 The office still smelled like burnt circuits and leftover coffee. The digital screens glowed in the dim light as if they were exhausted too. Ares was pacing, his shoulders tight, jaw hard enough to crack stone. The moment the call ended… "Varon is moving in less than twenty-four hours".... he had not stopped walking around m

 I pushed away from my desk and stood. "Ares… stop. We need to think."

 He turned so fast his coat swayed behind him. "Are you serious right now? Think? Jasmine, we have less than a day. They are about to rip KnightCorp and Duvall Holdings apart."

 "I know." I said quietly. "That is why we need to stop reacting… and start striking."

 His eyes softened by a fraction. Just a fraction. "Say what's on your mind."

 I took a breath. "We infiltrate Varon Capital."

The room went silent… so silent I could hear the air conditioning humming like an anxious heartbeat.

 Ares blinked once, twice. "Infiltrate?"

"Yes."

"Jasmine, that is…"
