GTAG Chapter 60: Two Portals
Trying to find a giant snake over ten meters long in a jungle was, in theory, harder than looking through mythological records.
After all, in the real world, a snake that long simply couldn't exist. Even one that reached five meters was already rare.
Those news stories about titanic snakes living for centuries were all lies.
But what if something unscientific entered the mix?
For example, a flower that could extend life—the Blood Orchid.
Normally, even if an animal consumed the Blood Orchid, it wouldn't become enormous. At best, it would just live longer.
But by coincidence, these flowers were occupied by a species of snake that kept growing larger with age.
And so, this jungle had become home to a population of oversized predators.
Of course, to "Blade," they were nothing more than oddly-shaped little creatures.
Because Godzilla had sent Blade close to the Blood Orchid's habitat, it didn't take long before it found one of the snakes.
In no time, Blade sliced it into several pieces.
Curious, it swallowed part of the corpse. Its eyes lit up immediately.
The taste of this fresh flesh wasn't bad at all.
So, it devoured the rest of the snake too.
Then, Blade began tracking more of them by following the lingering "scent."
When it first arrived in this world, it had already caught whiffs of something in the air that it didn't like.
Following the trail, it found another snake. Before long, it would surely complete the task entrusted by its Master.
Excitement welled up in Blade's chest.
Its first mission might be over this quickly—it was so competent!
Through the forest rampaged a hulking beast, leaving devastation in its wake.
Thanks to Blade's excellent senses, it soon discovered the snakes' breeding ground, as well as the cliff wall covered in Blood Orchids.
Without hesitation, it slashed apart the mating snakes in an instant.
The dying serpents writhed in the mud while Blade carved the whole orchid-covered wall free from the mountain.
It held the slab with its scythes and chest claws, then began heading back toward the landing site.
But after only a few steps, Blade suddenly stopped, turned back, and returned the wall to its original place.
Godzilla had also considered taking the Blood Orchids away. But he realized he had nowhere suitable to store them. Better to let them keep growing here.
With Blade guarding them, there was nothing to worry about.
Godzilla's world.
After discovering that sending monsters on missions was feasible, Godzilla's thoughts opened wide.
He immediately created two more portals.
Over the past ten years, he had found three different worlds:
Anaconda, Resident Evil, and World War Z.
Worlds he had little interest in visiting himself.
Perfect for his monsters to handle.
The Anaconda world was already resolved. That left the other two, which were far more intriguing.
Both Resident Evil and World War Z revolved around mysterious viruses transforming humans into flesh-eating monsters.
The difference was, the virus in World War Z was extremely infectious.
Once infected, a human would turn into a zombie in less than fifteen seconds, then sprint like lightning.
The downside was just as obvious—it ignored unhealthy humans as hosts.
Any kind of illness or disability made someone unfit for infection.
Resident Evil, however, was overflowing with different viruses.
The most famous was the T-Virus.
But that world didn't just have the T-Virus.
In the games, all the viruses traced back to a single plant—the Stairway to the Sun flower—source of the Progenitor Virus.
The T-Virus was created by combining the Progenitor with leech genes.
Once discovered, it drew the full attention of the Umbrella Corporation, which poured endless funding into research.
This led to countless variants of the T-Virus, and from it, the creation of organic weapons—B.O.W.s.
Strictly speaking, zombies and lickers were simply humans infected by the virus. Dangerous, yes, but not true B.O.W.s.
Through T-Virus experiments, Umbrella produced biological weapons and made obscene profits by selling them.
But which version of Resident Evil was this—the games or the movies?
In the games, Umbrella went bankrupt not long after. In the movies, Umbrella launched a full-on apocalyptic campaign.
The answer would be easy to find: just send a monster over and see if the T-Virus had gone global.
World War Z's virus wasn't especially important to Godzilla, but the T-Virus sparked his curiosity.
Though he normally wouldn't bother over something so useless to him, having underlings to send made it another story.
So, after opening the two portals, Godzilla dispatched a Blade to each world.
With that, all three Blades at his side had been deployed.
Godzilla immediately felt the shortage of monsters around him.
So, he commanded the expanded Monster Factory to ramp up production.
Now, the speed of creating monsters depended on the Factory's size.
At its current level, building a Blade or a Heavy Crab took only ten months.
If all energy was diverted to monster production, that time could be cut down to eight months.
Unfortunately, the Factory was still too small.
If it ever reached the size of the Precursors' facilities, it could churn out monsters in bulk—new batches every month.
The numbers produced would be terrifying.
For now, Godzilla could only wait for the Factory to keep growing.
He had time to spare, and the Factory wouldn't keep him waiting forever.
