"

Loir rubbed her head and rolled her eyes. "Handsome? Where? I only see Sam. And there's no one on this earth more handsome than my Sam."

Yuni puffed her cheeks. "Tch! My prince charming is way more handsome."

The two were bickering back and forth when Elis suddenly cut in, "Aren't you two going to be late for school?"

Both Yuni and Loir froze like guilty kids caught red-handed. They turned their heads toward Elis at the same time and stammered, "Y-Yes! We're leaving right now!" Then, in a hurry, they scrambled onto Loir's bicycle and pedaled off.

From behind, Elis couldn't help chuckling softly as he watched them go.

Meanwhile, on the bike, Yuni pushed Loir's back and whispered nervously, "Do you think Mr. Prince Charming heard what we were saying just now?"

Loir groaned. "How would I know? If you're that worried, go ask him yourself when you get home."

Yuni buried her face in her hands dramatically. "Oh no! What if he did hear everything? He'll think I'm some kind of weirdo!"

Loir rolled her eyes. "You worry too much. Your Mr. Prince Charming isn't as perfect as you think."

And so the two argued and teased each other all the way to school.

Later that day, after class ended, Yuni and Loir ran into Sam. As usual, Loir immediately blushed red the second she laid eyes on him.

Yuni gave her best friend an exasperated look. "Why are you always so shy?!" Then, with a mischievous grin, she shoved Loir forward—straight into Sam.

Caught off guard, Loir stumbled and clutched onto Sam, while Sam instinctively caught her by the waist. For a split second, they stayed frozen like that, close enough to hear each other's breath.

Yuni smirked slyly from the side. "Oh ho! Seems like things have already started to heat up between you two."

Both Sam and Loir quickly let go, cleared their throats, and tried to act serious. But Sam suddenly remembered and looked at Yuni. "By the way, why were you upset the other day? Loir told me you seemed really down."

Loir nodded, worried. "Yeah, tell us. What happened?"

Yuni scratched her cheek and muttered, "Let's get out of school first, then I'll tell you."

The three of them headed to a nearby convenience store. They bought pastries, three strawberry milkshakes, and two ice creams, then sat outside together.

Finally, Yuni spoke. "It wasn't a big deal. Just a small misunderstanding."

Loir leaned in. "With who?"

Yuni rolled her eyes dramatically. "Didn't you see this morning? Mr. Prince Charming."

Loir sighed. "Yeah, I saw…"

Sam, who had been quietly listening this whole time, tilted his head, completely lost. "Wait… who's Mr. Prince Charming?"
