Chapter 169: Arrival at the Battlefield
Kyogre, along with two people and two Pokémon, flew to Sootopolis City. Sapphire, holding the Blue Orb that emerged from her hand, said, "I didn't expect Kyogre to fly."
"I think all Legendary Pokémon can fly?" Ruby asked doubtfully, while also having some expectations for Groudon, whom he was controlling.
Following Kyogre's flight, they soon arrived at Sootopolis City, a massive city built in the crater of an extinct volcano. Kyogre landed heavily, sending up a massive wave of water.
The first Legendary Pokémon makes its entrance!
Wallace and the Elite Four arrived in Sootopolis City early. Wallace watched Kyogre appear, but then saw Ruby and Sapphire above Kyogre's head. He immediately frowned and said, "What's going on? Why are Ruby and Sapphire here?!"
Then Wallace flew over in his airship and looked at Ruby and Sapphire from a distance, as well as the orbs in their hands. Wallace said with a complicated expression, "Ruby, Sapphire, how did you get the orbs and control Kyogre?"
"Master!" Ruby was surprised to see Wallace's arrival, but soon reacted and said, "Master, don't interfere in this matter. We will handle it. And we won't let Groudon and Kyogre cause any damage."
Wallace glanced at Mewtwo and Darkrai and said, "Did Ryan assign you? There's no need to deny it. This Mewtwo and Darkrai are both his Pokémon."
Ruby shook his head and said, "Master, we don't deny it. But at least Ryan will help us and deal with this matter."
"Rayquaza?" Wallace said calmly. "If that's the case, Ruby, I just want to say something to you. Stop getting involved in this, or your father won't be able to protect you."
Ruby smiled carelessly. "Master, I'll definitely help with this. After all, Celebi told me about this disaster, hoping I could prevent it. Ryan sincerely wants to help me, and it's because of his involvement that this matter was resolved more smoothly. So, I can't let this matter go."
Wallace shook his head helplessly. This student was very dedicated, had the talent, a good mindset, and was following his own path. He was arguably the most perfect student. But now he insisted on interfering, and Wallace couldn't bear to see him lose his future.
"Take care of yourself," Wallace said. "Your father and I should be able to protect you. But as for Ryan, I'm sorry."
With that, he flew the airship to the crater and stood there, awaiting the arrival of the other Legendary Pokémon.
Drake, the Dragon-type specialist among the Elite Four, took a puff of his pipe and said, "Why? Is it your student who concerns you?"
Wallace had a cold expression and said nothing. Drake smiled. "I also had a troublesome student. I don't know where he's gone now. He said he wanted to defeat me and inherit my position. Alas, none of them are easy to deal with."
Wallace said, "The three Legendary Golems have been subdued by the new generation. We must bear this disaster this time. Although Ruby just said Ryan would handle this, I have a feeling something is not right. I think it will cause major problems later."
"Hehe. Something's going to happen," said Phoebe, the Ghost-type specialist of the Elite Four. "My Ghost friends have found a lot of intruders. It's a pity they didn't spot Team Magma. They actually kidnapped my grandparents while I was away, and Team Magma also stole the two orbs."
"Intruders?" said Sidney, the Dark-type specialist of the Elite Four. "I'll clean them up."
"Don't be impulsive. We just need to make sure the two Legendary Pokémon don't fight, or minimize the aftermath of their battle," said Glacia, the Ice-type specialist and last of the Elite Four.
"Well, just think of it as a warm-up exercise. They're just small fry anyway," said Sidney.
After saying that, he immediately released his Mandibuzz. Jumping onto its back, Sidney rushed to the side of the mountain. A moment later, an explosion was heard there.
Glacia frowned and said, "Sidney was a delinquent before, but I didn't expect his temper to remain the same. Whenever there's a fight, he just charges in. Doesn't the League do anything about it?"
"I guess it's difficult. After all, the Elite Four have a high degree of freedom. Unless there are some essential missions, you're free the rest of the time," said Phoebe. "If the League hadn't called me away about something that time, Team Magma would never have been able to steal the orb from my grandparents."
Glacia smiled and patted Phoebe's shoulder, saying, "Okay, don't be angry. We'll teach them a lesson later."
As soon as she finished speaking, a violent earthquake shook the area. Sidney also flew over from the side, frowning and saying, "Groudon's coming."
Drake took a puff of his pipe and said, "Almost. Look, the inland sea below is already boiling."
Everyone looked at the boiling water. As streams of magma gushed out, a huge floating island formed in the inland sea. Groudon, accompanied by the magma, landed on the floating island and glared at Kyogre with a fierce look, as if a fight was imminent.
The weather also took a dramatic turn with the meeting of the two Legendary Pokémon, and a fierce confrontation began. On one side, dark clouds gathered and heavy rain fell, while on the other, the sun was blazing, even the trees withered from the scorching heat.
Mewtwo used its Psychic power and flung Ruby towards Groudon. Ruby landed steadily on Groudon's head, and then Ruby and Sapphire began to suppress Groudon and Kyogre with all their strength.
The two Legendary Pokémon naturally disliked this kind of suppression, but suddenly, as if sensing something, they looked up at the sky.
With a long dragon roar, the weather suddenly calmed, and a green figure appeared before everyone. Ryan stood atop Mega Rayquaza, looking at this familiar yet unfamiliar scene, thinking of the future he had foreseen.
"It seems to have changed a little," Ryan said with a smile. "In that vision, there weren't so many people waiting for us!"
Mega Rayquaza roared again, and Groudon and Kyogre momentarily wanted to retreat, but they were suppressed by Ruby and Sapphire.
At this time, Ryan's voice resounded through the sky: "Groudon and Kyogre! Stop your quarrel and lift the seal!"
Before Wallace and the others could register the meaning of these words, two massive Pokémon Eggs flew down from Mega Rayquaza's head. Ryan's psychic power held the Eggs steady in front of the two Legendary Pokémon. Groudon and Kyogre were stunned for a moment, tears welling in their eyes as two deafening roars echoed through the air.
"Not good!" Wallace instantly realized, shouting, "Stop them!"
The Elite Four also reacted. In an instant, five Pokémon—Dusknoir, Absol, Shiftry, Salamence, and Milotic—were deployed, targeting the two Pokémon Eggs. They wouldn't allow them to hatch!
But how could Groudon and Kyogre let them have their way? Groudon roared, its body gleaming with the color of magma. Sharp stone blades coated in magma erupted from the ground, directly striking the five Pokémon. Five explosions followed, and the five Pokémon were blasted away by Precipice Blades.
Several blue energy orbs appeared around Kyogre. Then, with a roar, they radiated waves of blue energy, striking the five Pokémon that had been blown away. Unable to dodge, the five Pokémon were instantly knocked out by Origin Pulse.
With the five Pokémon falling before them, Wallace and the others were left helpless: their ace Pokémon had been defeated without even getting close!
Groudon and Kyogre carefully touched the two Pokémon Eggs and released the seals. As the seals were released, the two Pokémon Eggs glowed with a dazzling light.
When the light faded, two small Groudon and Kyogre, each just over a meter tall, appeared before the group. Unlike their parents, they were in their Primal forms!
"Ruby, Sapphire," Ryan called out, "Place the orbs on the heads of the two Legendary Pokémon! You don't have to control them! They won't hurt us anymore!"
