GTAG Chapter 61: Nuclear Blast!
What did the end of the world look like?
Godzilla could not picture it.
Or perhaps, he himself was the very embodiment of the apocalypse.
One thing was certain—he could no longer empathize with humanity.
Two collapsing worlds. Two nearly identical doomsdays. Both overrun by zombies.
Countless rotting corpses with twisted faces lunged at the living, but they no longer stirred fear in Godzilla's heart.
He only found their constant howls annoyingly loud.
In both worlds, the Blades had landed in cities.
Zombies rushed under their feet, while the last surviving humans fled aimlessly through the ruins.
Yet in truth, very few remained alive.
The two Blades moved at the same time.
They needed to consume enough zombies in order to absorb the viruses.
But in each world, the zombies reacted differently.
In World War Z, the infected threw themselves madly at the sudden appearance of the Blade, as though the virus itself had gone insane.
In Resident Evil, the zombies ignored the Blade completely.
No attacks. No retreat.
For the Blade, it made no difference either way.
The only challenge was that zombies were so small, making it harder to quickly harvest enough viral material.
World War Z.
The moment the Blade appeared, it was detected.
Although the zombie virus had spread worldwide, not every city had fallen.
Nations monitored the infected zones by satellite, fearful that hordes of the undead might spill outward.
So when this monster suddenly arrived, it startled many.
Yet, no one dared interfere.
As long as the Blade didn't leave the city, they would not act against it.
In fact, some were eager to see the monster clash with the zombies, to see which force was stronger.
Resident Evil.
Here, the outbreak was still limited to one city—Raccoon City.
The Blade landed directly within its borders.
The first to respond was the Umbrella Corporation.
They immediately dispatched gunships to test the creature.
But the Blade ignored them completely, using its chest claws to scoop up zombies and devour them.
Its digestion was frightening. Within minutes, the corpses were dissolved, while the T-Virus remained absorbed within its body.
When the helicopters realized their weapons did no harm, they escalated to missiles.
After all, with few survivors left in Raccoon City, Umbrella could act without restraint.
If they hadn't needed the outbreak to achieve their goals, they would have nuked the city already.
To them, the monster's sudden arrival might even be convenient.
Rumors were already spreading online that Umbrella had caused the catastrophe.
Not rumors, but truth.
Still, they would never admit it.
And now, this giant monster offered them the perfect scapegoat.
A beast this massive must surely carry some virus, right?
Next, they only needed to kill it—or capture it alive, if possible.
Though catching something this size was little more than a fantasy.
As the missiles launched, the helicopters peeled away.
The Blade paused mid-meal, tilting its head in confusion as the buzzing "flies" retreated.
Why did the pests suddenly leave?
Not that it cared. It had no effective anti-air weapons anyway.
Then the missiles struck.
Boom! Boom!
Twin explosions engulfed the Blade in fire. For a moment, it seemed the monster had been incinerated to nothing.
Umbrella personnel erupted in cheers.
But then the flames parted.
The Blade stood unharmed.
The room fell silent. Every throat seized shut, words frozen in disbelief.
A creature that even missiles could not kill—this was beyond their understanding.
Not even their prized Tyrant could have survived such blasts.
The Tyrant was strong, able to lift cars and tear through steel. Armed, it could wipe out an entire squad.
But compared to the Blade, the Tyrant was laughable.
The monster wouldn't need to fight. A single step would crush it flat.
"Supervisor, should we still test the Tyrant?"
They had planned to use this disaster as the perfect proving ground.
But now, the test suddenly seemed meaningless.
"Withdraw."
There was no more to test. It was time to run.
The situation had spun completely out of control.
This terrifying monster would inevitably draw the eyes of nations.
Soon, no secrets could be hidden.
Umbrella had to erase all evidence, and quickly.
Even with their global reach, they could not stand against a superpower.
Moments later, a mushroom cloud rose over the city. The searing heat erased everything.
Everything but the monster.
"ROAAARRR!"
The Blade's horrific bellow split the sky.
It was alive—but in a pitiful state.
Its entire body looked as though it had been scalded with boiling oil. Patches of muscle lay exposed beneath shredded skin.
Two of its three pairs of eyes were burned blind.
It staggered forward, unsteady, as though death might take it with its next step.
