"Through a portal... I think," she replied uncertainty. "I'm not entirely sure how."
His brow lifted slightly. "Where did this portal appear?"
"I don't know. Maybe..... in my dream?" she shook her head faintly. "It's all very confusing."
Leonard said nothing.
"There's something about this forest," she murmured, more to herself than him.
His attention sharpened. "What do you mean?"
"I could use magic here," she said. "And the trees... they're electrifying."
"Ah," Leonard murmured, though the word she'd chosen didn't quite sit right with him.
The young witch, unaware of his reaction, stepped toward a nearby tree. She raised her hand and placed her palm against the bark.
Instantly, a jolt surged through her. Her body jerked as she gasped, yanking her hand back and clutching it to her side. Leonard stepped forward, understanding dawning. He placed his own palm against the same tree.
Nothing happened.
A frown creased his brow.
