Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Although morning had arrived, the clouds still tinged with a dark color overshadowed the surroundings, during the entire course of the night they did not see a single monster approach the bonfire, and no monsters or beasts from other areas had approached the perimeters either, that situation made Asfil a little nervous, she wanted to advance to class B, and there was a history of students with excellent grades being promoted.

Mart pulled out the map again, looked at the surroundings and three kilometers away there was a wooded, patchy area with a level 2 danger level, however, there were sporadic sightings of rank 3 monsters and beasts in that area.

"Why do I feel that there are very few monsters in our area; just because it was a safe area being at level 1, didn't mean it didn't have monsters."

Mart was feeling stressed, his idea of a possible conspiracy by spies or power wannabes increasing.

"If that happens, there will be a massacre; I must get Selis and Asfil off this mountain; intuition always warns you when there are factors that alert it."

Mart approached Selis and Asfil and said:

"If not a single target appears at dawn, we will go here."

Selis surveyed the area, took out a notebook, read her notes, and then handed each of them three potions:

"There are poisonous plants and creatures in that area."

"Thank you." Both Mart and Asfil thanked her almost in unison and put away the potions containing antidotes to the poison. Each potion was a different color and had a small label describing when, how much, and how to use the potions.

Mart asked Asfil and Selis to wait for him near where the bonfire had been, as he was going to explore the area to ensure a safe route.

His footsteps crunched the few recently fallen leaves on the ground as he walked. He saw a hill formed by earth and rocks and climbed it to see the horizon. A black-skinned goblin was prowling around. Mart infused a third of his demonic energy into his senses to perceive the environment. just one goblin, nothing else, unless there was a being with the stealth and reasoning to try to use the goblin as bait. However, as he extended his perception, so did the system.

[Detecting demon god energy...]

[Recommendation: eliminate the goblin]

Mart felt like laughing at that reckless suggestion, but he just took a spiral-tipped metal blade out of his bag, created a demonic diagram, and the blade began to float. Then he conjured another diagram that merged with the blade, which acquired demonic symbols as it began to spin at high speed.

Mart concentrated, conjured up one last diagram, and with a wave of his hand...

Bang!

He caused the blade to shoot out after making a loud noise similar to that of a high-caliber firearm.

The spinning blade cleanly pierced the goblin's head, and it fell dead to the ground.

[Demon God Energy Acquired: +0.1 in all attributes]

"Not bad, if there were a few more it would be great," Mart thought after seeing the reward.

[Greed trait activated: you'll get double everything you earn]

Mart kept moving forward cautiously, until he noticed a cave in the distance, took out the map, marked it, and kept moving forward. About two hours later he returned.

-How did it go? -Asfil asked if Mart had spotted any monsters.

Mart shook his head.

-What are we going to do? -Selis asked, a little worried about the development of events.

-I think we should go to the lake. -Asfil suggested.

Mart looked thoughtful, besides, since he had returned he had not stopped his rhythmic breathing so that he could continue to absorb demonic energy. He looked at Selis and Asfil, he did not wish to put them in danger, but he sensed that there could be more goblins in that cave and making them come out was an option to increase their attributes.

-Yes, we must go to the lake. -Mart agreed, while thinking, "If we hunt a monster in the third rank, I can get them out of the mountain and go to that cave".

In the end, they decided to head to the lake area with a danger level of 3.

Mart told them to be cautious. As they walked toward the lake, the number of trees gradually increased, as did the humidity and cold, which they could only avoid by using their demonic energy to cover their bodies with a thermal barrier. However, they did not do so. Instead, they just took out some thermal barrier coats that Mart had bought for 5 gold coins each, in order to avoid wasting demonic energy unnecessarily. They were walking when they noticed an area with some rocks and bushes about 20 meters from the lake. They approached and hid.

The three were nearby, hidden in the bushes, but there were hardly any monsters or magical beasts near the lake, and those that approached were only of the first rank.

"Something is definitely going on," thought Mart, who said a few minutes later:

"I think we should search the surrounding area, hunt quickly, and leave. If they prepared and reported conscientiously, you must have noticed that something is not right too."

Selis agreed; Asfil was dissatisfied but had no choice but to accept. Even so, they waited all afternoon until nightfall and then set up camp about 100 meters from the lake.

This time they lit a small fire because they were in a dangerous area. Mart was the first to keep watch while the two young women went to sleep.

"If this is a planned attack, by now there must already be some casualties or injuries. I even imagine there must be infiltrated students. I have to prevent the talents from dying, even though I don't know who they are."

Mart looked at the tent where the two young women were sleeping and thought he should ask Selis about the talents of the S class.

[Demon System: Demon God Energy Detected]

[Warning: Large concentrations of Demon God energy, 4 in total, several kilometers away]

[Recommendation: Keep your distance, host (danger level 4 to 5)]

"I wish I had been wrong," Mart thought.
