Chapter 42 - GTAG Chapter 43 Panic

GTAG Chapter 43 Panic

"Puh~"

Cage no longer knew how many times he had suddenly snapped his eyes open.

But this time, he was utterly lost.

He had guessed that being caught by Godzilla might bring some benefit, but he hadn't expected it to be this strange.

Because Godzilla's tail shielded him, he couldn't see what was happening outside.

Still, just from the constant noise, Cage knew Godzilla had clearly barged straight into the alien hive.

The aliens' attacks didn't stop for even a second. From the moment Godzilla appeared and charged toward where Omega was hidden, he was drowned in artillery fire.

Flames from the explosions clung to Godzilla's body and never went out.

Cage even felt like he was being roasted alive inside.

And because Godzilla curled his tail around him, the aliens assumed the tail was a weak point, pounding it almost as much as his limbs.

But after realizing they couldn't pierce his hide, they shifted tactics—targeting Godzilla's arms and legs to slow his advance.

Of course, that didn't work either.

What really unsettled Cage was something else—the strange command that had suddenly appeared in his mind just before the time reset.

It wasn't even a clear thought, more like a blurry order.

Maybe it was because he had been tortured all day, battered by explosions, and baked by the radiation pouring from Godzilla's body. His mind was a fog. He could only remember one part.

It told him to kill himself.

Wait… suicide!?

Cage froze. Was the reset triggered right when that command appeared?

And could it be possible… that the order wasn't meant for him, but for Alpha?

Thinking of Godzilla's strange movements and the aliens' unrelenting madness, Cage's heart sank.

Could it be… that's where Omega really was?

The more he thought about it, the more it made sense.

Cage slipped away to find Rita, explained everything, then went to Dr. Carter.

After hearing Cage's story, Carter fell silent. The flood of information nearly fried his brain.

After a long pause, he finally spoke.

"If what you're saying is true, then that massive alien predator is even more terrifying than we imagined."

"And your guess isn't without merit."

"Even if you 'saw' Omega's location, we can't rule out that the alien has a way to pinpoint where Omega is hiding."

That thought gave Carter a headache.

Theoretically, Cage could sense Omega's position through Alpha's blood.

But if the alien predator had also found Omega's lair, that couldn't just be coincidence.

The order in Cage's mind, followed immediately by a reset—it was too perfectly timed.

It was very possible that the alien predator had forced Omega into a corner, leaving Omega no choice but to use time resets to survive.

If so, this was terrible news for them.

Not only was Cage in poor condition and unable to confirm Omega's exact location, but even if he did, killing Omega would become far harder.

Because the moment Omega sensed danger, it could force Alpha to commit suicide, triggering another reset.

Carter realized it. Cage and Rita realized it too.

But no matter what, they had to find a way to kill Omega—for the world, and to escape the endless cycle.

"Before we act, we need to confirm whether the place you saw Omega, or the location the alien predator led you to, is truly where Omega hides."

Carter then revealed something. Years ago, when he first theorized about Alpha and Omega, he had built a prototype device that could strengthen the link between them.

He had never expected it would actually be useful.

After all, they had never captured Alpha, and nobody had believed his theory.

So he had made only one prototype.

The device should still be locked in a safe.

And Cage knew exactly whose safe that was.

The very man who had sent him to the military camp, who had accidentally exposed him to Alpha's blood, giving him the power of time resets.

General Brigham.

So first, they had to find General Brigham and persuade him to open the safe and hand over the device.

Only then could they learn Omega's true location.

Finding Brigham wasn't the problem. Convincing him was.

Still, no matter how difficult, Cage and Rita resolved to try.

After all, Cage could reset time. If they failed, they could just keep trying until it worked.

After countless failed loops, Cage and Rita finally stood before General Brigham.

"Major Cage, if I'm not mistaken, shouldn't you be in camp right now?"

Brigham frowned at the sight of them.

He knew them both—one a coward desperate to survive, the other a battle-hardened Valkyrie who had slaughtered countless aliens.

How on earth had the two of them ended up together?

Silently, Brigham's hand edged toward the alarm button under his desk.

"Listen, General," Cage said quickly, "I know you won't believe us, but what we're saying is true. Please, don't call anyone in just yet. Give us one minute to explain."

Cage kept his tone humble. He didn't want to be reset before even finishing a sentence.

But just as he was about to speak further, the office door burst open.

"General, emergency!"

A uniformed woman rushed in.

"Don't panic. What happened?"

"Sir, the satellites detected a massive creature in the ocean—it can unleash a blue energy beam!"

"What!?"

Brigham rubbed his ears, thinking he misheard. Or was this woman playing a joke on him?

That's when Cage spoke.

"Ma'am, this monster—does it have black skin, red glowing lines under its folds, a massive tail, three dorsal fins, and a body towering over a hundred meters?"
