Chapter 10 - Improvements

The cracking of branches could be heard in the forest.

I dashed through the woods, and because of my magically enhanced speed, the edges of my vision blurred.

A tear slipped from the corner of my eye, and absentmindedly, I wiped it away.

My magical core flowed through my legs and arms, granting me an inhuman speed…

My eyes were fixed straight ahead, focused on dodging the obstacles—called trees.

At around 60 km/h, I ran through the forest.

If a No-Maj were to see me, they would be shocked at the speed with which I dodged trees and leapt across ravines that were over 15 meters wide.

But to dodge with such precision takes time.

The first time I jumped using magical reinforcement, it was relatively easy. But one mustn't forget that on that day I had only jumped vertically.

Running, dodging, or leaping horizontally turned out to be far more difficult than I had imagined.

You have to adjust the magical flow that strengthens the body to match your movements.

That… took a long time.

The first time I tried to run with a magically reinforced body, it went badly.

The magical flow in my left leg was not synchronized with my right, creating a dissonance.

Simply put, I fell to the ground because my left leg was too fast and my right too slow.

To solve this problem, I had to improve my magical control.

That took a long time…

About two and a half months.

But it was worth it. The adrenaline that floods through you when jumping over ravines just makes me feel alive.

In my field of vision, I saw the last ravine that separated me from my home…

Quickly, I directed all my magical power into both legs.

I accelerated, and when I was only a meter from the edge, I pushed off with my right leg.

My thigh heated up from the surge of magical power and catapulted me forward with tremendous force into the air.

Twenty meters—that was the distance I had to cross.

The abyss gaped beneath me, yet I felt no fear, only pure adrenaline.

Beneath my blue shirt, my heart hammered.

In midair, I performed a somersault.

Before my feet touched the ground, I reinforced my entire body with magic so it would shield me like a cocoon.

I rolled to reduce the impact.

Unnoticeably, a smile spread across my pale face.

I panted heavily, my hair and body drenched in sweat.

Reflexively, I ran a hand through my hair for a moment before finally walking back into the house at a slower pace to shower.

Cold water pelted down on my body.

I tilted my head back so the water would wash over my face.

Six months have passed since my arrival in this world.

I discovered the following:

I was born on January 7, 1979.

That means when Harry Potter enters Hogwarts, I'll be a third-year.

That gives me time to prepare for the events that will surely unfold differently in this parallel world.

I also asked about my father.

My mother replied that she had a complicated relationship with him, but that his name was Regulus Black, and he was a Death Eater.

As far as I know, Regulus Black was indeed a Death Eater, but he actually betrayed Voldemort and died as a result.

He tried to destroy a Horcrux but failed and hid it instead.

Wait… where did he hide it?

Why don't I know?

Why?

Ahh, the Fidelius Charm.

Regulus Black had asked his house-elf to destroy the Horcrux… but where, I do not know.

From that point on, my memories become foggy.

The so-called Fidelius Charm is soul magic. Since my soul is now in this parallel universe, the Fidelius Charm now affects me.

I stepped out of the shower and looked at myself in the mirror.

My body did not look like that of a six-year-old, but more like that of a nine-year-old.

That wasn't particularly surprising, since wizards age differently from No-Majs.

The magic in our bodies accelerates aging from a certain point until the fourth maturing, when it stops.

At the fourth maturing, wizards take on the appearance of adults.

When I start at Hogwarts, I will probably look like a twelve- to fourteen-year-old.

It has been proven that the acceleration of aging is connected to one's bond with magic.

So the higher the percentage of connection to magic, the faster one matures.

Speaking of the connection to magic, I asked my mother what my value was, but she only replied: "You'll find out on your seventh birthday… and no, we can't make an exception. It's tradition."

So much for tradition.

Since I am a natural Occlumens, my connection to magic must be 70% or higher. Natural Occlumens always have 70% or more.

That puts me at least above average compared to the 50% that is considered normal.

My Occlumency has made enormous progress. I'm already at the advanced stage, namely the Violet Stage.

When one compresses their Occlumency shields into the violet color, they can sort their memories within their soul, achieving perfect photographic memory.

I'm not there yet, but I can already feel my memory improving.

My rapid progress is due to two factors: first, that I am a natural Occlumens, and second, that I have increased my meditation sessions to four hours.

A normal wizard would need five to ten years to reach this stage. That speaks volumes about the incredible talent natural Occlumens possess in the mental arts.

You're probably wondering why I increased my meditation sessions, aren't you?

Because I want to heal my cursed condition as quickly as possible.

The main reason is that emotions make spellcasting so much easier.

My spells could be far more efficient if I were able to integrate emotions into them.

My wandless magic has improved greatly.

I can make my bed levitate without effort or float myself telekinetically, which is one of the reasons I dared to leap across a ravine.

But I still lack the aggressive magic that Elizabeth and Matteo have demonstrated.

Well, I could try to imitate the random magic they showed, but it consumes an enormous amount of magical power.

I could compensate for my handicap if I had a larger magical core, but unfortunately, that isn't the case.

Perhaps my Inner Gift will grant me greater insight into this.
