Chapter 41 - GTAG Chapter 41: So Close!

GTAG Chapter 41: So Close!

Cage lifted his stiff neck and looked up at the monster blocking out the sun, its face hidden in shadow.

In that moment, he saw not a beast, but a being of terror and evil—a force that blotted out the light and brought despair.

The next second, that terrifying presence extended another claw and seized him.

Godzilla sniffed Cage's scent, and his eyes lit up.

Yes. This was it.

No other creature carried this scent—only those infused with both human and Alpha blood.

Rita had it once too, but hers had been diluted. To Omega, she was only human now, no longer an Alpha, stripped of the reset power.

Godzilla tightened his grip around Cage, then turned and strode into the sea.

Only after the titan vanished beneath the waves did humanity recover from its shock.

What was Godzilla? Why had he come? None could answer.

The aliens didn't care. Their slaughter of humans never slowed.

············

Held in Godzilla's claws above the sea, Cage steadied his breathing and forced himself calm.

He was trapped, yes—but the monster didn't seem interested in eating him. Instead, it looked as if it wanted to take him somewhere.

Where, he could not guess.

He didn't shout, didn't struggle. He feared that one careless move might make the beast crush him.

Instead, he let himself be carried, curiosity gnawing at him. Where was this creature taking him?

The wind whipped at his face as Godzilla surged forward. The speed was incredible.

But the wind wasn't the worst of it—the sun was merciless.

With no protection, Cage felt his body drying under the burning rays.

Would he die of dehydration first? Or would the monster simply snap him in half?

The sun set. The moon rose.

After a full day in that crushing grip, Cage exhaled in relief.

At least now, the heat was gone.

But only just.

Truthfully, his bladder was bursting. But to relieve himself here, in the claw of such a creature? He was certain it would mean instant death.

He didn't fear dying anymore—but not before learning why the monster wanted him.

Every part of his body ached. The pressure of the claws, the heat of the sun—his body screamed for release.

Half-delirious, hours later, he saw it.

Land.

His eyes snapped open.

If the monster hadn't changed direction, then they were heading straight into enemy territory.

Why would it come here—to land ruled by alien creatures—and drag him along?

Cage could only watch as Godzilla stormed ashore.

He slid from the titan's claws down to the massive tail, stuck against it like glue, unable to move.

Above him, the sky was ablaze with stars.

The ruined cities lay in darkness, their proud towers broken, their lights extinguished.

Without light pollution, the heavens glowed brighter than ever.

But Cage couldn't enjoy the view. Staying conscious was struggle enough.

Still… those shooting stars were strangely clear.

Clearer. Closer.

His eyes widened.

Not shooting stars. Alien bombardments.

A rain of fire filled his vision.

Every alien that could see Godzilla was unleashing an attack.

Godzilla only curled his tail slightly, shielding Cage from the blasts. He refused to let his prize die now.

Then he charged.

Sensing Omega's presence, Godzilla dropped to all fours, thundering across the ruined land.

In less than half an hour, he reached his goal.

Omega's hiding place.

Buildings and a pyramid-like structure shattered beneath his claws.

He tore at the earth itself, ripping it open with two mighty swipes.

And there—finally—Omega's true body was revealed.

Godzilla's lips curled in triumph.

For once, the beast's face showed joy.

He lifted Omega in both claws, ready to swallow it whole.

But he did not notice.

Nearby, two aliens unlike the rest moved with eerie precision. Larger than their kin, they twisted their tentacles together in a spiral and rammed them into each other's heads.

They were Alphas.

And before Godzilla could devour Omega, that familiar sensation struck again.

The world blurred. Time reset.

"..."

Silence.

Godzilla floated to the surface of the sea.

The sun blazed overhead, and his rage burned to match it, an inferno that could consume the world.

So close.

He had been so close!

One more moment and Omega would have died. The endless cycle would have ended.

But time had reset again.

Why?

Cage wasn't dead—Godzilla was sure of that.

Then it had to be an Alpha. One of them had died.

But right when he was about to kill Omega?

How could it be coincidence?
