Ares's POV
The hum of the KnightCorp office felt louder than usual. Every computer turned on, every fluorescent light flickered faintly, and yet none of it reached me. My mind was elsewhere… on Jasmine, on the board, on the betrayal, on the merger. Everything was falling apart, and the clock was not slowing down for anyone.
I strode through the corridor, phone pressed against my ear.
"Jasmine, I'm at the office." I said sharply.
Her voice came through, calm but tense.
"I know. We need to move fast."
I did not respond right away. I just gritted my teeth, feeling the surge of anger that had become a constant companion. My team had failed. The board had failed. The insiders had failed. Only one person was left I could trust: Jasmine.
