GTAG Chapter 58: Is the World in Chaos or Not...

Twenty years passed in a flash.

In that time, the outside world had changed drastically.

The world had barely settled into peace when the island nation, under the shadow of the Godzilla Cult, found itself constantly attacked.

Anyone who openly represented the Cult became a target. The moment they appeared in public, assassins struck.

Unfortunately for the assassins, success was rare. The Cult simply rotated its figureheads, replacing one after another over the years.

Everyone knew the true leadership of the Godzilla Cult was far beyond their reach, yet the killings never ceased.

If only they could expose the Cult's secret of bodily modification, everything would become easier. But the Godzilla Cult buried those truths so deeply that even many within the organization had no idea.

As for spies sent in from the outside, none ever returned. One agent who finally reached the inner circle vanished without a trace—no body, no sign, nothing.

On the surface, this was all that could be seen.

Beneath it, the Cult's leadership knew full well that countless forces wished their nation destroyed. Even their leader came to regret founding a state. Governing a country was far harder than running a cult.

The Cult simply lacked capable administrators. The fact that their nation hadn't already collapsed was a miracle. Their leader understood it couldn't last.

So, he had prepared.

Using the fruits of G-cell research, they established bases across the globe. Nearly all senior leaders relocated, leaving only an empty shell of the Cult behind in the island nation.

Their wealth came from G-cell technology.

It wasn't only body modification. They had methods to slow cellular decay and extend human lifespans.

A whisper of such power was enough to drive the world mad—and they had the strength to protect it. Money was never their problem.

As expected, patience in the international community soon snapped. After decades of effort and infiltration yielding nothing, rival powers flipped the table.

First came leaks to the press about human experimentation. Then came forged but convincing evidence.

Soon after, the island nation was attacked—by the superpower across the ocean.

Resistance barely even began before the nation fell.

For the people, it was whiplash: the despair of war followed by news that it was suddenly over.

But the military knew better. They stormed laboratories in a frenzy, stripping everything of value before departing, leaving chaos and ruins behind.

The civilians were left bewildered. What did these invaders really want?

The answer was obvious: Godzilla Cult research. The talk of experiments was nothing but an excuse.

Yet judging by the superpower's later hysteria—branding the Cult a heretical evil—they had not obtained what they sought.

The so-called war had lasted an absurdly short time. As it ended and the Cult was outlawed, the superpower's overseas bases came under sudden assault.

The world descended into turmoil.

Across the globe, human-modified monsters emerged.

These twisted creations became living weapons, ripping through bases and military outposts.

The superpower retaliated with advanced technology, unleashing overwhelming firepower. Many monsters perished, but not without heavy losses among the soldiers.

Worse, after suffering defeats in open battles, the creatures turned to ambush and guerrilla tactics, striking from the shadows with devastating effect.

And then came the revelation that horrified the world: to raise funds, the Godzilla Cult sold their monsters to terrorist organizations.

The Cult only targeted the superpower, but terrorists struck everywhere.

Soon, coordinated attacks erupted in cities across the globe.

Killing the monsters themselves was not difficult—small ones could be mowed down with gunfire, larger ones destroyed with grenades and rockets. None grew larger than five meters, and their armor, though tough, was not invincible.

But the battlegrounds were cities.

And within cities, the destruction they caused was catastrophic. Heavy weapons could not be used without massacring civilians.

So even when the monsters were slain, civilian casualties numbered in the thousands.

Public opinion turned. Every nation came to despise the Cult.

The Godzilla Cult became a global enemy.

Most humiliated of all was the Church, who had once tried to associate themselves with Godzilla.

As the Cult's atrocities spread, the Church fell silent. But suspicion lingered.

Finally, under pressure, the Church declared publicly that the Godzilla Cult had never represented Godzilla, that it was a self-proclaimed organization with no divine recognition.

Their hypocrisy was blatant.

The Cult didn't waste words. Instead, they dispatched a squad of monsters to stand outside Church headquarters at dawn exercises.

The priests nearly fainted in terror.

If not for the Cult's leaders restraining themselves, the Church might have been annihilated.

But the Cult's triumph was short-lived.

As nations unveiled their anti-Godzilla weapons, the monsters' threat diminished sharply.

Arms dealers profited enormously, selling weapons that could never harm Godzilla himself but were more than enough to devastate the Cult's G-cell abominations.

In response, the Cult escalated again—releasing even stronger monsters onto the black market.
