Sand.
Her breath caught. She looked down fully and realized she was no longer in the dark room. She was seated in a soft, grassy floor. Her gaze lifted, roaming upward towering trees that stretched far above her. A cool wind drifted through the forest, lifting her untied hair and brushing against her skin.
She rose to her feet, confusion swirling in her mind.
Wasn't this the view she'd seen through the glowing opening? Was the glow a portal? Where was this place—and why was she there?
She began to walk, carefully exploring the forest. But no matter how far she went, all she found were tall trees, and endless greenery. Eventually, she stopped beneath one and placed her palm against the trunk, intending to lower herself to the ground.
The moment her skin touched the bark, a sharp, electric sensation surged through her veins.
She talked her hand back with a gasp.
"What was that?" she whispered, staring at the tree.
