Chapter 6 - The Great Test

SAMAEL

The scratching sound of heavy doors opening behind me draws my attention to where I am. I am no longer in the dessert where the trolls were attacking us. This new place looked more like a Temple. Tall fences reaching into the clouds blocked any form of escape and I couldn't see any gate in view.

The ground was covered in smooths rocks painted in red. It so much like real blood but I choose not to believe it. Right in front of us was the largest building I have ever seen. It was at least 2 million square meters, and it was so tall I couldn't even see a roof in view.

The walls were made of marble and smooth stones. It looks like something out of a fairytale movie but it still has a sense of realism to it. I would have called it a palace but it more of had the shape of a amphitheatre or a stadium.

The double doors looming before us were so latge giants would easily walk in without having to bend. It was made of he thickest oak wood. No tree is meant to be this tall or this thick. It will take at least 50 men with super strength to pull one of this door looking at its weight.

On the doors were drawings of every living creature, supernatural and even those I have only read about as myths and legends.

From Angels, to witches, demons and even dragons. Dragons are meant to be extinct. History says that Lucifer realized the Dragons were more powerful than him so he wiped them all out. They are said to be able to use both pure maagi, elemental maagi, and are also beast masters. All in one. It's impossible and too much power for one person to weild. Here is a dragon on the door of this weird building bold and powerful.

Staring at the image I feel a powerful stirring in me but it disappears quickly. What was that?

The door that has been opening finally stops fully opened and Sir First standing beside me takes a deep breath and speaks

"Time to face the Trial" he says and I roll my eye as we step into the dark building.

The moment we close the threshold the doors lock behind us wnd we are plunged into total darkness. I had no night vision so I couldn't see in he dark

"Can you see anything Sir First?" I ask

"Nothing! Everything is pitch black. Not even might vision works" he says and I shake my head.

"Black abyss spell! It's a pitch black darkness that can only be broken by the caster." I mutter and Sir First chuckles.

"How do you know this?" He asks and I scoff

"My greatest dream is to become a Warrior, and I have spent my whole life reading for it. I have read almost every book I have gotten my hands on I just have never had power to practice what I learnt." I reply trying to find a way out.

"Sir First, you can emit holy light right?" I ask and he scoffs

"Can a chicken lay eggs?" He asks and I roll my eyes.

"Now listen to me!" I say and I feel him nod.

"Create a blast of holy light bright enough to blind even you. Close your eyes" I say

"Why that bright?" He asks and I groan in frustration.

"Because it is will be bright enough to blind whoever is casting the spell long enough to drop it and the Holy light will be able to break it." I add and he mutters a oh of recognition "now at my call. Ready?" I say also and he sighs in response. That will do "Now!" I yell and close my eyes.

"You can open your eyes now" Sir First said and I open my eyes to a bright surrounding. There were floating globes of light all around us. At least a thousand of it. It will take an enormous amount of maagi to keep such magic working. Where is this place really and how powerful are those who created it.

"See! I know what I'm doing" I say and he chuckles.

"You sure do" he replies and I take a step forward. I step on the ground and it clicks. "Boyyy" Sir First screams and pushes me out of the way of flying axes from both sides. I dust my cloth as I get up trying not to step on a trap again.

"Booby traps? Really? Who built this temple?" I curse

"Not just any one. Maagical ones. They can kill any supernatural. I don't know how we would pass this, even with my speed and agility I almost got nibbed by an axe saving you. I can't outrun this." Sir First says and I smile

"I can outsmart it. I just need to find the pattern." I say and he has this incredulous look on his face as I pull out the stones I have in my bag. I toss 26 of them onto the rocks and multiple booby traps are activated and skenof the stones glow. Got ya!

"What are you doing?" Sir First asks and I smile

"When I still break into homes and libraries to steal I needed a means to escape all kinds of booby traps so I got the idea of fooling traps. Each of that stone has been spelled to carry the right maagi and heat signature as that of any creature and by tossing it I create momentum enough to act like movement. The traps believe it as creatures and therefore are released. With the glowing ones the rocks that fell on trap, I can study the patterns of the trap and come up eiuthbthe right movement." I reply and walk on the rocks that don't trigger traps. Sir First follow behind me and once I understood the pattern I follow instinct and shortly we were at the end of the booby traps.

"That was scary! But you really are smart. Why have you never tried to show this brains?" He asks and I smile

"A magician does not reveal his secrets" I reply and he chuckles.

We were not at the center of the temple. It looked like a ring. The floor was decorated differently. With a large dragon forming the letter S in the center of the ring.

"Where are we? What is the next trial?" I ask Sir First and he shrugs. Like it is waiting for me to speak the floor trembles heavily. We fall forward and the ground rearrange itself and flies for the sky. What? Just as sharp it stops.

"What just happened?" Sir First asks already on his feet and I push myself back to my feet clumsily.

"I think we just went up or something" I walk to he edge and I swallow heavily. We were at least 20000 feet higher and the floor was no longer there. In its stead was a flowing lava. Even from this far above you can feel the heat from this thing. One fall into it and we are gone.

"Yeah no shit Sherlock" he replies and I roll my eyes.

"I was expecting people more threatening" a female voice says from behind us and Sir First turns weapon ready slashing and she flies back. "Feisty one, I like you already." She says from the other end of the ring.

She didn't look special. Black hair, fit body, nice back and front, on sports bra and shorts and no weapon. However something about her puts me on the edge. Not like I feel when I meet someone powerful, but like how you feel when you know death is knocking on the door. She puts her hand on her waist and smiles.

"Who are you?" I ask and she smiles

"I'm sure you already know that! You are the smart one arent you?" She says and I gasp as a name drop in my head Death. She can't be can she.

"Ohh he figured it out! You intrigue me. Only people more powerful than me can get my name and feel my aura." She says still facing me and I shake my head

"What do you want, Death?" I ask and she chuckles and Sir First looks at me confusingly.

"Nice! He called my name and I didn't feel the urge to kill you. I would really love to know why, but I'm not here for that. Maybe another time" she adds smiling at me.

"You didn't answer my question?" I feel an authority leave my body

"I'm here to kill you both, or see if any of you can kill me and pass the trial."she says and her eyes widens.

"You compelled the answer out of me" she snaps "how dare you?" She yells and in a second she was aiming a sword that came out of nowhere at my head, but Sir First was fast enough to block it with his.

"Focus on me! I'm your opponent." He yells at her and pushes her sword back.

"Don't fight a war that isn't yours, Blessed." She snaps back at Sir First, and I can feel the rage pouring out of her in waves. She is really angry. What did I do? I just wanted answer and I felt disrespected when she refused, like she was beneath me and should do my bidding not the other way around.

"The boy is my charge. You will have to go through me first!" Sir First says battle ready and she smirks

"So be it!" She says as her eyes take a dark orange shade like bleeding flames and I knew one thing

She is going to kill Sir First
