The air changed.
An unbearable pressure built around the area.
Every molecule in the atmosphere thickened until even the guards could barely breathe. They ran hither thither, choking… gasping for air.
A strange vibration ran through the marble beneath…like a drumbeat echoing from somewhere deep beneath the stronghold.
Dante stood perfectly still at first.
Head bowed.
Fists clenched.
Shoulders visibly trembling too much.
Then his breath changed…became uneven, labored. The kind of sound that didn't belong to a man anymore but an animal.
A pulse flared through his body.
Like a brief flash beneath his skin, like lightning caught inside flesh.
"Alpha?" Mordo's voice cracked as he ran towards him, hesitant.
But Dante didn't even look at him anymore.
His fingers twitched. His nails lengthened. His veins turned black, then gold, then… red.
A soft crack came from his spine. Then another.
Mordo stumbled back. "Goddess have mercy…"
